40 years later 1983-2023, this song is still great!!!

I love the story of how this song was written. Stevie was on her way to her honeymoon and heard Prince's "Little Red Corvette" on the radio and was immediately inspired to write this song. She detoured from her honeymoon to get into the recording studio and got Prince's number. They had never met. She called him and told him that she was working on a song inspired by his "Little Red Corvette" and that she was giving him 50% of the royalties for the song if it ever became successful. She asked him what he was doing right that moment and if he could come into the studio to play on the recording. He said yes and was there in 20 mins. He worked on it and played on it in the studio with Stevie and her crew for about an hour and a half, and this is the result. Pretty great stuff.

This came out the year me and my wife of 36 years met. High-school sweethearts and still going strong. Lots of great 80s memories

So when this sing came out, there was this girl in our hood named Elaine, and she was pretty easy. So instead of saying to the guys that was ready to have their turn with her, you'll be standing in a line, we'd say to them, you'll be standing in Elaine... Lol 😂 Then eventually, she started liking me, and I ended up having my turn to stand in Elaine as well... Lbvs 😅😂😊

I heard an interview Stevie did explaining how Prince agreed to write and record this track with her. Apparently she called him and he came into the studio, laid his keyboard tracks down in one take and in 20minutes left the building. She went on to say when they play this song live she uses two keyboardists. She said he was the greatest musician she had ever met.

So, while I'm 56 now, back in the 70's and of course the marvelous 80's I will and cannot forget those outstanding music decades. "Stevie Nicks has often told the story of how she wrote the song. She wrote it on the day of her marriage to Kim Anderson on January 29, 1983. The newlyweds were driving up to San Ysidro Ranch in Santa Barbara when Prince's song "Little Red Corvette" came on the radio. Nicks started humming along to the melody, especially inspired by the lush synthesizers of the song, and "Stand Back" was born. They stopped and got a tape recorder and she recorded the demo in the honeymoon suite that night. Later, when Nicks went into the studio to record the song, she called Prince and told him the story of how she wrote the song to his melody. He came to the studio that night and played synthesizers on it, although his contribution is uncredited on the album. He and Nicks did agree however to split the publishing royalties on the song 50-50. Then, she says, "he just got up and left as if the whole thing happened in a dream."
