The people who are saying that simply don’t know what a chromatic harmonica is, which is hilarious, the same people who want to lecture on proper technique don’t even know the first thing about harmonicas.
For me there's no wrong way of holding a harmonica. Every way of holding has its reason. There's a reason why he didn't cup it, probably to get a clean open sound. Hell, Sonny Boy Williamson II played diatonic harmonica without even holding the damn thing in one of his songs
Other than Big John Popper, Stevie is THE only mouth harp player I’ll ever try to learn their unique style. His harmonica playing has been on some of the biggest records/hits/tracks that- as a musician, I could only dream of playing with those ensembles… Stevie is a very underrated musician / composer.
Cutting it at the beginning of the sax solo is unforgivable! They were jammin' on this one. I'd actually never heard his version of Spain before! He can jazz it up with the best! You go, Stevie!
Stop Trying To Be God and Doing it wrong with Drake wouldn't be here without this man. Two of my absolutely favorite songs. The way the solos on both songs kick in, is just amazing
Stevie Wonder is amazing. I love his chromonica playing. Wow, it looks really hard. I went out & bought a Super 64. It is really hard, but I love the sound of a harmonica. I'm going to try & learn how this instrument works. It seems so versatile.
I've had a blues harmonica and I've been trying my best to learn! I loved stevie's sound and always wondered what the difference was! Now I'm looking into getting chormatic myself!
The piece was composed by Rodrigo for the second movement of his guitar concerto and Corea "borrowed" it as did several people. Also used in many commercials including Chrysler Cordoba.
Corea didn’t borrow the Rodrigo; he quoted it directly. He assumes the listener literate enough to recognize the quote immediately. The pieces hinges on that assumption, in fact.
@@herbertwells8757 What ever you want to call it, it's a quote from Concierto de Aranjuez. When I was playing the Villa-Lobos Harmonica Concerto with the RTVE Orchestra in Madrid I was taken to meet Rodrigo and his daughter, he had written Aldeas De Espana for Harmonica and wanted me to perform it. I told him I would orchestrate it with his permission like Concierto de Aranjuez and that's when he told me just how pissed Segovia was that Concierto de Aranjuez was not written for Segovia! I know the piece quite well.
It’s so sad that people are only listening to this kind of music through artists such as travis Scott but in a way it’s also good that people are appriciating music like this through today’s trap and rap
description of this vid says that wonder plays "classical corea's piece" but forgets to mention rodrigo's adagio from concierto de aranjuez…..that takes exactly half of the video….ends at 1:12 …...by the way: i can't help noticing that this is not the only harmonica vid that is panically cut short at the moment when sax starts playing…lol!
I wanted to get the same harmonica he used in this video (Hohner Amadeus) and they’re 1800 bucks on the used market. Darn, I really like the clear plastic comb
. Bagpipe 13: Professional chromatic harmonica specialists recognise to LEO DIAMOND have the best sweet chromatic harmonica sound. Listen to RCA LP record HARMONICA MAGIC.( Certainly played on a Hi End (Hi Fi ) equipment.).
@@jerrynejd He used to, but he's been playing a custom Huang with silver reedplates for years, now. All his classic recordings are on Super 64s or 64 Chromonicas (270s), THE classic chromatics...I've got three! :)
Stevie Wonder plays the music of Chick Corea... Perhaps Corea's masterpiece, among many, and based on the music of Joaquin Rodrigo... And it stops here? Talk about Musicus Interruptus! (Addendum) I found the rest of it, and it is unutterably brilliant: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Q3VJOl_XeGs.html
I've always believed that Stevie could play jazz if he wanted to! He can certainly improvise! But . . . why should Stevie volunteer to take a pay reduction by playing jazz?!?!
When I listen to music, I want the whole song. I've seen and heard Stevie live in concert...one of the most talented musicians there is. BTW, Chick stole this whole idea from Joaquin Rodrigo's "Concierto de Aranjuez" (1939) second movement.
What I mean "solo" are improvising ... things like that. He's played join' a sequence chords of Spain, right ? But ... he's doesn't play the "theme". In fact ... doesn't matter the name ... solo ... performance ... whatever ... It's WONDERful. Sorry ... I don't speak english as well ... and not use translator cause I've learn by myself. The most important is "you know what I mean ?" Cheers !!!!!
The guitar solos from Hotel California are regarded by many as one of the greatest rock solos of all time and they are also accompanied by a band. A solo doesn’t mean you have to play alone.
