I love this episode, I was personally involved in this window business. They where ordered 4 times with different spec’s. We could easily have delivered them before we closed for the holidays. So who didn’t ordered them correctly is a big question. ???
an intensly un-ecological building. Source local, build local, use locals I've lived all over the world for the past 20 years too, and what I've learnt is that when you come to rest, do everything as local as possible.
Looks like there money spent on education geography was wasted. The order from America AND Canada. Canada is one of the countries in Amerika. The U.S.A aren't country but a uniting of States. When in Europe they order form Holland whilst Holland is only a small part of the Netherlands. As is Scotland only a par of Great Britain. Even Kevin gets this mixed up.
The USA is indeed a country (a nation, indivisible), not a "uniting of states". That question was answered with finality when the civil war ended in 1865. Canada, the USA, and many other nations form the "Americas" (north, central & south America) Most english-speaking people people refer to the USA as "America". The European details I will not comment on, as I am not as well-versed in that area. Perhaps @videofan1001 should have exercised similar restraint.
The golden cedar shakes above and blue render below wonderfully reflect and reverse the background landscape of sky above and woods below. How great it must be to know exactly what you want and to thoroughly achieve it!
learnt a lesson from this episode, that one should have a bit more confidence in LOCAL market than always complicating things by having high expectation from others.
For people saying they want to be sustainable they certainly added to their carbon footprint jet settings and using materials from all around the world…
Why does the host keep trying to create a controversy between the basement and the upper story contractors? He's constantly trying to stir it up even before there is a problem.
'Tao's from Holland, where almost everyone builds their own home.' How can that be? What do they do with the homes where the owners have died? Or just moved - into a house they just built, presumably. Sell them to foreigners?
This is bullshit. The amount of people building their own unique home is small. What he is doing would not be possible in the Netherlands. We have strict aesthetic and constructial rules which makes it impossible to built a "unique" home, let alone design it without an architect who is familiar with all the local building rules.
I simply don't understand the complications people make when building. Boggling.BOGGLING. And blue while my favorite color DOES NOT go wiry tan, wood shingles. OH and a red ceiling on that balcony.. none
