Yeah many blind people can make out general shapes and sizes of things without being able to see color or detail. Like looking through super tinted glasses or opaque glass, you wouldn’t want to drive with glass like that but you could get a good idea of what’s around you.
@@ultrathagawdyes, you can. It’s called hearing and smelling. These senses are very heightened in the blind, especially when they’re receptive to using them more. He knows the sounds of familiar people: their voices, even the way their feet fall on the floor, and their scent.
It’s just natural compensation. His other senses are super tuned to his surroundings. Same thing with Beethoven and his composing and playing music as a deaf man, he just felt the vibrations.

Musicians can hear every instrument and know that something is wrong with it even if they weren't directly looking at it. I've been a drummer for 10 years-ish and I can tell you when a mic falls while I'm playing.
Exactly Heightens your other senses. I suffer from Migraines. My hearing is very Sensitive and Heightened. I can hear sounds my Son & Hubs don't hear. Most annoying is dripping water, can hear it dripping 3 rooms away. They both know it drives me batty, yet still refuse to make sure, it's not dripping . Also have Heightened sense of smell.

I was wrong. I deleted my other comment because it was misinformed. Detached retina is very serious and cause moderate to almost abject blindness. However, it depends on the case. I brought up glaucoma damaging retinas and the ocular nerve leading to total blindness. That was also a bad comparison. As for the buttons my grandfather who is blind has been in enough elevators to know where the buttons are or the mic stand it quite possible he felt himself bump it or step on it and caught it as it was leaning
When will people understand that not all blindness is total blindness? To be legally blind (at least where i live, i dont know if it applies to every country), you have to have 20/200 vision or worse. 20/200 vision is basically just EXTREMELY blurry vision. Maybe Stevie doesn't have total blindness. A lot of blind people still have a small amount of vision. Do your research before you accuse someone of faking a disability, because its rude.

He might of lost his ability to see but he still has his sense of touch, smell, & hear. So he just mastered how to use them better than anyone else to do things that might fool some ppl that he can actually see.
Hold on. Yes he goes to basketball games, but what about people listening to basketball games on radio? If you see pictures of Stevie Wonder without glasses, his eyes are discolored, which only happens to blind people. Plus him “perfectly” catching the microphone was “caught” as best as a blind person could. He didn’t grip it, his arm out it, plus throughout that concert he was swinging his arms around, and it just have been perfect timing. I can tell 100% that he is blind.

he was born blind and has had surgeries to give him his sight. blind people do this all the time especially if they are rich. it’s a very expensive surgery because it requires an eye doner usually people will sign up to be a doner if something happens and they die then their eyes can get donated to people on waiting lists

Lol every comment is correct. Most blind people like deaf people are just partially disabled. And of course his other senses are very very heightened. Plus he may have had a surgery that helped him, medicine does amazing things now. He's still a wonder ❤
you do realize he has four other senses right....because he was born blind, he's probably had to train himself to be able to do stuff like that because he has to be aware of his surroundings more than people who aren't blind do

There are levels of blindness I’m legally blind and yet I can read the comments on this post and look at the picture in the video and recognize it at Stevie Wonder. There were certain things that I can’t see at certain times and it’s hard to explain it to a person who has all of their side because like Stevie I can walk up to an elevatorPress the button on the outside and yet not be able to see the floors on the inside will recognize some of the faces that are talking to me so it’s a peculiar thing about blindness I don’t doubt that he can see a little bit but not 2020
He could be shadow blind like Andrea Bocelli, he's not totally blind he see shadows. Like, imagine to be inside a totally dark room at night but can see at least the silhouettes of things around you (i bet it happen to everyone). Our eyes after a while can see at least little silhouettes of things a bit in a room without lights inside but coming from outside, like the light from the moon ect.. This is how Andrea Bocelli sees and I think Stevie sees like this too. There are many different kind of blind people if you don't know.
I'm visually impaired myself and attended a school for students who are visually impaired. Blind doesn't mean you're not able to still do things sighted people can do. I went to school with kids who were totally blind and they could do a lot of things fully sighted people could do.

Stevie's other sences are so finly tuned it's like he can see I've been blinded by fireworks for 4 months and it's amazing how fast the other sences get way better smell ,hearing ,touch ,Ballance, and the SENCE that you can feel somebody around you when there trying to be hidden from you ,the minds eye can see around you if your trained to trust it your mind is very powerful

I think Stevie can see some sort of shapes but in very opaque fashion. I mean, he could probably see and hear Shaq from the distance (how many huge black 7 footers are there walking around anyways?) and he probably was told or could distinguish Anthony's shape from afar.
My auntie was completely blind but you couldn't fool her. She knew the sound of your walk, the way you talked 👄 She knew when you were happy and sad, and she cooked a mean fried chicken. Heck, she even raised her children with no sight. Blind people see and know more than fully sighted people, trust me on that

I hate to break it but the vast majority of "Blind" people can see, just really, really, really badly, hence why it's called "Legally blind". Stevie himself has said he is able to see, just again, very very badly.

He might still be able to see some light and shadow, which would allow him to notice the movement of a falling object, or be able to tell that a very tall basketball player is standing next to him in an elevator. Combine that with being able to recognize peoples voices, and you might be fooled to thinking that he's not really blind. But he is at least severely visually impaired.

Over the decades, this man could not only have such talent with musical instruments, but also gained the ability to think immediately with the power of sound itself. He learned this from music, and now he can react immediately without the ability to see what he’s doing, but knowing.

Very few partially seated people are 100% blind. Only seeing enough to tell shapes under bright lights (like a shaq size man, following rough player shapesnand the ball or a falling mic stand) could still mean hes not aboe to see well enough to drive or walk around easily without assistance. It was probably played up for publicity in his early career though

He is not completely blind. That's a known fact. He lost some of his site as an infant due to too much oxygen. He was born premature. This happened to several people who were born premature which is why healthcare practices were changed when it comes to oxygenation and premature babies.
Being Blind doesn’t mean it’s completely dark. Some conditions where you can see but there aren’t spots covered the vision. You can find glasses simulating the differences type of visual impairment.

Blind barely ever means 'cant see at all'. Most blind people see too blurry to fix with glasses, have black spots covering more than half of the vision field. Etc.

Blind docent always mean completely blind i have know a few blind people one being a close friend he said he had something called like star gazers he was white but his eyes were sorta like stevies he could see me if i was directly infront of him but to the side or across the room no he also had a hard time writing on white paper he could watch tv too just had to move his head or get closer sometimes and he wasn't always like that he said it got worse as he got older when he was a child
