So glad you played BOTH part 1 & 2 here. The first part actually had a listener feeling sorry for Stevie's softness (& pain). The second half, w/ the brilliant Shirley Brewer' s vocals, had us actually FEARING for Stevie's romantic, heartsick azz! It was FUNKY RIGHTEOUS ANGER recorded. LOL. I loved the contrast of music, singers POV & emotionality. Great comments on your reactions.

My favorite on the album. And that might seem incomprehensible to some people. It's such an original concept. The dance groove makes me forgive the repetition 100%. I can celebrate it. This reaction made me very happy, cuz I can imagine some people not appreciating this at all. I loved all of your perceptions of this. Now this is a song you also can add to the playlist with the songs you use, to help you get through doing the tedious chores of life. That's Shirley Brewer killing it. Some people might think this song an album low point and I am thrilled that you got it.

Summer of '76 my heart was broken, bad. This album came out and I listened to it endlessly. This song, while not fitting my own storyline just took me over with its raw emotion. This had it all. The sad heartbreak in the first part and the anger in the second part. Man it helped me get through.

pure genius on the part of the great stevie wonder...when i was a kid i loved this song and still listed to the whole album, all 2hr 45min...ordinary pain was the best song on songs in the key of life...songs in the key of life is considered one of the best albums ever recorded...loved your reaction!

This is one of my favorite songs by Stevie , The instruments that were done to use to make the music of the sound so funky on this song was Electric Guitar, Drums, Bass Synthesizer, Fender Rhodes, and Alto Saxophone. There were two guys who did the sax and guitar but the rest of it , Stevie did

The Album like all the 70's Stevie can be called Genius. This one always breaks my heart. Simple but so sweet for anyone that ever had to heal from love yet but then he gets funky with the other point view. Love the contrasting points of view & vibes.

I have mentioned this before on other reactions cause SINTKOL is one of the faves of all faves. Two things ;Elton John in and interview said he never goes anywhere where this album is not with him, never. Michael Jackson used to come into the studio and just listen as this masterpiece was recorded. I believe he was in his late teens or early 20s.

I really liked that you liked this one. I saw another reactor hear this and he just! didn't! get! it! (The first & last reaction of his for me.) You have to wonder if it would have been a big radio hit, if the album had had fewer radio hits. I like how in part Two, it starts out sticking with the theme of poor Stevie being the injured party. Shirley sounds like a bit of a bitch in her early lyrics. But the story gradually unfolds, and we hear the rest of the second side to the tale, which justifies her side of things. And yeah, the background music gets even more interesting in those final rounds of singing "ordinary pain". Thanks for pointing out how that cast of background singers vocally expressed "ordinary pain".

in the 80's a brazilian singer made a portuguese version of this song. The lyrics has pretty much nothing to do with the originals and it is still awesome lol Her name is Marina Lima and the song is called "Pé na Tábua" if you guys are someday curious

I really, really enjoyed watching ya'lls reaction. I love Dan's head movement--'cause it lets you know exactly what musical elements he's tuned into. And...I REALLY liked how when the woman comes in--telling the guy off?. Sifa rhythmically takes sides with the female singing it!; complete with the rhythmic neckroll, (5:15) that only a sista can pull off!! 🤗 I love it! Love it!!
