Great video, I’ve just purchased this chainsaw, my sons laugh at me because my tools are always so clean I’ve even been asked if I actually use them, it’s great to see someone like yourself sir that actually cleans is tools after use and yes my father taught me that very same saying, look after your tools and your tools will look after you, thanks for sharing.

Hello from across the pond SkipperT Great video, just purchased a C-BE 181 your video is great, explains everything really well in a calm and precise manor, great to watch this video after you have read the supplied instructions. Good to see everything hands on. (Good Job).

That was a very good video....you were very informative. I really appreciated your taking each step slowly so we could understand the process. I am 78years old and a former chainsaw carver....just wanted to see I had everything put together properly......think I did. Thank you so much

Congratulations, you are the first person that I have seen on utube that seems to know own how the air flows into a 180/170 stihl saw. It uses the top cover as a plenum for the incoming air to the carburator. Folks that complain about sawdust getting into the engines are either running them without the top cover being installed or not cleaning the air box, periodically.

Just a note, I noticed at the end of your video that you started the saw with the blade clutch in the off position. Always have the blade clutch locked in the off position so when the engine starts the blade will not run. Thanks for the video !

Correct chain tightening procedure - snug it up to the bottom of the bar and lift the bar up and resnug it to the bottom of the bar. Always rotate the chain on the bar to insure it is engaged in the sprocket.

I learned so much from watching your video! I have very little experience with a chainsaw but plan to buy one for my birthday. We have a Stihl dealer right down the road and will likely get either this saw or the 170. Thanks for a great teaching video.

I use my air compressor and an old paint brush to clean up my saws. My standard 180 is easy to start, too. A couple of pulls in cold start and a couple of pulls in warm start. I just throw my chain down on the bench and most debris falls off. If I got it in the dirt I wash it off with old two cycle and blow it off with compressed air. I wash the sprocket cover in the kitchen sink with Dawn and hot water and let air dry in the sun. I also blow out the air box and engine cover with compressed air. I also clean the bar Every time after I use it, including blowing out the oil holes in the bar. My ms 181 is a CBE, so I know how it works

Thank you Skip. That's my brothers nick name, lol. I hadn't used my saw for a while and certain details were fuzzy to me. Your very well made video brought it all back to me.

Thank you for your video. When I was young I was always around Stihl saws, but never operated one. My uncles always ran them and I ran the wood splitter. I guess they didn't want me to take their job or they were afraid of me cutting off a body part. Fast forward a decade or so. I retired my Poulan wild thing for a Stihl 180 C-BE. I love this little saw. Just have to train myself how to sharpen the chain. I was told after every oil/gas fill. Give your saw a break by sharpening the chain. I sharpen it and it don't go straight. So I'll buy a sharpening guide to help me have a nice sharpen chain

Crisp Cuts Landscaping true but I am a tight wad with money. I'll sharpen it till there is no teeth on the chain lol

Just got another one from a sale today.........Thanks for having these vids on it. I threw my last one to the shithouse because it was a bit of a turd to start while warm. But, man, once you sort out the start procedure (like all saws) the new one's a piece of piss. Cheers.

What happen if the chain falls off ,it could damage that setting wheels for the chain.
@scatter1390
@scatter1390 4 года назад
As in all saws.........Yes, but depending on how your day is going will depend on how much damage it does to the sprocket, crank, covers etc. Thereforehenceforth, it will be a guage on how pissed off you will become with the bloody thing...................Also, the above will determine how far you will rage-throw the fugger into the bush.
