I swear by my little MS 192T. Great for dealing with limbs and small trees. Used it today to take down a limb which had smashed two smaller trees. Took down the two smaller trees and the limb predominantly with the MS 192T, although it did get pinched and my Husqvarna 455 Rancher had to help it out a bit. Between these two saws I feel pretty confident I can handle virtually all of our trees on our 100 acre farm. Love this channel, keep up the great work.

I bought the 193 T December of 2020, have gone thru 5 tanks of fuel so far & am very happy with it. It has been up in trees trimming using 13 of the 14 in bar. Will do the job.

Wish I had known you were looking for a 192T. I rebuilt one right around April. I got it from a pawn shop for $50. Ran erratic. Did a leakdown test and found a leak around the pan gasket. I put in new crank seals, sealed up the pan with Yamabond, rebuilt the carb, put in a new air filter, new throttle cable, a new chain, and new Caber piston rings. The crank bearings were good so I left them alone. When I was done the saw had 165 lbs of compression. Had I known you wanted one I would have sold it to you cheap. I kind of owe you for the knowledge and expertise you have passed along in small engine repair. At any rate, as a small engine mechanic myself, you have my gratitude for all of your videos. It's always nice learning new things from people like you that, no doubt have forgotten more about small engine repair than I will ever learn myself.

Thank you DonnyBoy73 for making this video. I purchased one after watching it around the end of February. I have this old Pecan tree that was in desperate need of pruning. Thankfully, because of its light weight, it made it easy to carry up the tree using the loop, and was very manageable with one hand operations( I know two hands). When I purchased it, the rep. at ACE told me that if I bought the oil/fuel mix (large can) it would extend the warranty one more year, so now I have plenty of fuel and an added year of warranty. I think I will buy the 200 model as I want to mill some large oak trees that were felled by some pros. a couple of years ago. Thanks again.

Tip : No need to Prime just full choke. Turn choke off when it sputters usually the 2nd pull and starts on the 3rd pull. The dealer told me no need to prime when purchased and I never have! Great saw! I like the larger chain as well.

Any chainsaw is going to have something that could be better or improved. As far as I'm concerned. Stihl chainsaws are the best. I've been climbing for 15 years. My more expensive Stihl chainsaw was stolen from me and I needed a chainsaw quick to do a very nice paying job. If you really actually know what you're doing up in a tree . Then,..for the money. You cannot beat this chainsaw.

hi dony, I have a 2012 Troy built tb230 with a 6.75hp engine. for a year it's been making a noise like a rattle or something when it hits a good rpm. I was told it's the rod but I know what a rod knock sounds like and it's not even near it. when I go over tall grass it stops the noise and comes back. it's not the blade I know that but I don't know what the nose is. I can put a video Up on my channel if you need to listen to it. what do you think it is and what can I do.

This saw is also a professional grade saw along with the 201t. The 201 is just the upper end model. I think they are both great saws. One advantage to this over the 201t-cm is you can adjust the carb.

This one has a fundemental update over the 192T. The 193T is a Stratified engine now, or so as STIHL call it "2-Mix" technology where the engine from the intake through it's cylinder&piston's transfer ports are different, more complex and designed to have an extra air flow in a unique pattern & timing to add power while reduce emissions.

This chainsaw is the best of Stihl. Lightweight, powerful for one-handed use, with easy-start reliability. The added weight of the 201 isn't worth the trade up for its extra 7cc's of power. Unless you need the 201 in-tree, this is the small saw to have IMO.

You mentioned in the beginning of the video that you wanted to make the chain last longer. I totally agree. The amount of time it takes to maintain a chain is the biggest problem with owning and using a chainsaw. That's why I mostly use carbide chains, especially on the bars I use most often. Carbide chains last more than ten times as long between sharpening for me. The time I waste touching up the chains was costing way too much compared to the cost of the chain.

I really like it a lot here on the farm when trimming trees and such. Okay I have 4 ms170's with 16" bars that I run 8 hours a day 7 days a week Logging, land-clearing, thinning and I admit that I can get them a little hot now & then and also I have to tinker with them often including disassembling, repairing, replacing, ect. and I do take very good care of them. These home owner saws are tough and get beat every day. I use only stihl premium mix , good gas & quality parts when needed. I'm gettin a little tired of tare downs & my newest 170 is giving me more problems than the others, most likely due to working it to hard. Dony what Stihl saw with 16" bar would you recommend for me to buy. Forums & reviews are rattling my brain for the past few years and I would like to move on to a stihl saw that would hold up to my needs & also be cost effective. Sure would like to get your opinion for my options.

I have this exact same saw. I have been an arborist since the 1980s. Rather than coach you on a few deficiencies, I just recommend keeping the manual!! Do as it says. Very little outside of that is good, unless you have massive professional experience. Watch out, too, for going outside of the instructions. You can very easily void your warranty!! I will say though, this top handle isn't just good for cutting branches, it is FOR pruning trees! That's why it is so compact. Please, use your ear plugs or muffs!

@TheToolnut
@TheToolnut 6 лет назад
Rickshaw Jack Drum sprockets are mostly found on home owner type saws although not always. They are expensive to replace and imo produce lower chain speeds than a rim sprocket. Rim sprockets are cheaper to replace and are mostly found on pro saws. I find my saws peform better with a rim sprocket fitted.

Dear Sir: I have owned a stihl ms192t for about 2 1/2 years. I really enjoy this saw. Just great for pruning orchards. The 192t has carb adjusting screws. I understand that the 193t has an intele-carb carb installed. Does this saw have any carb adjust ? Do you know of any way of adjusting the carb without a computer tie in to the carb. Is there any port on the carb that will allow you to program the carb? Thanks

+jim wright Hello Jim, I'm going to buy a top handle saw myself and as I couldn`t decide between the 192t or 193t (both are available here in spain where I live) I went to speak to my local stihl dealer's mechanic to get his opinión. He's worked on both saws and reckoned that the 193 was better made, he said that there were various small changes made to improve the saw in general, stronger crank-case, clutch cover nut you cant lose, apart from the intellicarb, which has plastic limiters installed to prevent tuning, the carb is pre-set to ensure smooth operation in conjunction with the new muffler , both designed to reduce emmisions and protect the environment. He has clients that use both saws professionally and although wary at first, said they're very happy with the 193, finding it equally as reliable and more 'torquey' than the 192, which is a proven machine. He also said that it wouldn't be too difficult to remove the limiting plugs ,re-tune the carb and modify the muffler to gain some more power if you feel that way inclined, although as far as he knew none of his clients had seen any need to do so. I`m going to pick mine up this week. I trust this guy's opinión, he could have sold me either saw and had no reason to steer me toward one in particular. hope this is helpful. Matthew Somers
@matthewsomers4569

Hello Dony Having watched your review a few times, I bought myself an ms193t this week. I was undecided at first, I'd heard that they didn?t perform as well as the 192t which is still available here in Spain where I live. I looked around for some more information and spoke to a guy on an arborist site forum who'd worked on and with both saws and he reckoned that they were both very good , he'd found the 193 to be both very tough and powerful for it's size. He also mentioned that it`s posible to make a simple muffler mod which improves overall performance without damaging the saw, I'll add a link below just in case you'd like to check it out. I used mine today for the first time and was very impressed with how well it cut, I got it mainly to do light work, pruning, clearing and working from a ladder, it handled everything with ease sailing through thicker branches too 8-10 inches. I was working on and off for about 4 hours in all and didn't feel tired, this saw's so light. I noticed the throttle response is a little slower than on my other Stihl saws, especially when started from cold, but once the revs are up, it cuts really well. I'm very pleased with it overall. I'd like to take this opportunity to thank you for your channel, it's excellent, you're a gifted teacher and your videos are so well made, they have been a huge help to me on many occasions when I've had mechanical problems and had almost given up. Thank you and please keep up the good work, Matthewlink: Introducing ths Stihl MS193T/Aboristsite.com

Looks like a really good saw, especially for occasional use. Nice to have the break-in and oil tips. Also - would a Honda GX120 that is overspeeding/not governing cause carburetor flooding. I know that is not related to this video, but I need some advice. Thanks!!

I can comment from expérience on such combination right now in spring with soft wood original works great on small stuff on hard wood with .50 it goes easy évén on larger stuff but keep rakers high . Original stuff doesn"t feed into hard wood by itself so you end up pushing the chain in the tree( I get tired) bot combinations are respective l'y good

I wonder if battery saws are the future . I used one on a willow tree and was impressed. Plus I get highly annoyed if it takes as many pulls to get started as the saw in this video. I am a beginner , maybe 50 trees so far .I always use lines tied to other trees to keep them from falling on the neighbors property

He obviously dropped the big ones and we just chunked them up on the ground as we had no heavy equipment available. Had the city take down the electric lines in advance as the lot was very narrow and he wanted to avoid any hassle. They were pine trees and no danger to the house as they were at the back of the lot. Clean up took a few days, but we got it all.

@@donyboy73 Thanks for getting back to me. Im currently cutting these types of branches with my sawzalls equipped with pruning blades, but it sometimes can take a while if there are knots or sap that im cutting through. I was doing some reading and found that i can put a more aggressive chain and bar on the saw as well as dog spikes. when you are you are saying that it may be slow, is that with stihl's default low kickback bar and chain, or is that if i were to use the same bar and chain that you are using your video? If you get a chance, can you cut through some larger tree sections?

@@shauncatlett6066 may be slow cutting through a 10" log but it can do it. I use a .050g bar and chain. They usually come with the .043g. The ms201t has a lot more pep for what you're doing

@@donyboy73 Thanks for clarifying what you were using on that MS 193T. I was initially also looking at the MS 201TCM, but backed off from it due to it being $680 and the mixed reviews i saw on the M-Tronic controller that it uses. Is the m-tronic feature any good, is it more trouble than its worth? Im not an arborist and dont use my saws everyday, but when they are used, they used very heavy. I will go with your suggestion if the power justifies the price point.

that will do it for sure..make sure you completely empty your fuel can before putting new fuel and oil in..if you leave an inch of fuel in there and add more fuel, and oil, well you just added too much oil, and your mixture is going to be off..
