2FM in the 90's, 10 to midnight slot would play this alot..and the den had it on the birthday roller..havent heard this version in literally 15 years or so..thanks!
I once searched for this song for nearly 10 years because I couldn't remember what it was called or who it's by, only a few lines from Pato's rap! It's hard to find even on lyric sites because it's a special edition version, even though I could swear I used to hear it on the radio all the time. I think I eventually rediscovered it by chance, looking for all Sting songs!
Nice one dude I was looking for it on you tube a few weeks back, Got this on tape from a carboot about 10 years ago. Can't remember it coming out but what a classic. I can't believe this wasn't a chart topper
Sting originally wrote this song in late 1993, with the intention of giving it to Jimmy Nail for Nail's tie-in album for his then-as-yet-unaired TV series "Crocodile Shoes", but Jimmy Nail could not complete his recording of the song in time for it to be included on the final album because Sting (who had agreed to produce and contribute to the proposed Jimmy Nail version) was unavailable for the intended studio dates; consequently, Jimmy Nail's version was abandoned altogether... Sting then recorded his own version, which he included on his 1994 "best of" album 'Fields Of Gold'... The song finally reached the UK Singles Chart in early 1995 via this all-new reworking with Pato Banton that became a Top 20 hit that year...
Thank you very much for uploading this :) Although you could have written the title and names of the artists a bit more intelligibly (capital letters, spaces, etc.) :P
