Do you want to know of the easiest, quickest, and most affordable ways to anchor your boat, kayak, or paddleboard in shallow water?
It's an stick anchor!
You’re drifting across the flats looking for a school of redfish…
Then all of a sudden, they pop up right in front of you!
You quickly cast out to them, hook up immediately, and it’s game on!
But then you notice you’re about to drift right into the school and spook them all off.
What do you do?
If you had a stick anchor, there would be no problem.
Stick anchors let you quickly and quietly anchor up without banging around a loud, heavy anchor.
In this video, I’m going to share with you:
- how to properly use a stick anchor
- how much stick anchors cost
- how to choose the right stick anchor for the type of area you fish in
- and much more
Check out the video below to learn all about stick anchors!

Informative video. I just bought a used Bass boat and a couple of these were included with the boat. I wasn't sure how to use them. Now I know how. Thanks again. 👍👍

Putting two of these on my "gotta get" list for my 20' deckboat. Looks a heck of a lot more convenient than the normal anchor.

It's definitely easier than traditional anchors as long as you're in shallow water and the bottom isn't rocky.

I use portable rod holders that swivel and mounted them to the side of either boat, that way you can store it along side of boat and don't need a straight line to store them use velcro strap to keep in place. Use the dollar store noodle about 6 inches and tie my anchor rope between that and the handle.

That'll get the job done!

I took a chance on a Stick-Pin back in January of last year for my 16 footer... Game changer! Easy to use and so quite to deploy and retrieve. However! Make sure that your tether is connected to the pole and to the boat. My first tether was a velcro type that went around the pole, yep I was stupid to think that would hold when it got windy. Also, I never leave without my Danforth type anchor but it gets lonely. Thanks Luke good content and as always Tight Lines and Full Limits To Ya 🎣

A good carbon fiber and fiberglass paddle stuck in the grass works great from the kayak in skinny water. Know what your bottom is of course. Shove it down, tie it off, and use the paddle for balance when dismounting the kayak to get out and wade. I like to get into the super skinny at dead low tide where I know there will be tailing reds and wait for them to show up when the water starts to slide up onto the flat. Lots of elements here are parallel with hunting. Slip in your setup before your quarry come through. Wait for your them to come into your setup. Be ready. Wait for the best moment. Make a good shot. With my jon boat I use a bamboo pole and it lives against the gunwale of the boat until I want to either use it like a kayak paddle, a push pole, or shove it down in the mud or sand and tie off. Bamboo is free and biodegradable.

I just made 2 poles for my kayak. 6 ft. solid fiberglass tree stakes from walmart on clearance for 3.50 each and 5 dollars worth of pvc fitting from local hardware store. Thanks for tip about pool noodle was concerned about them falling over and sinking.

Yea, I’m gonna have to get one of these. Tired of my trying to anchor in a cove and failing over and over and over for 30+ minutes like I did earlier today.

I have two Stick-it Anchor Pins. Use on a 21’ bassboat. Bought first one probably 7 years ago and trimmed it down to fit in rod locker (7’ 5”). Second is 8’ and used often....including four times today!

Small revision: The second anchor is made by PowerPole and bought at Bass Pro Shop. Used it so I could type this correction.

Great thoughts! I made an anchor pole myself. I cut an 8' stick of 1" schedule 40 pvc pipe in half, put a male adapter on one end and a female adapter on the other for joining the two 4' pieces together on the water where needed, put a tee one one end for the handle and saw cut the ground end on a 45 degree angle for the sturdy point. I put a 3' piece of grey foam pipe wrap for 1" pipe on the upper 4' piece for floating and tied on a 10' piece of rope on. The two 4' pieces are easy to store, the point goes into any bottom and it works all for under $10.00. Of course you can make the sections any size or quantity you want and as long as you prefer.
@bigd7861
@bigd7861 3 года назад
^^^THIS!!!^^^ Add additional male/female connections for more length. Optional: Cut an aluminum or stainless steel pipe at an angle and rivet inside of the PVC tip for an even more durable pointy end. Option 2: Shove the INSIDE of the rod, near the handle.

Another use for them is for a depth indicator. I've marked where the gunwale would be on the pole if I run aground.

I have the yak attack park and pole for use in my kayak. Two 4 foot increments that screw together and floats. Also I bought an additional 4 foot length to add to 8 foot for 12 total for pole use in the flats. Works great. 😮

I've been using a 10' stick pin for a few years. Use a swim noodle on it. The noodles from Walmart are too wide inside, the dollar tree noodles are perfect. We use it on the rear with a standard river anchor up front. The rear stick-it keeps the boat from swaying. 1800# boat. Only problem we have is boats flying by in a no wake zone. Their illegal wake can pull a stick jammed 3' deep into the bottom

I have a rod rack across the back of my boat it holds 6 monster rod holders my point is I would want 2 sticks one on each side of the boat to keep the stern square with the area I'm fishing.
