Just recently purchased the 161T for a job in the city that HAD to happen at night, loved the saw, we could talk without yelling and hold conversations while we were working. Nice to see you climbing, beautiful sight
First of all, I am so, so, so happy that this was the first video that came up when I googled reviews for the MSA 161 T. Thank you so much for the review, I have been debating getting the MSA 161 T or the new 194. I'm sold on this saw, for sure! You go girl! Much love!
Found your channel 2 days ago. Watched over half your videos already. I’ve been an arborist for coming on 20 years. Great content and informative. A refreshing change from the look at me Hollywood style video (I think they’re cool too). Keep up the great work.
I have been watching your RU-vid videos for a while good honest reviews. The STIHL battery powered stuff is really good 👍 I love using this little saw I have a 10” inch bar on mine use it for small firewood cuts and also use one handed 😲 I suppose everyone else does to. You have the best job reviewing STIHL products keep up the good work and stay safe.
I am looking around for a saw like this and have watched a number of other you tube videos today but yours is by far the best! Your presentational style is excellent, I particularly liked the timed comparison for cutting through difference types of wood. Thank you.
Nicely done video! I use a Stihl MSA 200 C-BQ for trail building here in the Canadian Rockies. Excellent saws for sure. Light enough to carry all day in my backpack on foot or on a mtn bike or motorcycle. Amazing how long the batteries last also. Not nearly as powerful as a gas saw but you’d be surprised what they can cut through. Thanks for the review!
Yesterday I use both the Sthils 220 and the 161 T battery power, the wood was oak and sure not big trees mostly limbs. what is almost unbelievable is that the same battery on 161T lasts twice as long.
When I purchased my battery saw, I thought I was probably making a mistake with this "toy". It is NOT just a "toy", it is a JOY to use and really works great. I have had it for several years now and used it a lot for small jobs. Mine is from a company that make a large variety of companion tools; trimmers, blowers, snow removal, mowers, zero turn rider mowers, hedge trimmers, etc., all using same battery types. Very convenient.
A great addition to this saw is a set of Bumper spikes! helps making straight cuts when section felling and helps to guide the saw when cross cutting instead of having to "wiggle" it through!
Keep Smiling and Doing What You Do! Great Too Have Females Reviewing Saws, More Honesty and Precise Attention To Details, Cheers From Down Under Australia
Another awesome review , always enjoy seeing a new video from you they are so informative and helps me see new techniques and equipment for me to implement into my business
MSA 161T a team with great power, in Chile we incorporated it a while ago. I have to carry out the training of this equipment to our distributors. good video
I think it's worth mentioning the vibration levels (sorry if you did and I missed it) amazingly low havs pretty much the same as a battery powered drill 👍
I’m a climber like you. My shoulders been giving me more issues now that I’m getting older. I’d like this so I don’t have to pull the cord as much. Can it handle real work is my question. Without worrying about battery.
This might be old news but I just found it. (STIHL is recalling arborist chainsaw MSA 161 T. This recall concerns chainsaws with serial numbers from 438089138 up to and including 439360915. Using this chainsaw, when gripping the machine, the shift lever may be pushed over without the lock button is pressed. After pushing it over, the shift lever may get stuck.Feb 28, 2019) Love your videos.
I love your videos. Some of them had weak audio somewhat overpowered by the background music. This problem has been rectified in others of yours. As others have commented your smile is beautiful! Keep making these videos.
I often have to prune about 90 large full size 11 foot cherry trees per day with about 30 cuts per tree, that meant using about 6 fuel up's per day on the 150T, even with the high quality premium fuel from gas stations that means breathing in the toxic additives that can cause many serious health issues, but while the Stihl gas pre mix is far better it is like smoking cigarets all day. I switched to the 161T and my health conditions and energy level and sleep improved greatly in a few weeks, also there is less vibration on the hands. with the amount of cuts I do, I still do wear some ear protection, but at the same time its good to hear the sound of the electric motor and chain.
@@Femalelumberjack Hi ya. Yep she loves it. It has it's limitations but it's so handy for many jobs. I used it today for a small Cherry tree reduction in a noise sensitive area. Also extremely useful next to the chipper. I'm definitely going to buy more battery machines.
Nice review and good content. You should mention the battery +1.7kg and aswell there is a bag with cable to avoid the weight on the hand. Did you have issues with the chain ? Some mention that the drivetrain is to wide and allows they chain to hop if its getting hot and longer.
Any saw you hold becomes hot saw! Love your vids provide excellent information especially for someone like me who just getting into forestry and owning my own gear I've operated chainsaws before but at the end of the day they were always handed off to someone else for maintenance and upkeep but with the passing of my uncle I was left with about 17 professional model chainsaws which include the entire 3xp line of husky saws 357 , 362, 372, 395 , and the big one which believe is 1327 xp or something like that , it has 48 inch bar on it so I've never had a need to touch it I mainly use the 372xp jonsered 2188 and the jonsered2172 .
I’m a fan of the 150 after some mods I’ve posted with recommendations to not do what I have done on film but it’s a hell of a saw. Not for woodcutting porpoises in mind 😂😂😂. I doubt the power. Plus I try and keep it as old school as possible because I’m an American lol. Get ya a 200T sister. It’s a real good tree cuttin tool to add to the tool box. Might make your heart skip a bit at 60ft span rigging over a home with a good bit of timber on the rigging but you’ll be ok.
used an older 160 today. good but more chain speed be good, just one negative bout the electrics not sure why but seem to bind up easy were petrol saw just cut thro. but yer ive got its big bro, with bigger chain, n want one. thanx great vid
Would you recommend this kind of top handle saw for a non-expert just cutting limbs out of trees around the house or should I be looking at something like the MSA 160? I like the weight of this saw but have not used top handle saws before. Informative video!
K W I would definitely recommend this saw for non-expert users. It’s lightweight and easy to use, just remember always two hands on the saw even though it’s a top handle saw! :)
In the UK a top handle saw is only supposed to be used aloft (not on the ground) and only by people specially qualified to do so. Most suppliers would refuse to sell one to someone without the right licence.
Had one. Now use a 150 with muffler mod just more air. So much better than the 161. Chain always seemed to bind in the wood alot.just spin not cut. Ok for little stuff but for me not great. Do like stihl saws have a few but not for me. Thanks
I have this saw for about 10 months is a work horse. I see she is using the AP300S battery I have that to and the AP500s but for this saw and to go up tree I only use the AP200 still give me plenty of power and is light.
I just got mine today from a dealer, and at the time i not even pay attention but it has a 25 cm bar, now i see it's also available a 30 cm bar. Should I change for the 30cm? Thank you
I have not realy try it yet but I did buy already the 30 cm. Bar also, so next time I see what it does with both bars 25 cm and 30 cm. Here in Europe this toys are quite expensive for the 30 cm. bar alone and 3 chains I pay 83 Euros.
@@Femalelumberjack I have changed for the 30cm bar and work grate. I also have the MSA220 but in my opinion the 161T is superior attending at it"s class.
What about the lack of an on off switch? I thought that was a criticism? You didn't mention it this time? I mean, thanks for pointing it out that it doesn't have an on off switch, as I nearly bought one, but wouldn't without an on off. But you have this on your shopping list?
I have ordered one, I have the 220 witch is okay but compared with others sthil gas-powered I have this looks more like knid Chinese thing. But the biggest problem is the battery if you go into the woods you need a backup full of batteries.
Great video! Really nice saw I want one like now! But the gardener that's in me watched the hedge and the flowers every time they were on camera 😂 it's the first thing I've notice can't do anything about it sorry.
Hi there! Great video! Any chance you could measure the width of the saw? I am looking to replace my MS 192C and I have it in a chainsaw mount on the front my dirt bike, so want to make sure it will fit! With the saw sitting on the ground, width and height would be awesome! Also as a bonus, distance from the bar side of the saw, to the bar. Thanks!!!
For context this is what I have and what I want to make sure this MSA 161T fits into! www.emperorracing.com/product/universal-motorcycle-chainsaw-mount-cs-2230/
I want to see a comparation between a petrol and a electric chainsaw for home use......petrol chainsaw ms 210 c I cut about 10 ms firewood in 3 h,with a electric ?
Hey felixia.i follow you on f.b and am a huge fan of yours. Love your video's. The only thing I wanted to mention was that ,(well here in the states and around my groups) we use r.p.m's to measure a saw speed.keep up the great work!🤠
Can someone answer me of the batteries between this 161t and the 220t are the same (can share batteries) was in the store and noticed their handheld battery blower battery did not fit in their saws.
Moin (🇩🇪, North, means like hello, good day, hi, good morning, good evening,... ) It's an cool video. Nice presentation, good examples and using scenes. Very good. Stay @u and do what you love, on your way. That's the best way. Greetings 🙋♂️
I guess the electric would be great where you're working Sunday morning EARLY or Sensitive Sound neighbors / until they suddenly see you hanging up high in the trees 🤪🌅 and then have a delayed onset heart attack 😖
