On my way to cut up my last Cypress stick, I noticed this little number in another Farmer's paddock.
I called in and asked if I could have it and two weekends later it was secured.
Lay back and enjoy the flick.

While watching this video all I keep thinking is table tops, end tables, coffee tables, pub tables. I used to cut up big oaks and maples with a Homelite 750 with a 43" bar. There were always some people in the neighborhood where I was cutting asking for a 2-3" slab.

881 takes a bit of hanging on to,bet you felt it the next day.What chain where you using ,full chisel or semi .I’ve been using the semi for years it lasts longer in drier wood and it’s only a bit slower cutting .big bit of timber though nice job.

Once you get the bar on the wood, provided you’ve got a sharp chain, the weight’s transferred to the log, so it’s not too bad, it pretty much cuts itself. I once cut a rather large Cypress stick just using the smaller 066 and a 25” bar, that was hard work 😓. I use a Rapid Super full chisel chain, I don’t notice any more longevity using semi chisel, but that’s just me, whatever works for the individual I guess? With the 881 and the 47” bar, I rung it right back to the buttress without the need to sharpen the chain, that was full chisel! Just the horizontal stuff was harder. Thanks for your comment.

Nice video .I have to agree ,I come from across the ditch in southern NSW and I hate the southerly’s here too any where south of Sydney is a ice box.

Hi Schitt, Do you run 3/8 chain on the 660 and .404 on the 881?

Yes I do. Dude, FFS tell your better half that I said you’re to get an 881 this Christmas, with a 5’ bar, even if it’s for nothing more than to adorn the duchess of the boudoir. “Every man needs an 881!”

How do you like the 881? Do you think m tronic would make it better?

I know nothing of 'M Tronic', I don't know if it would be better or worse. Yes, I really love the 881. Thanks.

It would have given it better performance for ppl not excellent at tuning a manual carb. That's about it. Having said that, I love m-tronic and stihl's injection system. I have a TS 500i bought in 2012 and it saw some serious use (2100 hours so far, checked on stihl tester), dust and water on and around it constantly, and it's still running now 10 years later. 33:1 with motul 800 off road, the mechanic was shocked when he saw the piston. I did change and clean the air filter religiously. No visible wear so far on the inside, the compression is the same as new. I have a 500i chainsaw bought last year, I expect it to last a long time as I take care and maintain my tools. Recently got a 881, feeding it the same gas mix of 33:1. In milling, this makes a huge difference. So many saws ran 50:1 that I've seen with lower bearings getting a beating and premature wear/failture at under 1000 work hours. But no such cases with 40:1 or lower, no matter the oil. I hope my experience helps others.

@@em4703 so you like the Motul oil ..?Never used it my self ,I’ve had good results from Castrol synthetic TT ,think it’s racing bike oil,saws that are nearly 20 year old and never had any problems.

That stuff is hard on your chains and your gear
@SeriousSchitt
@SeriousSchitt 2 года назад
It sure is. I did however, manage to get all the way up to 11:17 without having to sharpen the chain. Overall, I only needed to sharpen the chain twice and twice for the 066. I didn’t have to actually chalk any complete chains up to this job, which was great. Thanks for your comment.
