Stigma, COVID-19, and their Impact on Substance Use, Substance Use Disorder and Overdose 

February 21, 2024: Chukwuemeka Okafor, PhD, MPH, Assistant Professor at UT Health San Antonio, describes how participants will gain insights into how stressors, isolation, and economic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic influence patterns of substance use, substance use disorders, and overdose rates. The session will also explore recent increases in substance use as a coping mechanism and changes in the availability of substances.
