Well here it is, the epic "Texas Flood" by Stevie Ray Vaughan completely broken down note-for-note.
"Texas Flood" quickly became SRV's calling card after the release of his debut album by the same name. Even though it contains three full verses, it is more of a prolonged guitar solo than anything else. It is in the classic slow Texas Blues style, which gives SRV plenty of room to show off his legendary electric blues chops.
There is a ton of stuff to sink your teeth into when learning "Texas Flood". In these video guitar lessons every single phrase that Stevie Ray Vaughan plays is broken down slowly so it can be easily digested one section at a time.
It may take some time to learn this blues masterpiece completely, but the end results will far outweigh the work involved. Just don't hurt yourself playing some of those bends. OUCH!!

I’m a very mediocre guitar player at best, never thought about trying to learn this song because I felt it would be difficult. It’s not super easy but it also not as hard as I thought it would be. Your way of teaching it is a big factor in me slowly, but correctly learning this song. Thank you so much

@grabersm Sorry but RU-vid has begun removing the audio from a lot of my song performances which I then have to take down. I don't know which ones they will do it to so I just can't spend the time on performance videos anymore not knowing whether RU-vid will allow them or not. It is too much work for nothing. It sucks, but I think I will just stick to teaching the tunes from now on.

Brother, I hope you are well. I have watched your videos for years. Ive recently ended about a 8mos hiatus from playing guitar, (personal problems) and I picked up about were I left off on quite a few things that I feel you taught me. I owe you quite a few beers. One day we will meet. It will be glorious. There will be groupies, whiskey, stripper salt and ganja. We will jam into the next month. We will touch the past. P.S. I think youd be a better guitarist if you dropped a half step. You know how to harmonize, you have great bends, and youre knowledgeable of tone. Not that you're not a phenomenal and naturally gifted individual, but I think it would open your imagination and youd reach things that you hum as you're walking down the sidewalk. DROP IT DOWN!!!

I use 12s and I finally got the intro down after a month working on and off on it. no strings broken. I have strong hands so 9 and 10 feel like there is almost nothing to grab onto. I start on a guitar with 11-54 standard tuning with this video then move to a start with e flat and 12-54 strings. Even though I play with a thick pick as well, I rarely brake strings.

Ok. This half a fret lower was common back n the 60s when I was a kid because they made the guitars with high frets n thick strings so everybody always tuned their guitars a half a fret lower so they could press the stings down and or bend them because that’s the only way you could play most guitars. Has nothing to to do with SRV tuning his guitar down a half of fret with thicker strings to sound better. Now that their making guitars better with thinner strings. Theirs no reason to tune ur guitar down a half a fret. Get it. So no need to tune it down a half a fret with big thick strings. Common sense guys. Live n learn. Ur welcome
