I was born in 1976. This single was released before I was born, and my parents sang it to me as a baby. My mother sang it to me almost everyday after I turned 18 and went off to college. I'm 40 now, engaged, and my parents are deceased. I miss them so much.

This song is very wonderful. I have newborn daughter Candace and I cannot thank God enough that gave me and my Rowena such a beautiful daughter and when I was waiting for her to be born, I was what she would be like, that is what this reminds me of. I cannot thank God for restoring so much joy that I thought I would never get back when my mom died, I felt that joy restored when little Candace was born.
I used to work at the apollo theatre, and one day during their fall Gala, Stevie Wonder was one of the guests and he stood up out of nowhere, and took out a harmonica, and started to play the harmonica to the beat of the music, and someone ran over and put a Mic on him and he just ad libbed with the harmonica. It was one of the most awesome things I've ever seen.
What makes this song so profound to me is in the original version of this song with the sound effects of his daughter crying (like the moment she was born) and the sounds of her voice and of the water in the bath tub sloshing around is exactly how Stevie Wonder perceives and interacts with his daughter. Purely auditorial. That's amazing.

everytime I hear a stevie wonder song I just get so happy and my eyes start watering from the sentiment. We used to always play stevie in car rides on the way to our holidays in france and sing along, those were really happy times :)

I love this type of music! I'm 15 and I enjoy this type of music over the crap we call music nowadays. My generation could never regenerate or bring about the emotions and feelings this music brings. its just so fulfilling and makes you think about good times. R.I.P Oldies, forget modern crap!
Nice to hear this Great song. He is a really talented composer and performer. His remarkable voice gives meaning to anything he sings. Few singers are blessed with such a talent. Another of those greats of last Century.
Music like this is not dead. There's many artists that still make music worth listening to. You may have to search for them, which shouldn't be hard with websites such as these, but they have talent.

This was the first thing I thought of when my daughter was born in 1980 and since the year she left for college I wake her up every year on her birthday at 10:16 am - the time she was born - and play this to her! She calls it our song and it will be played this Saturday at her wedding reception.
