@@miketwotwenty I feel like Richmond would be redundant with Iowa in place. The shapes and banking are too similar, and if anything, I think Richmond is now a bit too small, given that the cars are faster than when ICS/IRL last ran there. You're not going to get the old style of Texas racing since they reconfigured Turns 1 & 2. Also, I really only want 1 intermediate oval, if I'm honest, and we presently have Nashville, though I'm wondering how the concrete surface will go with the present generation of car. Indy Cars haven't run at Kansas since they reconfigured the banking. It was 15 degrees back then, but is now 17-20 in the corners. It's not to the same extreme, but it does kind of remind of the changes made to Las Vegas Motor Speedway, and I'm fine if IndyCar never returns there.

@@Villoresi Richmond is not high banked compared to Iowa, Richmond is flatter, but to be honest Indycar needs a few more ovals!

100 % agree with your assessment of current conditions in open wheel racing (plus those cars with fenders and roofs). Like you I have watched motor sports since I was 10 years old ( now 70 yrs ) and I thank God that I got to see racing when the cars actually looked different with bodies and wings and engines of different types. With the combination of computers and engineers today I am beginning to think there is no hope of seeing the racing we used to see with passing being available and side by side without running the outside car off the outside of the corner on road courses or the wall on ovals. I get so sick of hearing about clean air / dirty air on the wings causing understeer or aero blocking . Maybe take the wings off and run like go - karts or like the days of the 1960's (no wings ) but with better fuel cells ?

NASCAR apparently doesn't like Indycar, thinks they are competition. When they see bad racing at these tracks, they want to fix them for NASCAR. Because of this, it eliminates varieties of lines to run

How did Nascar ruin Iowa?

Short tracks like Iows equal short track speeds. Same goes for superspeedways like Pocono. Quit overexagerating.

robert wickens had a head injury because there was no windscreen back then. his head made contact with the fence upright. there will be no more robert wickens type injuries anymore with the windscreen

That's not set in stone. NASCAR had a good weekend, and since the track is owned by NASCAR there are no guarantees the track gets a full repave.

Rossi slow, but once again Stingray ran out of talent, recognizing too late Rossi was slow. Suprised with all Stingrays incidents he’s still in a car. He’s not an INDYCAR level driver.

​@gagemcpherson1956 Yes, Texas was amazing in 2023. They were getting the package and track figured our, only for it to be gone from the schedule. That is a glaring omission in the calendar.

New chassis from the ground up, to incorporate all that safety and tech, and maybe find ways to keep it light too. The challenge that engineers love!!

Why do you think it was repaved for Nascar? They handle bumpy worn out surfaces WAAAAY better then Indycar...it was just time to repave. Which sucks.

CART Champcar changed to superspeedway wings on short ovals in 1999 or so. It made the racing even worse. Racing at short ovals was great until the mid 90s. I don't remember what went wrong afterwards. The hybrids are a step back so far. Too little impact but worse racing because of heavier cars. If Honda is leaving anyway I really don't see the point.

@@oldred9122 Sounded like it was a sell out for Cup. I don’t think INDYCAR has ever sold it out even with the music acts. Concerning. When does Hy-Vee dump INDYCAR and go the NASCAR route? Hopefully the ties are strong between Hyvee and INDYCAR .

Iowa was the best short track race on the schedule this year and being that they own the track it will be on the schedule next year as it was a sellout this year. However the entire track needs repaved. Goodyear brought worthless hard tires to the track this weekend which made the racing pathetic. A pit stop was the only good action of the race and only had a couple. The first half of the season was good but with the extra weight of the hybrid the racing seems to be changing and not in a good way.

NASCAR screwed up Richmond in 2007 when they added the SAFER barrier on the backstretch

​@walkerking3875 and Richmond hasn't put on a good race in years yet they hype the track up like it's one of the best, even with the old cars that actually raced good on short tracks and road courses they couldn't put on a good race there...Dover had this issue as well...aero wash making passing impossible, 2021 Cup race at Dover had the least on track passes for position of all races even less than 550 package races! 2019 Dover fall race had nearly twice the passes and it too suffered from the dreaded aero wash and it was with the high downforce package.

Yes, and definitely not for the better. Begs the question of why did they bother doing testing. Could they not see that the tires lasted too long.? A real head scratcher
