Maybe try flipping the cam (the little black thing) over, so it rides the smoother side to raise the wings, then drops after, so the gears don't have to push against that sharp curve to raise them?
I was yelling at the screen, "flip the cam, its stalling at the sharp rise", lol Thats also the cause of the internal ring gear movement, the stall is causing it to torque out of position. Id remove the spring an weigh it down with brass.
Hey Roy, I saw someone build this recently, and his wasn’t motorized. Maybe that’s why you had to wait so long. May want to check the tension on the screws. Thanks for sharing. Happy days and model on! 😎🇨🇦
Hi Peter! Yeah, I was shocked to see it was motorized. I thought it was hand cranked powered. I've tried messing with all the screws and it helped it a little bit as it used to get stuck a lot more but it still catches now and then. I really think it's that spring. It should be a looser spring so that the little black thing doesn't have to push up on it so hard which I think is what's causing it to jam. I'll have to see if I can find a spring with less tension.
I agree the spring has too much pressure on the cam (black thing) do you even need the spring ? seems gravity should do the work for you; every time it hangs up is at the apex of the Hight of the cam & the most crush on the spring. also as suggested, try turning the cam around for a smoother lift (maybe).
Try taking the black piece off and see if with no resistance on the spring if it works ok? That would rule out the black piece or confirm the spring tension is too much.
Great video. I want to get one of these kits! Looks like your problem is caused by the little black cam. Either turn it around or smooth out the sharp corner to fix it?
