I cant believe how many children went missing during hurricane katrina. 7,000!!! And only 700 adults ? I pray for all these mothers and fathers who lost there children. GOD WILL PROTECT THEM AND 🙏 ONR DAY WE WILL ALL BE BACK TOGETHER.
"May the lord keep you and protect you". I volunteered 3 days after Katrina made landfall. I will never forget how much the survivors of Katrina needed supplies and a hug. Every anniversary, I take it upon myself too light a candle, pray, and fast. So the lord will give my strength unto them. Remember folks, all of you are survivors with a capital S.
CHRISTIANNA ! Great point to compare how a far away country gets help right away, but not local people. How can we call ourselves EXCEPTIONAL in this world when we treat our own this way. I was in the Christian right cult 30 years. I was brainwashed until Katrina. What a surprise is coming for the cold-hearted someday.

The only hurricane I experienced is Hurricane Irma and it was a cat 4...It was kinda fun because we had power and food throughout the whole storm and lived in the 2nd story of an apartment. I remember waking up thinking it wasn't gonna come because these hurricanes usually take a last minute turn. However, I woke up to see a fallen tree outside and I knew things were about to get real.
What was truly concerning was that there was then no centralized emergency phone number that people could call if their local emergency service lines were down. Many people had to revert to calling the Coast Guard as the lines were down across the areas affected.
