Stihl SG20 Backpack Sprayer Review 

You know they make a defoamer for chemical application. Wilbur Ellis makes a good one. One pump in the tank and it will never foam.

Sherpa seat belt protectors from Walmart they come in black and cost around 2$ each also one inch garden knee pad the flat one harbor freight has a great one zip tie it to the back its much better it cost around 5$ this modification helps me a lot i only add 3 gallons to mine...

Just used at scout camp. No foaming issues. Carried the full tank 1/2 mile on goat trail and started spraying. Straps were fine. Best sprayer I have used and have used many.

I've never had a foaming issue with mine. I've owned mine for over 8 years with only maintenance having to replace a rubber line. Best sprayer out there in my opinion.

Water first.. Chemical second. :/

I don’t recommend “Crouching Down” when ya have 5 gallons in the back pack!..unless ya have someone to help ya back up again.

Fill with water first and then add chemical to stop the foaming.

From time to time it seems that liquid will get into the air tank of this model and you will notice that you constantly have to pump and keep pressure on the handle. If this happens I empty the tank then I put the top back on the empty tank and continue to spray and pump until there is no liquid coming out. It works every time. I really like this pump a lot. Very durable and not to heavy if you can avoid putting to much liquid in the tank.

Pretty awesome review and format. The unit seemed to have very strong flow rate too - good job! Can you adjust the nozzle (twist) for different patterns, or do you have to change it out for that?

They make them with out a lot of padding for the reason that they do not want the chemical to soak in.

As far as the foaming up , if you use a hose fill up on the side of the tub , there's less foaming!

We have 1.03 Acre and it takes us 16 gallons to kill all of the weeds in the immediate area..not the whole acre of course.

I bought one years back. I don't know if they made any improvements since, but the one I had was the biggest Piece of sh**. Problem after problem.

just buy some replacement pads for backpack straps.

Add the chemical after youve filled with water... It doesn't foam then!

Need a body mic. The music is also distracting.
