To be fair, this is an uncompressed version. But the original is still amazing

yes, the technical work Wise had to do (on top of.. you know, the fucking compositions) in order to make this work within the limitations of the SNES is incredible. he emulated the Korg Wavestation process, manually recorded/imported individual samples, and sequenced them to make these seemingly long-lasting/evolving sounds. there are youtube videos/interviews that explain the whole process much better than i have. also, no offense to the person that recreated/posted this, but the recording off the original hardware sounds so much better.

This and for example almost all Wise and Uematsu tracks are pure miracles when you understand the limits of the hardware. They have made music that compares to huge classic music geniuses but still only few will understand.

How did you just make me nostalgic I wasn't even born back then. I'd get nostalgic over the first returns game more.

I remember on 5th grade every Friday my mom took me to blockbuster to rent a game.

Nostalgia is strange, you will have songs that will do the same to you as you get older. For me, the music always makes me think of cut grass.. and I am pretty sure it is because that was the chore my Dad made me do and I was stuck on this level and just wanted to keep trying so bad but I wasn't allowed to do that until I had mowed the lawn. I can still see that old CRT TV, the blue carpet of my bedroom, the red light on SNES as it sat paused...

Nothing's better than a good childhood memory. I used to play this game along with my dad's client's grandchildren when he was cutting her grass. After some years they gave me the broken console and the cartridges. Some years later I got a working console and I bought back the cartridges I've sold to a friend. My nostalgia was back!

Same here I owned both DKC 2&3 and could play DKC anytime cause my Godmother’s husband had it By far, DKC2 is my favourite and words cannot convey exactly how this game makes me feel It appeared in the SNES emulator on the switch and i played it and finished it at 103% in a matter of days and i genuinely felt like shit when it was all over

IIRC it was originally composed for water levels, but they ended up replacing them with the bramble levels.

I still remember thinking why this music was playing in a non water level when i was a kid, the serene ambiance is more in line with them.

This song makes me extremely sad. It doesn't need any lyrics to do that. It's essence is full of emotion and it takes me back in time, filling me with nostalgia and remembrance of better, simpler days, even though I never even touched a DK game. It's things as small as this piece of music that makes us feel alive and appreciate what we've been through. Growing older does suck, but it's part of what makes life beautiful. The fact that it's limited. This song is damn beautiful.

I recall going to my friends house back after elementary school in the 90's around the time this game had first come out and we played this game for the first time, eating pizza at the same time.... ahhhh... I miss those days. this song definitly makes me feel nostalgic

rexrabbiteer I hear you... No recent games will ever be able to create such a Nostalgia for the new generation, just like no songs coming out leaves a footprint in people's mind. I religiously play the DKC SNES series once a year with my brother to relive the good old times and everytime we get to this level we pause the game, and remind ourselves of happy times we had growing up.

Nothing makes me more mad than hearing the phrase "grow up", as if that's what is expected out of all of us. Since my original comment I've worked on slowing down the pace of my life, even whooped out my old SNES from the attic and played this wonderful game again with my brother last week. Pausing each and every level to listen to the soundtracks and talking about our youth and what moments marked us the most. It felt great :)
