I just found out about Jon Gibson yesterday (90's baby) and i told myself in my mind, "he sounds like Stevie Wonder". So this is cool to have come across today.
Got saved in '88 and Jon was one of my favorites. Stevie is truly "the one and only". Thanks to Stevie for letting Jon show his talent alongside "the legend". Lesten to Jon's " a friend in you", it's fantastic!
Heart of Gold is an Amazing Album I got saved in 88 also , Jon’s cool guy I met him once in the 80’s he used to live here in Orange but moved to Illinois or something, he’s producing music I think , that was serious clowning for him to do Ebony and Ivory with Jon & they sound so much alike , it’s actually a better version than the original in my opinion

Awesome ! Knew about Stevie wonder growing up in 70s from pop radio & TV. Was at Maranatha Christian Music in Orange County in 1985 and the rep says you gotta hear this great 'new artist' Jon Gibson - Blue Eye Soul - lite Rap. Touched by his genuine faith in Christ & amazing musical chops ever since... LORD bless both Stevie & Jon Gibson

Jon Gibson was so young ... Wow. Great find. One poster stated when first heard Jon Gibson thought he was a black dude, because he sings with so much soul. Gibson's Unique Soulful Style rocked the reference Blue-eyed soul. Funkalicious as someone stated! : - )
The 80's started listening to Contemporary christian music! Jon Gibson, Bryan Duncan, Crystal Lewis, D.C. Talk, Kirk Franklin, etc. Their Music helped in my development and Growth in the Christian Faith. W.C.I.E. Christian based Radio Station. For Carpenter's Home Church back in the day...! Pastors Karl/Joyce Strada. Loved that Church. The Church no longer exists! Man! I missed it. Hopefully God will one day Resurrect a Greater Church in its place! God bless all the Past/Former members! Especially to those who gave their lives! Until the end. Only what you do for Christ will Last...!
friend in you is the only song ever loved on first heard.that was back in 80s I think.only heard it three times and learned it by heart to this day.just yesterday did search on it after all these years.to my surprise he was white!
For a moment, I couldnt tell who was singing which part *lol* John Gibsons style is so much like his Mentor - Stevie. If you want to hear JG at his best sounding like Stevie I would recommend listening to "Friend in you" and JB's Christmas CD.. Awesome talent
