09:38 ha, making things american-proof. Probably in airline industry they forgot to do it once and paid the price. I don't know why they do things even if those are counter-productive.

Not counting the semi-scale ones and low temperature ones in my collection which I'll do a separate video on :)

One would think you like Stirling engines ? I have one amongst the steam toys

Welcome fellow Kiwi! Yeah I do like the Stirling engine for its simplicity like a steam engine, and its many configurations. I doubt I will buy and more though

I was always fascinated by the silent blue one. You gotta love Japan, masters of their craft From what i heard, heating the cylinder from the front, instead of the side, is more efficient

Yeah hard to beat that one for a model Stirling engine :)

Your fish is sad. Get it a bigger tank with decorations or Dobby will arise from the grave and suck you toes in the middle of the night. Fix yourself bbg.

Our fish was very sad. The children of the house were traumatised looking at its explodey cancerous growths and opaque eyes this last year our once perky Goldie (named after the famous NZ painter, of course) looked ...just over it. It has been a great 12-13 years and Goldie and her pump and stuff were all worn out. After a family meeting, Goldie was decanted into a sunbeam. She didn't complain, just drifted off surrounded by 3 curious cats. Thank you Goldie and for your caring comment.

I live off grid, and I'm trying to figure out a way to generate electricity from my woodstove. I've seen a lot of little phone charging stirling setups, and I'm wondering what do you think would be the potential for getting multiple stirlings and hooking the dynamos up in series to make 12v, and also what the best model for that would be?
@ThomasPCGuruENGINES
@ThomasPCGuruENGINES Год назад
Stirling engines are weak for their size; you would only be able to generate low to medium power. Older large engines are costly partly due to their relative novelty. Newer, better engines become expensive fast. So used hardware store generators, solar, wind or water power are all more practical...

To my eyes, the Kontax Rhombic drive engine is the most interesting. But i really prefer the flame licker engines, because in addition to the movement, they offer a great sound.

That is quite a large goldfish!
@ThomasPCGuruENGINES
@ThomasPCGuruENGINES Год назад
She's massive: My 13-year old calls her our blind, deaf and tumorous goldfish; "Goldie" named after a famous New Zealand artist, obviously. We are in low-level talks about saving the water...and dumping the fish: putting her out of her misery. Then... we come into the kitchen in the morning and she does three laps of the tank in three seconds like some mad orange speed-boat, sending spray over the hungry cats and me. Wet pussy everywhere and then the nonagenarian fish does a lazy victory lap on her back with a cheesy grin from ear to ear while humming "Islands in the Stream" by Dolly Parton. You don't just kill a fish like that all at once, if at all then maybe just one fillet at a time. Meanwhile, Goldie Lives Another day (wasn't that a James Bond film?).
