This is pretty tough to front up to, as a proud South African. One of the best/ earliest childhood memories was watching this game. It's fucked up, to think how corrupt everything was in SA, behind the scenes. Thanks, and apologies, to NZ rugby. Brilliant memories over the years playing against you guys! No other rivalry gets me more amped !
Nice words, gents both of you! If NZ takes this WC I’ll be smiling for yous, to me it would be a very fair reflection of history for you to have 4, us 3, Aus 2. But France or Ireland taking it would be class also. So basically, it’s gonna be a great result either way cos Farrell isn’t gonna be lifting it.
@smartalecc respect to you if your country takes it as well. Your a good man, and sa and nz are the true rugby nations. I have love and respect for the boks.
@smartalecc BTW 3 of my favorite players of all time are sa. F styne, p Montgomery and v matfield, absolute legands. F styne g o a t I met him in 2011. My opinion 1987 sa 1991 au 95 nz 99 aus 2003 eng 2007 sa 2011 France 2015 nz 2019 sa 23 who knows lol
The Greatest part of this TRUE story is that the players never wanted to blame the loss on this incident PUBLICLY... I’m sure within the camp they weren’t happy about it.. And it takes weeks to get back to performance peak after being that sick from food poisoning..
Maybe not weeks, but definitely more than 2 days as was the case. The irony is that this South African is the only one still bringing this shit up. ABs have moved on ages ago. "Kiwis can't let this go." Yeah right, he can't let it go because he's got a book to sell.
Like I said to Captain Cat do some research on what the Boks endured in NZ in 1981. We had to train and play for weeks under stress and we lost the series narrowly and took it on the chin. There is no proof we did anything sinister at all which makes this very annoying at times. If anything we were great hosts trying to find our way back into the International fold. We also had a plan for Lomu through great defence.
@@hanoitripper1809pull up the numbers bro I’m definitely sure the all blacks have whipped your guys ass more than you guys have whipped ours we don’t fear the boks we fear no team we welcome the challenge.. and it’s facts you guys poisoned us because you needed to win the World Cup to unite your racist country
@@bunnychowmuncher Its not up to him to determine how fine the All Blacks were. Leading into the toughest match of your life its hardly ideal preparation though. It was a great victory for a country that needed it and the All Blacks ended up having the final say. The following year they returned to South Africa and won a famous test series victory
Brendon Joseph the evidence is compelling that the All Black squad were poisoned. This security head signed a legal affidavit attesting to the fact..Seriously do you think he would lie public ally about this. He’s the one who takes the responsibility as head of security.Im not sure who you mean when you say “we” poisoned the All Blacks. The obvious culprits were the Bookies as they had the most to gain .Im not sure why it’s an issue for you.Shit happens mate.Just don’t be in a state of denial. As for the 81 tour the Springboks should not of been touring NZ. We breached international agreements, ruined the Olympics and split our country in violence just for a game of rugby.all because of that very poor decision made by a corrupt NZ ruling party who agreed to the tour to bolster their election chances later that year.
There's no evidence that was brought forward in NZ they were poisoned. Frank Bunce and Walter Little tried to cook upa s tory as well but 25 years later noone can still prove anything.... its the same as 07 with the forward pass shit and England's V formation in 2019... build a mangere bridge
If Rory Steyn who was there says it is so , that's good enough for me . As a New Zealander I'm extremely proud of the All Blacks of 95 . We bagged them at the time but that was a gutsy effort . Literally gutsy lol . Perhaps that's where the motivation came from to win in 96 and the following years .
Well said - your teams had more resolution after 1995 so it actually helped you but unfortunately ours have also been somewhat handcuffed too. Had Christian Cullen come two years earlier you would have beaten us easily in that final. We always coped with Lomu but Cullen was too good for us.
I was gutted about this. Mainly for Laurie and his boys. But it's history now. It happened, acknowledge it so it doesn't happen again and move one. They were two great rugby sides, du Rant, Wiese, Joost RiP, Small RiP, Stransky, Moulder, Joubert, Kruger, Pienaar, Fitzpatrick, Brown, Brooke, Kronfeld, Mehrtens, Bunce, Wilson and Jonah RiP all legends. At the time I didn't appreciate how many all time Greats played that day. none of this one sided rubbish. 15-12 A great game of rugby.
I was at Ellis Park that day, after following the ABs all over the Republic, from JoBurg, and Pretoria to the Cape and back. My mate and I had a fantastic time and the locals could not have been more generous and friendly hosts. We were in country about 45 days and only spent one night in a hotel, just great hospitality. The Final itself was a magical day, not just for SA but really for all involved, including the Kiwis. After the match the locals saw our supporters gear that we were wearing and no one, no one gave us any shit, if anything they were almost apologetic, inviting us to join them for a few beers. As my traveling mate was a full-on Zinny supporter, I had to blame Zinny for our loss as it was he who knocked on, giving the Yarppies the scrum that allowed Stransky to strike the drop goal. We came up short in the day, and we may have below our best due the food poisoning, but 15-12 is hardly a disgraceful scoreline. James Small contained Lomu, who we saw thrash the poms the week before at Newlands, so the Boks did play well. At the moment the Boks are struggling a bit but they will improve by next September and Ho pefully they will be competitive as the ABs certainly will be. NZ Vs SA has so much tradition and rivalry, perhaps unmatched by other fixtures, so forgive the past and Bring it on!
westsideAUKILANI Well said. Bok and All Black teams are supposed to be tough too. Our Boks slept behind the stands in that 1981 tour the night before the won that second test in Wellington I think it was. They copped similar conditions but they wanted to play and beat the All Blacks which they did in that second test and like the 1995 final that last Eden Park test went down to the wire. That's what All Black and Boks teams did. It would not have been in Louis Luyts and SARU's interests to sabotage the All Blacks especially after re-entry and establishing the Tri Nations and Super 12. Betting syndicates were very likely because the All Blacks were so overwhelmingly good and most of the money rode on them. They likely were out to lose a fortune. The difference is that the Boks were the first team to manage Lomu who never scored against us after that and they had no real plan B. Of course a year later Cullen came along and he was a huge thorn in our side because he had very silky running lines and was not based on power. Its a pity for Kiwis he was not ready and at that level a year before in 1995 because having him I believe would have seen you guys as the 1995 winners. A lot of people think the Boks used to cheat - not really - our away record was even better than our home record before 1994 quite funningly enough and at one stage we were unbeaten in test series for 60 years. We were big and strong and a lot of that has changed.
@@bunnychowmuncher unbeaten in 60 years. That's not the full story though is it. SARU would not allow coloured players to tour South Africa for a long time. Which is sad.
westsideAUKILANI Still unbeaten whether you like or not. You guys claim your wins in the modern era when we have weakened teams without any issues with the scoreboard says it all approach - you need to then accept that too when the shoe is on the other foot.
98% fit for the final after a poisoning? I DON'T THINK SO. They played the final less than 48 hours after the incident and there is no way in hell a player could be that fit for a game like that. I would say 20% fit if that. I also think that the ref (Morrison) was going to make sure Allblacks would not win that day
Basically, the thing to focus on now is to ensure something like that never happens again. My first Rugby memory is hearing the commentator shouting Lomu's name as he ran over the English fullback.
And the Kiwis should never let it go. It was sabotage and it was cruel. What makes it worse is that South Africans mock the Kiwis for this incident and say it was a conspiracy theory. It happened. The All Blacks were sick and were not able to play but they decided to not make it into an excuse. Who can forget the images of our fast winger vomiting on the sidelines in the final. The team looked weaker and not at full strength in that game and I cannot see how South Africans can be proud of that. Corrupt country and since then, it has got worse and worse.
Sweeter than your fucked up country. You're almost a 3rd world country with your people banging on the door begging to emigrate to NZ and Aussie. And you had to cheat to win the RWC.... too funny.
We still won did we not? The trophy will have South Africa as 1995 world cup champions on it until the end of time. Not New Zealand. Anyways, who will care in 100 years? Have a good one :)
I have had food poisoning twice in my life, once when I was extremely fit. The first 36 hrs were hell and it took me another couple of days to start training again and even then I had to cut my workouts down a bit as I re built over the following days. It would've been a hard task to go out and play world class rugby a couple of days after having food poisoning. Bloody sneaky saffa's but I put my money on Mandela's camp having a hand in it.
I had food poisoning once and boy it drained the hell outta me,I was so damn crook I thought I might not live, at the end s cuppla days later I had lost 4kgs. To play a game of rugby after that wouldve been bloody hard let alone a World Cup Final
@peter barlow Ahh.. Yes your correct, it was 96. Sean Fitzpatrick's ABs. Fun fact Sourh Africa was still practicing Apartheid in 92... Got to love history...
But for food poisoning in 95' and a forward pass in 07', they could be 5 time world champions. They were beaten fair and square in 99', 03', and 19' though.
@@johnlawrence3781and 1991. That Wallaby team was superb! They were VERY lucky to win the 2011 final v France too. Hopefully France can chalk up a championship in 2023 after being losing finalists 3 times.
This man and the South African people are so honest. At least they are saying, yes it happened. Most other countries would deny saying it ever happened and we won fair and square.
All Blacks were the better the team in the tournament but not the better team on the day. And that is that! Yeah there was some foul play but it was just South Africa day. Nelson Mandela was the man they played for and it made their country stronger. I'm a kiwi but I'm happy they one that one.
@@wobblertv8083 They should have cooked for themselves, having been to Africa multiple times, food poisoning is high risk no matter who you are. All Blacks can only blame themselves, but they were still 98% fit in the game
And they proved it in the next 4 tests by smashing SA and winning the series in SA also it just happened to be the first time they had neutral refs for that fixture enough said
If this is the case. Why isn't anybody talking about the 2011 semis where referee bryce laurence admitted that he was paid to keep the boks out of the final.
Stink for NZ. But good for helping unite South Africans. Of course us Kiwi's hate losing the world cup, but the good that came to South Africa was a far greater outcome. #chiefsmana #allblackeverything
HimiRei Martin : Are you serious?? What ever fantasy people have about South Africa winning the world cup by people deliberately poisoning New Zealand therefore assuring South Africa won is dare I say "retarded". It's like saying Hitler was a great leader/shame about the genocide!!!. Speaking of genocide isn't it a twerk of fate that the once "poster" rainbow nation now has blacks purposely killing white farmers ....
HimiRei Martin Are you fuckin crazy mate? Fuck all that unity bs! How can anybody condone poisoning of another team in order to gain an advantage??? South Africa is in a dire state now last time I checked. it's a 3rd world country with massive unemployment (27%), rising debt and 80% landless citizens not to mention systemic racism and I don't even live there yet I know this.
Helping unite South Africa??????????......Dude do you even know whats going on over there now??? You have Blacks murdering White children in the most horrific ways you can imagine just because the news in NZ doesn't cover it doesn't mean it isn't happening.
If the wheels turned and it happened to South Africa instead, would your country let it go? Anyway.., good old Kiwis MANA had their way. Witness South Africa’s World Cup opener with Japan, with Kiwi injections in the team. The Japanese and Kiwis predicted a win, and history was made. 🙏
As a Kiwi it upsets me that this great ABs team never got the plaudits it deserved thru this one loss. Good on Steyn for telling the truth (again). Within a year of this there were 2 other poisonings of sports teams at the same hotel. The U21 Commonwealth Cycling championship where 23 of the 24 teams got sick (not SAF) and a Lawn Bowls tournament where 25 of 28 teams got sick, (not SAF). This blows up the Sports Betting theory but also implies SARU were not directly responsible. Make your own mind up.
Wow never knew that, very interesting to know. Maybe it could be an issue to do with the Hotel. So far there has been no solid evidence betting syndicates were involved, just hearsay
@@floydkingi4364 and to be clear in the era of fake news the other food poisenings were published in 1996 in the (now defunct) Wellington newspaper the Evening Post not a conspiracy theory BS Facebook page. Talking of 1996 the one and only AB series win in SAF was also the only/first series with neutral refs.... For more read what Murray Mexted has written on this, the Boks calling the SAF test ref(s) "Uncle". And that ref saying to Murray "you are leaving, i have to live here"
@@floydkingi4364 sorry got side tracked. There is a well known plant in the region which if injested (say in tea) causes the exact symptoms in all three case. 36-48hr after injestion vomiting/ diahorea for a further 24-48hr. I am not as bitter and twisted as my posts imply but in 1995 the ABs were on another planet to everyone else and deserved the win in their CVs. Which is why it happened.
@@prof_kaos9341 I got food poisoning back in 2000 and boy it drained the hell outta me. Crook as hell for two days, the sickest Ive ever been. At one stage I thought I was gonna die.At the end of it I had lost around 4kgs .Now to play a proper game of rugby would have been bloody hard, let alone a Rugby World Cup Final. So our boys did bloody well to play as good as they did
As a Kiwi most of us have moved on. Its a part of our rugby history. Springboks vs All Blacks is like Ali vs Fraser. Battle of the heavyweights. Our boys are still doing well. Bring on 2019.
Many Kiwi rugby fans don't even remember it. Hardly any rugby fans under 30 would even know about it at all, let alone remember the details to not have moved on from it.
Ali and Fraser was a true rvallry both opponents had the measure of each other all the time. In the last ten years SA and NZ have played 21 times, SA have won 3 NZ have won 17 and a draw, Its hardly a rivallry anymore
Destroyed the/my/our dream team. And no they were not fit, Jeff Wilson I remember dry reaching on the sideline. And I remember my dad saying before the game that the team wasn't well and have been sick. It was a concern before kick off.
Are you blind? If those two shit skins are hot in your mind, I would highly recommend a trip to Eastern & Nordic nations, those shit skins wouldnt stand up to the fuggliest girl on the playground
People are being murdered on their farms in SA right now. What a crappy comment. Maybe SA has changed a lot you knob and we don't have the systems we used to have. Go watch Grey College vs Canterbury Boys high from earlier this year on RU-vid - watch the whole competition in fact. Silly fool.
I'm not convinced - the two teams have been neck and neck for a couple of years - but 2019 was definitely SA's year (both the WC and the Rugby Championship) - Being magnanimous in defeat is arguably more indicative of good sportsmanship than humility in victory - credit where it's due and all that - after all there's choking and then there's choking when it counts.
Where is the evidence that Betting Syndicates were involved. That theory comes up time and time again yet no solid evidence has ever been presented. Is it just hearsay. This guy says they were likely involved but has no evidence, he says he is sure NZ were deliberately poisoned but SA rugby wasnt involved, but he does how know that. He hasnt come up wirh anything new here. All that he has brought up, was well known over 20 years ago
How on earth do you expect a security to investigate without any authority? Do you think the hotel would give him a list of all names of people who entered the hotel then and allow him to question staff? And then you think all guests would come forward to testify to state their alibi and motives? And the syndicates would state the truth about their acts? Are you for real? Some people still think Elvis Presley is alive. Do you?
Why would any country poisoning athletes just to win a rugby match is beyond me. Let alone a country that was playing their FIRST world cup after being out of the international arena for Years??!! Do you truly think SA would risk that?
That's not why we lost. We lost because the great Joel Stranskys drop goals were perfect. And Lomu was shut down. A tight game, and it was a Zinzan knock-on in overtime that led to the winning drop goal. Perfect technique. This guy coming out after all this time, what a knob
In a way it was good for posterity. That Mandela was POSA and SA rugby had just come out the wilderness they needed the 95 RWC to unite their country. Sufficed to say, racism has hindered progress.
ABS Robbed in 95 and Robbed in 23. Sucks that their Rwc wins will be remembered this way. No disrespect to the boks they are one of the greats but it’s how it is.
Rigged by who? In fact NZ rugby is to blame for this whole debacle. If they were poisoned they should have notify authorities of the fact in order for it to be investigated. Maybe there could have been some arrests that week. But no, let's keep it to ourselves and use it as an excuse if we lose. If we win, we could also say we won despite being poisoned. What a f..ked up mindset?! And now, more than 20 years later still play the victim game? And the worse is blame the SA people who knew nothing about the incident.
Might have avoided this? This was all set up to unite your nation. Everything was hanging on this game. People were blasting their car horns outside the All Blacks hotel all night to disrupt their rest as if they were able to get any while they were trying to not die via poisoning
Steyn is correct they were well on the day, mind u it’s the 90’s. But as sports science improve.. Those boys physically weren’t ready to play a game of rugby let alone a World Cup final.... So they actually did awesome to nearly WIN.. Imagine the story then!!!! Love the ALL BLACKS... But Glad MANDELA witnessed a victory and some progress to his nation and the life he gave for it...
Interview starts with "What happened in 1995 with the All Blacks the STORY about food poisoning" Key word here "THE STORY" not the evidence but "THE STORY" I have a story too about what happened. Hey fame publicity and fake news the order of the day huh?
westsideAUKILANI Hahahaha and you just know do you. Barmen have to serve drinks right in from of people - chefs are at the back in the kitchen and have more control.
Yes its true it worked did u see how good nz players played...sa must use that sort off poison if we ever play poor like we did from 1996 tot 2018 when rassie took over....except nick's era....if sa fall again just give that poison to the boys they will be good again.....1995 nz played a hell off a final and no sighn off any sick player...yes it worked against us....
The 95 World Cup should be stripped form South Africa and awarded to its rightful winners the All Blacks. South African rugby worse than Lance Armstrong.
Mikey Martinelli Lomu was never poisoned and we turned him into a lawn mower on that day and for the rest of his career against us from then on. Your kingpin who won you that England semi final at Newlands literally single handedly was found out. Laurie Mains is to blame for not having another game plan - what would have happened had Lomu being injured. Oh wait........
Brendon Joseph. Another game plan for half the squad suffering from food poisoning? Lol you're joking, right. What's amazing is the All Blacks still almost beat the cheating Boks, it took them to extra time LMAO. If the boot was on the other foot and the Boks were poisoned, NZ would have won by 80.
At that tournament the ABs were on another planet compared to all the other teams much more so than even 2015. And SAF could not beat the ABs afted 80min against a crook team it was a draw, i remember Wilson vomiting on live tv at half time. SAF only just beat the crippled ABs after 30min of extra time.
The Boks were brilliant that day, although they were way underdogs they played like men possessed, they contained Jonah Lomu, something no other team could do
More like satisfaction. What us kiwis always knew has finally been verified by a saffa himself. The only ones crying or trying to dig their way out of this are SA
We weren't only poisoned , the ref helped them to, so how can the AB go from destroying every team in 95 , and SA losing in pool play and scraping through the knock outs stages, poor France got ripped off also , another pay off ref in that game. You SA are dirty, corrupt, racist, thugs and actually ain't that good at PLAYING RUGBY, the whole world knows we should of won in 95 and those refs got a new Mercedes and a trip around the world for a year. The games in that world cup tells you the AB were lite years ahead of youz So admit it SA youz should of lost
Springboks never lost in the pool stages. Go and do some research before making comments like that. The beat Samoa 42-14 and narrowly beat the French in Durban during Hurricane Katrina in quaters and semi's respectively
The only hurricane there was the AB , and to use that as an excuse goes to prove for close games , your dreaming and a big win against Samoa wtf you make me sick , your a typical SA trying to hide from the truth
Go and fuck yourself Harris, you hypocrite - NZ are the cry babies of the rugby world, bunch on noonies, and you sound like the biggest one of the all. You lost the World Cup, remember? Twenty Fucking Three years later and you're still shitting yourself.
Haha, me a racist? You hypocrite - stop suffering in silence while you ignore the fact that you are still prejudiced because YOU ARE THE ONE who continuously plays the race card. As for rugby, so what if SA suck right now - you are still a fucking bad loser, fucking cry baby.
I for one am glad someone can finally admit it without being made up as lies. As bad as it may seem and as a proud New Zealander and fan of the All Blacks I can say this, give SA their moment it’s now part of history. Be proud of your achievements as you were also going through your own fair deal of issues and problems at this time. To all NZers we have the cup now and we are the first to go back to back to hold onto it. It wasn’t our time back than so just be glad “now” is the time that we have the floating rights.
It was our time that's why the ABs were poisoned. Look at all the ABs who never knew a World Cup victory, Laurie Maine's quit. They never got the plaudits they deserved.
Same old story when they lose they complain after how many years , bad sportsmanship, South africa is a better sporting nation then the all black they can only play rugby and complain! What about the racism in the all black team in the 90s stealing players from tonga samoa ,can remember how pat lam from samoa and all the other islands players use to complain they didn't care about the rugby growth only about winning they complain they came with their biggest weapon Lumo (RIP) and they lost if they was so sick why didn't they report the incident before the match like this turkey said it didn't happened before the match bad loosers the all black gets away with allot of shit referee's favorite team unlike teams like England Australia Ireland and all the othe countries they got a set of rules for their own team just ask the official on the field if the all black are that good why is figi and south Africa the best 7s teams wonder why because when there is 7 a side the all black dont have time to play their dirty game they are exposed No one is bigger than the game! Food poisoning my ass!
Things aren't looking too good in SA right now, I wonder who you're gonna poison 2023... jk. Hope you guys in SA reconcile with one another, the world is in peril rn.
Are you brain dead or just plain hateful? You listen to a video clip where the security clearly says SA rugby or SA had nothing to do with the food poisoning. He said it was a betting syndicate. Yet, you blame SA public who knew fokol about this. I have no sympathy for NZ for being poisoned just for the reason how you still react and blame innocent people who knew NOTHING about this. For your information, in 1995 only 20 % of the entire country knew rugby and only 10% watched it. Be careful who you Blame.
Saturday 2018/ 09/15 all blacks lost against the boks. Wonder what the excuse will be now. Nz 34 boks 36. Boks beat them with 14 men against 16. Go Bokke!
And that reason was scumbag betting syndicates. TBH the series win over the Boks in 1996 was better anyway. Beating South Africa in their own backyard was the final frontier for the All Blacks and they did it.
@Alfa&Omega 00000 ABS were the best team in 2011. France had To be in the finale . Wales was robed. For the springboks it is worst. The ABS were poisoned and springboks were doped. .
"Kiwi's won't let it go" ..... Hang on. Didn't someone make a movie about the "great victory by South Africa over the All Blacks"? No mention about 2 thirds of the team being poisoned in THAT crappy movie. Ah well, never mind. I'm sure some of the South African squad are looking for selection into a better team .... you know, like JAPAN ..... GO THE MIGHTY CHERRY BLOSSOMS!!!!!!
Funny how the interviewer is smerking, and why is there laughter at the end of that clip?, It wasn't funny then and it's not funny now😬😬😬. I believe the guy when he said S.A management was behind the poisoning but most likely the bookie's. Good on that guy for fronting that truth cause it's credible. I feel sorry for the players for S.A because it will always be a hollow victory and those bookie's deprived you of something truly special. The All Blacks will always have the 95 WC to reflect on for motivation.
1995 is speculation. 1981 was real. Go watch the footage on how your nation behaved - thats why we smirk. Because a lot of you Kiwis carry on as if you are perfect and then you often patronize the Afrikaners who actually gave natives a better deal than any English colony did. It got messed up in 1948 but before then they were better off than yours and you also accuse us of being dodgy cheats even with that Asutraliasian referee e-mail accidentally sent to SARFU. I am an English speaking South African and this is why the Afrikaners laugh at you and they have every reason to do so. Maybe you should partonize them less and learn to understand them more.
Yes, this was very bad and new improved security procedures around food and beverage consumption have been implemented since then, so i hope this doesn't happen again. Having said that, however I believe unification for South Africa under Nelson Mandela was far more important here than a game of rugby, it was the healing process of a wounded nation. I sometimes wonder what would South Africa be like if the All Blacks won in 1995 and what would rugby itself be like for the future if the All Blacks won that day. Was this the turning point for international teams to grow and realize you can beat the All Blacks, it's not just a wild dream, also on top of that the game of rugby going professional and the growth of the game was likely. The alternative was a dominant All Black and southern hemisphere cloud, which could have killed the game completely.
Wayne Shilcock South Africa is still wounded! it's the most racist country in Africa, the most unequal country in Africa with unemployment of over 27%, highest hiv infection rate in the world, plus some of the largest slums in the world! That 1995 bullshit was just a temporary fix. SA is in a dire state right now! Blacks (the Overwhelming majority) are so poor and destitute in their own fuckin country yet the ignorant media talks about 'change' . Absolutely bollocks!
Benny D sadly you had a bunch of presidents afrer Mandela that only saw one thing Money and how much they could benefit themselves and not the country.
Wayne Shilcock so cheating is ok if it "heals" a country (i don't think it did) or it stops the best team from winning for some greater good? Bollocks...!
Stick to a strict regime of eating sheep only, never mind how boring that diet might be ! And eating sushi in a restaurant next to a main sewage drain is never a good idea.
Ok, then please educate me on the route of transmission, symptoms +signs, pathophysiology at cellular level within the jejunum and ileum, duration of disease, treatment, prognosis of Rota and Noro virus?
They were an All Black side that on their day could put 50 points on any other side of that era. Could have beaten SA by at least 30 points. It shouldn't have even been close. No disrespect to SA, the AB's were peaking timed there run to perfection then the poisoning happened. Glad I didn't have a wager on. A blight on our sporting history that compares to the underarm bowling incident with Australia, Brian Mckechnie wasn't given the opportunity to smash them for six.
Attitudes like yours are a blight on your nation’s sporting history. Want to talk about a real blight? Umaga’s spear tackle on O’Driscoll in 2005, the list is massive, want me to go on?
The 1995 Springboks were an unknown entity, that basically took out the tournament favourites (you weren't even favourites, Australia was) and you are absolutely certain that you should have won by 30? How many points did Jonah score? How many had he scored in every other game he had played in? Yet Jonah, according to this video, was not poisoned? The All Blacks of 2015 absolutely destroyed France in the quarters and then came up against a SA side that were beaten by Japan for fucks sake, and only just crept into the semis by the skin of their teeth. Winning margin? 2 points. Your theory is starting to fall apart....
That's just a stupid comment - Lomu was 100% fit and got taken out in that game - he never scored a single try against us ever when he often played touch rugby with most other nations - that was where the difference was - without him I question if you would have got past England at Newlands in that semi! From 1996 onwards you had Cullen and Spencer and some other great players and you clearly changed your game plan from your large reliance on Lomu in a big way for the reasons I describe. In 1999 you came unstuck against the French because you also thought you had the game in the bag and ditto for 2003 and yes you were unlucky in 2007.
You are using very selective analysis here. Lets take the semi against England into account when your team was 100% fit - Lomu put that game away for NZ *on his own* in a very shirt space of time. *However* take Lomu's points contribution away and you would have actually lost that match! That's right - the only other person doing fancy things in that game was Brooke and his drop goals. Back in 1995 there were only probably four teams that could realistically take on NZ and France and Australia (the other two were England and SA) did not play you so I am not too sure you can claim you were on another planet. Lomu also created oodles of space for the other players. Christian Cullen highlighted that fact about playing with Jonah in a video here on RU-vid The difference between South Africa and the other teams is they actually tackled Lomu and turned him into a lawnmower this nullifying him and those around him. You won't admit it though and you won't take those points into account against England, nor the fact that you never played Australia and France and you would rather just call us cheats. Its easier than the truth. As for being cheats - every time you've toured our country you got treated like royalty. It was never proven we poisoned you. You might be too young but go see some of the footage of how our lads were treated from July to September 1981. Its shameful, you tormented our boys day and night for three months - we don't whine about it. And I can tell you right now a big chunk of the tormenting was not about politics - a big part of it was a lame scapegoat and perfect opportunity to deprive us of sleep and mentally mess with us to prevent us from winning. That third test was a series at 1:1 after we gave you a hiding in Wellington - that airplane and flower bombs was shocking behaviour not to say the least and your air force did not try to ground that plane either which means they were in on it and lets just leave it at that shall we.
Evidence, evidence and evidence thats all I'm asking for nothing else no trash talk no accusations no noththing just EVIDENCE please. No matter who you interview give me evidence. 23 years ago and you kiwis are still crying. OMG what is wrong with you? Just give me evidence this happened and I will ACCEPT it. Until then keep on crying. .
Frans van der Westhuizen well you can’t of if you are claiming ‘kiwis are still crying’ on a video of a SOUTH AFRICAN talking about it. You’d have to be pretty stupid to still be claiming it didn’t happen when everyone else knows it did.
Look Rugby is not a popular game worldwide . Let’s be really honest most English people do not even know the rules of the game , it is all football in England and Scotland it’s all football because football is there game . Only the crazy Welsh and NZ , South Africa rugby union is there game but worldwide it’s not going nowhere .
