Disagree on only one point... he had the look AND charisma of the Ultimate Warrior. I can't tell you how my 7 year old blood got pumping when he'd hit the stage and just start HAULING ASS to the ring... beating on his chest, shouting, the bright colors and face paint... that was a 90's era Ultimate Warrior if I ever saw one.
Who TF is Brian Zane? 😂 (Legitimate question) I started watching wrestling (WCW) full time in 1995. This was the best time in wrestling. Sting with shorter darker hair and him and Luger tagging. Hogan and Savage battling the Horsemen and Dungeon Of Doom. People trash that era but I loved that era as a kid.
@@mattcasdorph He's a youtuber, hosts a channel called Wrestling With Wregret that does PPV reviews, lists of best and worst things, and other stuff. He's also a former wrestler and also does some work on the indies as a manager and as a commentator. A while back he did a list of some songs he considered the worst and included this song among them.
Ric Flair is the man, but Sting is one of the few that never worked in any other company while WCW/NWA was around...(once he joined ofc). He was there for some 15 years straight...I think only the latest person with that kind of loyalty is Cena (tho Taker and HBK come to mind as well...tho Taker was in WCW for a spell back in the 80s)
Vinnie Mac: So Sting, what makes you believe that you'd be a worthy asset to a company such as ours? Sting: I do this, and I also do that. Vinnie: Welcome to the WWE, sir.
have a happy retirement you fuckin icon! ...i think this will be forever stuck in my mind as i was born in 98 but i gotta thank wreslting bios for introduceing me to WCW and sting! and also AEW and his 2020-2024 run seriously AEW gave sting the respect the icon deserved from WWE..went in as a legand came out still a legand leaveing a legacy behind one hell of a tag partner too along with going out as a tag champ! which funfact was one of the first time ever won back in 1985! started with tag belts ended with em was also very fitting!
This theme, though seemingly cheesy when listened to here out of context, actually worked AMAZINGLY for Sting's late 90's / early Nitro run. The song sounded great on the loud speakers and the energy of the track really matched Sting's colorful & heroic persona. As a 90's kid watching, I was literally jumping up and down on Monday nights.
Exactly, this is fantastic entrance music for a high-energy babyface like Sting. It kicks in strong right from the start, with a distinct riff the audience will immediately recognize and cheer to. Even if you hadn't seen Sting before, the explosive start of his music told you that this was someone important. It even tells you his name and what his character is like!
"Hey I've never seen that guy before, what does he do?" "Well you know, he does this and he does that." "Okay but what does he do?" "Uh hello, I said he does this and he does that. Do I need to draw you a picture?"
+Headbanger142 Honestly, have you ever watched him in the late-'80s? He is terrifyingly John Cena. It's a good thing he wears facepaint or else I'd need glasses to tell the difference. :P
Congrats to the Man Called Sting on making it to the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2016. The Icon truly deserves it. One of the best careers in the history of this business, 30 years strong.
The Rock was the name of the Dingo Warrior, his tag-team partner from the BladeRunners. You know, before he became the Ultimate Warrior over at the WWE.

I always get this damn song stuck in my head for no reason hahahaha I had to play it just now and I didn't really think about how HEAVY this song really is HAHAHAHAHA
Wrestling with regret called this one of the worst themes. I DISAGREE. THIS IS AWESOME. Any time this music hits on old wcw on the network i get fired up for the MAN CALLED STING!!!
Me too. It falls under the so cheesy it's good category for me! It definately gets me pumped up to be a Little Stinger and act like a child and root for the HERO, a man called STING!
this song reminds me of the tv commercial when sting was feuding with flair for control of wcw or the presidency or something and sting had this tv commercial of him in the ring with a voice saying "Step Into My Office" and had like 3-4 people getting tossed about/out of the ring/defeated all at once if i recall the era when La Parka the Chair Man of WCW and STING and flair were feuding was amazing and as a kid i just loved how somehow there was pretty much ALWAYS a huge cartoon sized/oversized STOP sign under the ring just about all the time back then. it so fit with the cartoons at the time of wild e coyote not falling despite being over a cliff/gorge until after they stopped and looked down.
I listen to the whole wCw album while eating fudge rounds. When "Simply Ravishing" and Ron Simmons theme come on, I usually start doing 12oz beer curls
When people think of Sting, they think of the crow gimmick. But THIS is the Sting that became a legend. Remember his epic title match against Ric Flair at the great american bash?
I remember back on Bill Watts' UWF formerly Mid South wrestling. The Late Eddie Gilbert introduced him "From Every Mans Nightmare, Sting". Fond memories of wrestling in the 80s. That's when Sting was a heel.
