@@rommix0 Indeed however, the disease robbed him of the latter half of his career. Who knows what he could have done in the 2000s, 2010s, 2020s, and beyond. We didn't get him at his best in Spin City because his body and mind were afflicted by Parkinson's. It is beyond unfair what happened to Michael J. Fox. Being rich doesn't make it any better or easier other than being able to afford the necessary treatment. Money can't buy happiness. Being a prisoner in your own body is certainly one of the worst things that can happen to a person who was so full of life and high energy. Being faced with the fact that the condition is progressively getting worse and there is no cure is heartbreaking. Indeed, actors come and go however I'm certain that Michael J. Fox would still be relevant now had he not been cut down in his prime.

As a Canadian from Vancouver, Michael J Fox was everywhere. My babysitter when I was 4 had a crush on him from Family Ties. There’s a theatre named after him in Burnaby, the hometown he shares with Michael Buble. It was such a shame when he was diagnosed. Watching Spin City towards the end was painful at times. He did so many really funny 80s movies, mostly playing a heartthrob/ladies man kind of character. It gave me hope as a fellow short guy.

@1977TA
@1977TA Год назад
Michael J. Fox's star power paired with Christopher Lloyd's is what made Back to the Future a hit. Eric Shultz was not a big star. In fact, I don't think he ever became well known as an actor. I didn't know who he was until I learned he was the first actor cast to play Marty in BTTF. With that said he's done a lot of films over the years however none of them gave him any recognition. His legacy is being the actor Michael J. Fox replaced in BTTF. You are correct that BTTF would not be the beloved classic it is had Shultz remained in the film.

People forget that Muhammad Ali also passed away from Parkinson's disease. We remember him with his tremor and whispering his words, but towards the end of his life, he virtually disappeared from public view, probably because his tremors had become too violent and uncomfortable for others to witness. I guess he and his family wanted the world to remember him in his prime, and that's very understandable. I saw MJF in an interview on CBS Sunday Morning promoting this movie/documentary, and it is very brave and informative to know how debilitating this disease is for him and his family. I wonder if any of the political commentators who accused him of faking his Parkinson's feel bad about accusing him of faking his illness.
@janchilton
@janchilton Год назад
Mohammed Ali's Parkinson's came from brain injury. He probably had some dementia along with it. My mother had it for 20 years. Those jerky movements come from the levodopa medication...they are different than the Parkinson's tremors. In the late stages, which he's pretty much in, if he didn't take the levodopa he would be frozen like stone. There's another good interview on RU-vid where he says that he has it better than most, and has had it longer -30 years! Often people die from choking, and that may be why he is saying his time is limited. That's what took my mother. If you're interested in the disease, find the older movie with Robin Williams called "Awakenings".

@@BareBandSubscription some people say they’ll be there no matter what but not everyone is actually strong enough to handle the actual tough times. Having to sacrifice your life to take care of someone else isn’t easy at all. I watched my mother mold her entire life around my handicap sister and it took a toll on her because she didn’t really have much support. But that was her child. Yes a partner is someone you pledged commitment to but some people don’t expect to have to actually deal with something of that level. Or were he and his family horrified and offered sympathy and help to the family? Even if it was handled badly, you can't mistake the character for the actor. They're not the same. And you can't go around hating someone for something he didn't do, and wishing them ill. That doesn't make *you* look good.
