man I just heard this for the first time in Hawaii. My family and I found a cool bridge to jump off while searching for beaches, It was packed with locals and after watching for a bit we politely asked if we can jump off the bridge with them and they said yes. They even let us use their ladder to climb back up, they kept engaging with us and taught us how to do the manu (a unique way of jumping into the water). It meant a lot as well considering you hear stories of locals not being to fond of those from California or tourists in general who come and disrespect their land. After a while we noticed they were listening to a lot of classic rap/r&b that we are familiar with, and at some point this song came on and I was instantly drawn to it. I’ve always loved the island and resonated with the lifestyle even though I’m not from there. There’s just something so beautiful about simply enjoying natures gifts and finding joy for hours just jumping off a bridge. The culture there is incredible and I knew coming home I would find myself searching for this song. I wish I pulled out my phone and recorded and maybe even took photos with them, I was just so invested in the moment. My cousin and I couldn’t stop talking about the rest of the trip. Hahah thank you guys for the hospitality.
