Yes - there will definitely be intermediate and advanced videos in the future. I wanted to start off with beginner stuff because I didn't want to scare the beginners away! But keep watching! I have enough material brainstormed for the next year and a half already!
Thank you so much you are a beading guru ! I finally get square stitch. I love that you take your time and slowly show where your thread paths are going. Keep doing your videos and I'll keep watch and learning. you're a great teacher. Thanks. :-)
Thank you for this video :) I've mastered the basic stitch and decreasing but I still need to work on increasing! I find brick stitch so much easier, which is why a lot of the tutorials on my channel are brick stitch! Keep up the good work x
Thank you Jill! This helped me so much. I've only made simple peyote stitch dangly earrings before. I've really wanted to make bracelets. This is a great video that helped me learn how. Everything is presented in a simple, clear and extremely followable way. I'm able to make beautiful beadwork right out of the gate.
Thx 😊for explaining so clearly and concise. Great video close-up. Good job. A lot of turorials seem to be over explained and too much talking..... Just the facts! Thanks so much for your dedication and sharing of your artistic God given beading talent. 😉 Many Blessings. ❤️
Jill you are simply wonderful. As someone who needs visual, tactile and auditory instructions your programs are through and well narrated! I also appreciate the filming as you can easily see the steps involved. Thank you so much!
Hi Jill: I loved beading when I was younger having lived in the Great White North (Ontario, Canada). That's where I saw a lot of it and even had a few pieces. I guess it stayed with me because this Christmas left me with wanting to decorate bulbs, and I "winged" my 1st beaded ornament. I'M HOOKED. I love your tutorials, they are clear, concise and you do beautiful work. An inspiration. Subscribed and Liked, Marge
I’ve been a beginner bead for years ,I’ve never been able to do weaving until this video. I’ve watched tens of identical tutorials that simply don’t have the amount of information that you’ve included. You’ve changed my life , and that is not an exaggeration. 💐💐💐
Just started getting into beading this year. It is a good way to pass time in 2020. I have been looking for a tutorial for what seems like forever and this one is by far the best and easiest to follow. Thank you for this video😊
I cant seem to find it, if you already made a video, but if not, would you mind doing a video for a flat round square stitch pattern please? I believe there is a bit of "math" involved, yuck Lol, but I think you'd probably explain it a lot better than some of the other videos I have come across. (And have a much better studio set up, so we can actually see the beads and what the tutor is showing!) Thank you!
Omg Jill, that's amazing don't even need to do any more tight on the bracelet. Thank you for sharing your videos, I'm glad I'm following you, and thank you for showing us a easy way to keep the stopper from being on the bottom. I love the new way. Thank you and blessed to you ✨😍✨
Hi Jill I wanted to thank you for this video. I have severe dyslexia and I watched several videos on how to do this stitch for two rows for my new endless loom. Last night I was almost in tears because I was so confused. Videos from very respectable bead Connoisseurs, I couldn't even grasp the concept !! When I decided not to give up and try one more time, I found your video. I was like, oh ok !! I got it right away and just finished my rows and I'm ready to loom !! You helped me Tremendously. Thank you.
At present square stitch is the main bead weaving technique that I use for my bead woven ‘wall art’ panels. I end a thread and start a new thread in pretty much the same way you demonstrated, but for extra security I also apply a few half-hitch knots. These knots are attached to the thread passing through the beads (not the bridge threads) and in this way each knot is gently tugged into the bead.
I want to thank you. This is the first stitch and video that I could catch on to. I used to weave years ago and I seem to have forgotten everything. Keep up the good work.
You are amazing . Your instructions are so clearly delivered. Thank you, One question: what is the bead you are using in this video? I love the color and would like to purchase enough to make a bracelet.
Question: Will the piece come apart if you don't knot off the ends? I struggle with this, because some tutorials suggest knotting off and some weave through and cut.
I tried this with a stretchy thread. It was looking so good but threading so many times through the same Bead wore down the stretch as it got tighter. Then it snapped halfway.
hi jill i don,t no if get this, i am deaf person just watching i learn how do this ,it very hard for me learn things ,i watch your video four time, and now i no how to do this thank you so much sending hugs
Is this a good stitch to create a bracelet that looks like one made on a loom? But like without the loom. Or is there another stitch that would be better?
Regular sewing thread will break, I like to use Nymo beading thread or some fire line beading thread. Sometimes you need to wax your thread with beeswax too. Hope this helps😊
This reminds me of bead looming but I don't know which would be the easiest. I like the hands on sort of beading where I am adding one or more beads and that is what the square stitch does. I am new to beading so I hope this will help me to find something I can do before I throw up my hands and give up on beading. Thanks this was a very good video.
Dealing with all the weft threads, and usually having to glue my piece to a backing to secure it, made me make the switch from loom work to square stitch. Just my opinion, of course. ;)
I am a brand new beader. What the heck kind of beads do u use? Nothing is working. I have tried 3 different types, they just get tangled & never sit right. P!ease give us basic info. I'm just frustrated.
Can you go on to show how you would then make the bracelet for this like attaching clasp/jump rings etc please please please and thank you. Love your videos, very thorough and I understand your way of teaching. I am a very visual learner so i need to see it being done and then I do it while you're doing it and that's how I learn.
This was one of the first stitches I learned. I prefer it over many. I love craw and other craw variations. Kate McKinnon got me into herringbone and I love it now. But if you have good tension, you don’t need to go back through each row. I do it for the first few and then every 5-10 rows after. The only drawback is you have to really work to embellish the edge, but it always gives you a super straight edge, especially if using Japanese beads.
Day2 on beading.. and my 8 yr old girl and I are addicted to bonding over them. Thanks, for equipping me enough for us to try something new!!! Loved this!!!
This might be dumb, but why would someone use this instead of peyote stitch? It seems like this would take longer to me but the result is basically the same?
The orientation of the beads is very different. In peyote, the beads are a half-step off from each other on each row. In square stitch, the beads sit in straight rows. You can make different patterns with each.
I messed up and put dislike i mm new at this but have watched a few videos and never got any stitch until I watch you! You are the best teacher. Your voice ,appearance ,friendly and patience comes across thanks for being you! Teri
Thank you so much Jill your a great tutor.I have learned to make so many things .I am a new beader.I have seen other tutorials and they are not good at explaining they're fingers are covering what there showing you to make or it dark and blurry.
Hi Jill do you have a video on a square stitch bracelet from start to finish, only I'm having trouble with finishing of and what clasp to use. It will be for my granddaughter and this type of beading feels stronger. Tried looming and the clasp pulled away.
Hi Jill...love your videos and Your witty way of teaching ❤️ I have a question about Square Stitch At the end of the rows...I watch you reinforce the newly made row and the row below by threading a pass through My question is....do we do this reinforcement throughout the entire project every time a row is complete? I’ve watched a few Square Stitch tutorials and most instructors do not reinforce at the end of every row...or even with the beginning rows I’ve tried both ways and find that the work is very tight if I pass through each row every time Maybe I’ve misunderstood as the tutorial only shows a couple rows of work Many thanks!
Hi Jill, I'm a first timer to this kind of beading but you made it look so easily that I will give this a try & keep this tutorial to look back on when I start......thanks, your voice is sweet and you speech clearly.
I am very new to beading, but not a complete novice. Loved this video because of your simple straight forward tutorial. Will look for more of your videos definitely.
hello Jill...I love your tutorials...they are so easy to understand ...just want to ask you...what type and size seed beads you are using for the tutorial?...Thank you
Your tutorials are great. I'm a jewelry maker and metalsmith and seed bead stitches mystify me. I'm going to watch this again when I make some earrings step by step. Thank you.
