Stewart Lee - Rejected Fitness First Advertisements (& a dead mouse) 

This man's preparation is so meticulous. He has practiced the emphasis on every phrase in every sentence and makes it look spontaneous. He is hilarious yet has no gimmicks, no funny faces, no funny voices, no physical comedy, and he actually tries to make people dislike him! Wonderful!

I've always liked the Macbeth soliloquy about how meaningless our individual lives are in the great scheme of things. It took Stewart Lee to apply it to a Fitness First ad.

'Nothing punctuated by catastrophes' a very nice example of a Stewart Lee genius throwaway line. There are many of course, but I love this one!

Genius at work.

Stu, being the best at what he does, which neither him, or his critics, know exactly what it is. (this an amalgamation of no less than THREE Stewart Lee's jokes, and a sentence I happen to agree with). Still, the "Coming over here" piece stands, on its own, as one of the greatest entertainment moments in TV history. TY for the upload.

I met Stewart Lee in 2009 in a shop near Guernsey that sold treadmills for mice. He was there conversing with the shopping assistant about the length of a piece of string, so I tapped him on the shoulder and asked for an autograph and he said, quick as a flash, he goes, "But you aren't even famous, mate."

Incredible work. The segue into the Shakespeare is beautifully constructed and handled, perfectly fitting. Like few others, Stewart Lee makes the point that this is performance, this is creativity, this is a work of art. And the bit about Dave Hill from Slade is decent too! :-D

A mouseterpiece of comedy

In a biography of Dave Hill from Slade the ghostwriter assists him reveal he labours under a lasting delusion. Namely, that Slade were as musically influential as The Beatles and were somehow hard done by, overlooked by an unreceptive world. Thank you for reminding me of Dave Hill from Slade.

The real truth and irony about exercise is on the day you die you will never know if it ever did you any good at all? I think Stewart understands that irony .... The same applies if you smoke and drink whisky to excess in your life ... That's why life is just a subject to laugh and joke about above anything ... This guy is good though, he's a clever comedian and they are always the greatest 👏
