Still Game is one of those rare tv programmes that you fall in love with, beautiful writing, great acting, flawed characters, who you end up loving.....I guarantee when you watch the last episode, you will cry buckets.
thats nuts, 45 yr old scot here never heard that word in that context ever, but also have watched this episode 100 times n never noticed/questioned why that title haha, possibly its more a west coast usage than a general scottish one ? fellow scots any input weclome...
@bradlucy I'm from Glasgow so love still game, but while we have an Irish man here have you watched the young offenders yet? And would kieron agree that you should? But if you watch it you need to start with the film first.
Brad/Lucy I love still game and enjoyed watching the series with you. A long time ago I asked you to comment on Jethro and I thank you for all your efforts. Now can I recommend you try ‘Cradle to grave’. It is hilarious and had Peter Kay as a cockney father. All the tricks he uses from working as a docker. I think you will benefit greatly as indeed would all of your viewers. Keep up the amazing work you do.
Wow! Nearly 76 pence a litre,it's around £1.43 pence a litre now. Those Skoda Felicia were pretty cheap in the day with decent reliability....drove ok,better than walking if you're on a real budget. Good on fuel & car insurance.
"Call me an arsehole, Betty!" 😂 Love how he roasts Victor for "talking to the bloody deid", and then does that. 😊 Just found out that Stevie Allen who played Manky Frankie just died not long ago. He only appeared in two episodes, but still was a great character. "Aiyah bastards!" lol ❤😔 Wonderful reaction once again you two, my spirits really need lifting atm, and you both definitely help to raise the spirit, so thank you. 👍🏻
"Call me an arsehole, Betty!" is what makes shows like Still Game next level. Scene is great without that, but that last wee bit just makes it special.
@@AayJayEmm Couldn't agree more. That one line elevates the comedy writing of that scene from very good, to genius level. I may be slightly bias, being a Glaswegian-born lass, but I truly believe Still Game to be one of the finest comedy series ever both from a writing and acting standpoint. The first 6 series in particular is top tier stuff on a par with every other true classic sitcom you could mention.
@@Sara_Kane Absolutely 100% agree. Here we are 20 years later just to watch someone experience it for this first time. The specific weegie-ness of it is what makes it brilliant, but also what holds it back from being truly global, like a Fawlty Towers.
@@AayJayEmm Yep, it's always a joy to watch others, especially those from other countries, enjoying this iconic home-grown show. It's almost like watching it anew again everytime. 😊 I can only agree on your take about it being more limited in it's global outreach due to that it's very steeped in Scottish, and even more specifically, Glaswegian culture and lingo. But that kinda makes it all the more endearing when you come across awesome people like Brad & Lucy who do totally get it, despite not fully understanding some of the slang, and local references.
Steaming comes from a prohibition on Sunday drinking back in early 1900’s, a loop hole allowed drinking on water ways so folk used to go on steam boats to get phished.
Wow, I've lived in Scotland all my life, and that's the first time I've heard the origin of how "steaming" became slang for drunk! 😯Thanx for the info! 👍🏻
Years I have watch this and I just noticed that the Waverly ship is in it, its a old paddle steamer that you can still go a trip around some of the Scottish Isles o the west cost.
I remember recommending this show to you guys a while back, and I knew you’d love it. There’s so much more to come, you are in for a real treat of proper laughs. Also, when you get finished with the 7 series’ you could also look at other videos, like the documentary of the actors talking about the show, the stage play, hilarious, and the reunion show in a show center. Im really enjoying your enjoyment of Still Game, love you guys
That fuel is per litre but this was screened 20 years ago and is now approx double that Edit it’s just came down again today so around 137.9 for diesel per litre
I love you two...the wee creepy sideboard behind you two...you should sell the wee creepy figurines...I want some...and ,aye I would buy them...love it...thanks...love the hair..x.
That was fantastic, although I'm traumatized by Brad's change into Brandi at the end! Love your reactions. You really get the show and the characters so well. Have a cool weekend.
I just found that out earlier today. Seems like he was a real life hero, as well as being a great actor. Testament to that, is how Manky Frankie is remembered with such affection, despite only featuring in two episodes. R.I.P. Stevie. 😔🖤
I didn't know what brief really meant and thought tbe same as you. They had the car briefly. But there's an episode where Winston is working at a super market. There's a moment when there's a shopping trolley heading to crash into a car and his younger colleague describes the car as a very expensive brief. I think he says rogue shopping trolley heading for a very pricy brief, something like that. I'm from Scotland, and I've never heard that before. Maybe it's a Glasgow thing.
Great scottish humour you should both check out an episode of rab c nesbitt the accent is a lot thicker but im irish and can understandit so maybe you both could too much love to everyone 💚💚💚💚💚💚💚☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️
