I completely dig (agree with) popping, spinning (stick baiting) and jigging with the rod upright. I have seen many fish lost in the transfer from rod down to rod up. Good on ya Briggsy. It shows a lot of experience and good sense.

When I explain the fun of fishing to people I always tell them I give the fish a little tour above water. "Look, there is some grass, and those are sheep!" I actually did with a nice 2 feet barbel haha

Top work brigsy! You deserve a good reward if gt catches given how crook you and Timmy were in this trip! If anyone has earned a descent and memorable fish for the trip, it would be you and Timmy for sure. By the sounds you were both that unwell, most normal dudes would be drs or hospital bound. We're full time on it now (as of a couple months ago) but there's a lot of behind the scenes work on the Morningtide Business stuff so not all fun and games! Still we're getting to go fishing about 7 days of each month now on a big trip so we're stoked as. The $s isn't amazing yet but we can pay the bills and eat from our youtube channels so it's a great feeling either way!

Yeah the Ripple is bloody amazing man, so forgiving but powerful at the same time, it feels like I'm only limited by my own strength/weight and i think someone who had 20kg on me would be able to really test the ripple (i'm about 65kg in this film). Looking at ordering a second one just in case something happens to this one! And yeah definitely ready for a big fella now, doesn't have to be massive but one I can clearly say's up over 30kg is what I'm after.

Briggsy I mean look at those old Videos of Denny hooked up to those fish in your first collab videos. He’s no pipsqueak and he’s hanging on for dear life! You’ve got the mean power stance and while you may only weigh 65kg, you know how to leverage yourself properly. Maybe time to be like Ed from NBO and start training to fight GT for your trip eh? I look at the old videos on his channel and he’s got legit training footage like Rocky except to fight these monsters. Just goes to show how brutal they are man. Congrats on the PB brew, you can definitely tell right around that 30kg Mark they start taking on a slightly different shape in the head and their mouths just look ridiculous man

Haha funny you mention that mate, I've dead set been at it for about 6 weeks now, put on around 5kgs, dumbell bench press went from 10kg per arm for 10 upto 22.5kg per arm for 10. Deadlifts (my knees are pretty damaged/weak) went from the bar (so 20kg), upto 70kg without snapping anything. Feel strong as F^*k and it hasn't been long at all. But yeah I'm fully lifting for Gs now and ed doing it was definitely one of the motivating factors, he put the idea in my head for sure!

Briggsy haha that’s awesome man! Feel like one’s physical strength and conditioning is definitely an overlooked aspect of fighting any of the major psycho species, especially on spin gear. I’ve seen videos of guys getting brought to their knees, crumpled into the gunnel etc etc. I think that could pay off in spades man, keep up the hard work!

Bro I may be 16,000 km away but I without a doubt feel the same way just about a different species of fish! Hi Mate, thats good to hear haha makes me feel less mental to know others are like that! Moon Phase was the build up to the full, was a weird trip because this was about 4 days off the full and it seemed like this first day was the best and it got more shutdown towards the full. We usually aim for the build up to the new but the weather overrides that and if it's calm on the build up to the full we just go cus it maybe howling for the new.

I've only ever hooked a GT once... It was on light gear and he snapped me off on the rocks just as I was about to land him. I consider these videos training manuals, I'm studying hard because one of these days I'm gonna find a ledge of my own bring in the GT of a lifetime. And if I die falling off a cliff on some uninhabited island somewhere... I'm putting it in my will that Briggsy made me do it.

Great video. I’m from the states and we don’t have fishing like that here but would be awesome. I’ve always wanted to catch a gt. I fish lure like those for tuna in California but we use conventional gear for those tuna. If you hook a 100+ pound tuna on a spinning rod it’s not fun you can’t put it on the rail and kill the fish faster. Seen guys use poppers for tuna on spinning gear and just absolutely wrecked since they have to hold onto it for hours trying to land them.

Briggsy mate I'm moving to WA from the UK in January, and 50% of the reason I'm moving to oz is because of you and morningtide. These videos just pull me in and i've been watching for a few years knowing I have to target GTs from the rocks. Lure fishing is it for me but you guys embody the pinnacle of the sport. you just need to know your shit is insanely inspiring and your attitude to fishing is infectious!! so buzzing to get over, get a fat set up and go up north searching my first !!! keep it up Man you fuckin legend

Timmy: "You should see when I body hook a bream!" Dry as a nun's nasty, even when sick as a dog. Interesting that the first one hit on a straight retrieve, and the second one only a couple of moments after you'd been straight retrieving. That lure must swim very well.
