Gotta say, for your bolt to stay extended like that, she's a sweetheart.

This one is certainly the exception and not the rule.

Mr Mannlicher was a genius designing that rifle. What an incredible piece of engineering.

Thank you, History in Firearms, for the instructive video. I disassembled, cleaned, scrubbed, oiled, stock finished and reassembled my M95 rifle. Everything went together easily except for inserting the bolt into the receiver. I was missing the last step, to cam out the bolt head before sliding into the receiver. You brought my frustration and hair pulling to an end!

Glad the video helped! Keeping that bolt head out can be a bit tricky on these 100 year old well used bolts!

What a great video! I have a new extractor to install which I’ve had at least 10 years! Back in action now!

@@HistoryinFirearms I got my M95 years ago and it has been sitting in the safe. I recently pulled it out to compare to the one RowCall219 picked up this year. Lots of different marking to determine when they were made, when they were sent back to the arsenal, and what country used them. Eventually I will make up some handloads for it and find a bayonet. More projects than time and money. Thanx for making these videos.

Thank you for your video! However, I still don't understand what keeps the bolt head protruding. Why is it necessary to tap it before starting to disassemble? Perhaps there is some internal structure that keeps it protruding?
@HistoryinFirearms
@HistoryinFirearms Месяц назад
You are welcome! I believe it us just friction that keeps the bolt head protruding. They typically end up retracting with a slight bump and can be difficult to keep pulled out. Taping the bolt head retracts it, if it hasn't been already, and then reduces spring pressure as your are disassembling the bolt.

I love how your's snaps into place, yet mine is just sitting here doing nothing 2 hours later. It'll work great so long as the firing pin isn't attached. I have no clue what in the hell I'm doing wrong.

I used to know why this specifically happens, but the bolt head won’t stay in the extended position when fully assembled. I think it has something to do with the extractor, but I was wondering if a fix is possible.
@HistoryinFirearms
@HistoryinFirearms 3 года назад
I think it's just wear on the cam surfaces. As they get more wear that spring pressure causes it to cam on it's own.

@@HistoryinFirearms Very informative and easy to follow. My bolt head doesn't stay extended, but I remembered a US dime is the right size to hold the bolt head for removal and installation in the receiver.

Is M.95 havin gas vent hole in receiver? In case of ruptured ammo case?

I can't get the bolt to seat all the way back into the bolt body so i can screw on the cocking peice, any help?
@HistoryinFirearms
@HistoryinFirearms 2 года назад
Check the alignment of the flat side of the firing pin and also that the cam groove on the firing pin nut is aligned with the groove on the bolt. It's a bit of a puzzle but it's all got to be aligned to fit back in.
