Stevie released a string of Hit Records during the 70's. Love his Funk period! "You Haven't Done Nothing ", "Boogie On Reggae Woman ", and "Don't You Worry 'Bout a Thing" are all Great tunes..
Talking Book, Innvervisions, Fulfillingness First Finale and then Songs in the Key of Life are simply 4 of the greatest albums ever created and he did them virtually one right after the other. I am very grateful to have been able to experience them as a young teen.
Ok Biz, you’ve just hit upon gold! God bless you for playing the long version. God bless Stevie Wonder. What a gift to the world he is. I’ve seen over 100 artists in concert, and Stevie Wonder is still #1 on my bucket list.
This song is something special. It's always stuck out to me. Also, check out "As" from Songs In The Key of Life. You want to talk about being taken to church that one puts you in the front row!
@@jpmnewyork Back in 2016 he was touring the 40th anniversary of Songs In The Key of Life. I got to see that show and he played the entire album. India.Arie was singing the female leads. It was quite possibly the best concert I've ever seen.
Great song, one of Stevie's best. If you haven't heard "Superstition", that should be your next Stevie song. If you have heard it, then I'd go with "Higher Ground" next.
🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦 Another great song by Stevie Wonder is 🎵 Ribbon in the sky 🎵 Original audio version You gonna love this one too Keep the good work Biz ✌️ 👏 👍🏻
I like your style young man! FYI.. This song (Living for the City) won the Grammy for "Best R&B Song" (74). This album (Innervisions) won "Album of the Year" and is universally recognized as a masterpiece. I personally think it's the greatest album ever made. Stevie wrote, song, produced, and played every instrument on the album.
One of Stevie’s most important songs at just the right time. You would love the tune As which is on one of the greatest albums, Songs In Th Key of Life!Yo Biz, Rhodesia Island is a state, Providence is the city your talking about!
Stevie's masterpiece. He was just 23 when this came out in 1973 and had begun his evolution as an artist on his own, away from Motown. The brilliant album this came from, "Innervisions," was the first of his three straight Grammy winners for "Album of the Year. Stevie couldn't be stopped once he got rolling.
Definitely my favorite Stevie song!!! The live version on Musik Laden is probably the coolest version with all the female back up singers substituting for the synths….so COOL 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽
Already being in awe of Stevie since his 'Little' days, I was growing increasingly flabbergasted by the depth and scope of his musical and lyrical artistry by the time this album came out. My fave FM station played the whole album start to finish as mind-blowing as it was/is, this song, most especially that descending chordal motif with the melody floating atop it just spun my head around a few times, okay, a bunch of times. Used to love playing it years later too, solo on acoustic or with my rock trio. Otherworldly, man. 🌌😘🤙🏼🎶❤️✨️🕊
So; I walked into son's riom holding my phone. One of his friends saw my phone. You were on it. He said, hey I like that guy! I asked, have you subscribed? 😂 he said no, but he would, for me. 😂❤✌️
Little Stevie Wonder made his recording debut at age 11, in 1960 - people always throw the word Genius around. Stevie Wonder is a true genius. A true American Icon. Thanks for playing the extended version of this song. It never gets played. Great commentary, as always, Big Soul Biz.
I am a rock and roll guy, but I could live on Funk, R&B, and Soul from the '60's and 70's. In addition to Stevie, you could listen to Sly and the Family Stone, Sam and Dave, and Aretha Franklin. There are many more, but those are a good place to start.
Check out I Believe When I Fall In Love that's from Talking Book Or As If You Read My Mind that's from Hotter Than July (which imo is one of his best albums)
Great song, great everything, I remember listening to this in my mothers car on am radio in 1973, great then and still great, back then you would hear everything on am ,all types of music on one station, I always liked that, thanks for playing this!
Always love your energy and reactions my brother. I was a kid during the 70's and remember Stevie Thunder Wonder. lol That's what a preacher man called him during a school assembly, always stuck in my head. Amazing talent.
Wonder played all the instruments on the song and ALL the vocals. He was assisted by Malcolm Cecil and Robert Margouleff for recording engineering and synthesizer programming AFTER Stevie recorded everything himself. For live stage performances Stevie used, Fender Rhodes, drums, Moog bass, T.O.N.T.O. synthesizer, handclaps, Calvin Hardaway (Wonder's brother); Ira Tucker Jr.; a New York police officer; attorney Jonathan Vigoda - other voices
I love your choices for reactions...relevant, interesting, and relatable. I was born 1965 raised in Toledo Ohio...like a melting pot of culture and influences so your choices totally resonate with me.
Stevie is an absolute legend ...you might try ...Pastime paradise ...some obscure rap artist covered it and made it into Gangsters Paradise but of course the original is far superior.....
Proto-punk Iggy Stooge aka Iggy Pop. Check out Down on the Street from the same album...you may recognize it from a current Chevy truck commercial. Want more early punk? Check out Kick Out the Jams by the MC5 (MC = Motor City)
