My 3great grandfather died at Chancellorsville in stonewall brigade, HE never got to see or hold his only child a daughter. My grandfather's Fisher mother. Very God fearing family. Praise God still are. Loved the documentary 👏
I may live in New England now, but I’m a Tidewater man, born and bred. My ancestors were Virginians by way of England and Ireland, and my family fought for the Southland. One of my direct ancestors fought in Hood’s Brigade, shot in the face at the Battle of Gaines Mill; he lived. God bless the Southland and God bless General Thomas “Stonewall” Jackson.
I have known and studied Jackson all my life. This documentary of him was very informative bringing much more to light of him. It raised much emotion in me. A man to emulate !!
Every School Aged Child should be taught about Thomas Jackson: An ORPHAN, who struggled for every thing that he had but yet he made the best of it.. to survive by working hard. Ethics to inspire every American Child. God Bless Thomas Jackson.
Thank you for this beautiful documentary, it made me cry, a true man of God and hero. So very sad they took down his statue from the VMI and changed the name of his cemetery. Lexington Va should be honoring this man. He loved as God instructed us to do ♥️
Many people don’t know that there is a memorial window to General Jackson in the traditionally black “Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church” in Roanoke, VA. The money for it was raised by a black minister whose parents were taught to read in the Sunday School that Jackson had for blacks people. Alot of the people who today are so politically correct in their views on “racism” have probably done less for black people than this man did.

I have seen this several times over, I actually bought this dvd in the earlier-ish 2000’s from Vision Forum and still have it. Our great southern leader and hero, oh how he would be disappointed in what our nation has become.
Thomas Jonathan Jackson is my favorite Civil War Hero.... His Instillment in Lord and Firm Piety helped me Build my Relationship with God..... His Religious Beliefs set a Template for me to Build my Own Religious Structure.... In a time when War Stricken the Land he led his Men to God not only into Battle... Held Firm as a Devout Christian and in his Faith.... And never took Credit for any of his Great Accomplishments He owed it all to the Will of God....He was a Very Great Man..... "Everyone that says 'Lord Lord...". The South fought to protect the institution of slavery. The North fought to preserve the United States of America. At the beginning of the war, neither side was interested in ending slavery. But God. In the Book of Joshua, when he met the Captain of the Host of the Lord, Joshua asked "are You for us or our adversaries". He answered "No, but I come as the Captain of the Lord's Host" In other words He said, I come for neither of you, I come to enforce the will of God. The question is, is your cause in alignment with the Will of God. Jesus said "not everyone who says Lord Lord will enter the Kingdom of heaven; but only the one who does the Will of my Father in heaven". The North offered a compromise which would have left slavery intact, which the South promptly refused. So the side which eventually acquiesced to the Will of God "Let my people go", won the war. But God. It doesn't matter how "great" your generals are, the Commander of God's Hosts is always greater. When God says it's time to free the slaves, they are freed. It was the pride and hubris of the South that caused such carnage on both sides. God's will was freedom for the slaves with NO COMPROMISE. Just as he hardened the heart of Pharoah in Exodus, he hardened the heart of the South against a compromised that would have allowed them to keep the slaves without bloodshed. Pride goes before a fall. I believe when the United States of America was formed as a country that enslaves people, God's WILL was for it to ultimately become the Land of the free. God's Will be done. Amen
I love history, all of it, but from 1750s to the beginning of the 20th century is the most interesting to me. The hard, deadly world these folks inhabited leaves me in awe. We now days have no reason to complain when put up next to theirs. I tip my hat---
This documentary is probably one of my favorites about the Civil war. Because it shows that even the Confederacy had good and Godly leaders who in my opinion deserve to be honored, regardless of what they say on the news. I don't care what people say, Jackson and Lee are true heroes of History.
You're WRONG! These men were trained at West Point and then turned around and used their knowledge against the United States of America. They were traitors plain and simple. God-fearing, bible-thumping traitors. They are as much heroes to history as are all other vanquished foes of America. Which is to say, not heroic in any way whatsoever. 🇺🇲
Only if the USA could have Military men like Jackson and Lee today. The strategies that these two men devised, before a battle are incomparable. In the War with Mexico and Civil War both.
I have been to the Manassas Battlefield and seen the statue of Jackson on the horse and the famous quote. I have seen the headstone of where Jackson's left arm is buried and Robert E Lee's famous quote. Thank you for sharing Jackson's life. I really appreciate it 😊. He was truly a great man.
He has always been my hero. I named one of my sons after him - Thomas Jackson. He is now a physician in the Army. The best book I've read about Stonewall is "Mighty Stonewall," by Frank Vandiver.
This is the most exceptional video of the Civil War that I have ever watched. It's Beautiful! Only one thing, tho, I believe was missing is that after the Battle of First Manassas and how it angered Thomas Jackson when he realized that some of the deceased Soldiers, on the battle field, were that of his Young students at VMI. Is Thomas Jacksons' museum still at VMI? It's been a few years since I have been able to visit there. Thomas Jackson was pre ordained by God for his destiny. Amen? American Hero!
How a man who understood the pain of being taken from his Mother’s Arms still fought against the Union is evidence of how divisive the Civil War truly was. Tears for the depravity of our species.
I don’t believe he fought “against the Union”. He was fighting for his home state of Virginia. You need to look at it in the context of the time. The idea was that our country was started as a union of very strong individual states. “States rights”. As I’m writing this I have not yet finished watching the entire doc. so I don’t know if it mentions the fact that Jackson broke the law and had a school to teach black people to read. There is actually a black church dedicated to Jackson that was started by someone whose ancestor was one of the people that Jackson helped. Many Confederates were not fighting “for slavery”. They were fighting for the rights of their individual home states to be able to govern themselves.
Born a Virginian, of Georgian & tarheel parentage. Surname relatives came into crown chartered Maryland colony, migrated South as time passed. Always felt connected to the 2nd war of independence. We lived just a days march from Bull Run...Stonewall was one of my many confederate heros .... In depth study revealed how euro banks intrigue helped to fuel the great war & how Yankee debt to euro banking could not allow the south to exercise their constitutional right of separation from the union...Sadly, people have no idea of the evilness of the world...still cling to the false claim the war was fought over slavery even though Abe himself said, " if I could save the union without freeing one slave I would..." 1862. All wars are fought over taxes or finance...one of the souths biggest complaints was heavy federal taxes with little benefit. Taxation with little recompense. Sound familiar?😢
That's a pretty fair assessment of Roman catholicism. It has some mesmerizing aspects but it definitely does not adhere to some very important Bible doctrines. Roman catholicism is its own god, unfortunately
44:36 "Sabbath morning"?.. You mean Saturday morning then?.. Because Sunday is not the Sabbath, it never was, and never will be... The Catholics pretended they had the authority to move the Sabbath, which was and is, from sun-down Friday to sun-down Saturday - to Sunday. They had no authority to do that, even if they weren't a fake church, with a fake gospel; which they are.
The intro is dreadfully long. The remainder of the documentary is repetitive, redundant and drags on too long. It's a shame to me - many of us want history, not soap opera.
Stonewall Jackson was a Southern Baptist, staunch Christian, slave owner, and military man who believed in tradition, family, and faith. He was also pro-States Rights & he regarded the war as a “crusade against the Philistines of the Union”. In 1843 the Southern Baptist Church was created specifically to promote slavery. Are you saying that Southern Baptist of the 1800s were leftists? Are you saying that those are leftist ideals? I’ve never heard Leftists described that way.
His wife's servants; they wanted them to keep them as servants. They loved them. Read this man's book on Tom.Jackson. Oh, and he taught Sunday School classes for Blacks, teaching them to read though it was against the law...the state's law not GOD's.
You don't understand slavery. It's not black and white. People never bring up the Africans who by the way, still sell black people into slavery today to the middle east. All slaves from Africa, sold by Africans. Some were pleased to be alive and being fed and not all were treated badly. You can't think one way on this issue. Many Africans sold into slavery, had it better than back home. There's a lot to it that people don't consider. Also, have you ever spoken up for white slaves before? Not attacking you but just something to think about. Then who is making it a race issue. Because there's many other slaves in history that people don't consider.

Gods law to this man was to empower both slave and free blacks by teaching them the word of god. This isn’t Northern general Sherman who was racist, this isn’t confederate general Nathan Bedford Forrest who had deep connections to the KKK. I think you should stop judging by the group, and take men one at a time and do some research. Really, educate yourself. If you really for one second think this man was fighting to preserve slavery, and that every northerner was fighting to abolish it then you are very misinformed and that’s ok. Black churches that are still alive in America today are because of this man. He would never take credit for that, but yet they still give it to him. The all southerners fighting to preserve slavery narrative is ludicrous. Many sure, but those who kick that narrative have never done extensive research on men like Jackson or Longstreet
