This out and in walk from Inverlochlarig takes in the two Munros Stob Binnein and Ben More. A bit of clag to start but the weather soon turned into bright sun spells.
Great to see that route - wonderful hills and it’s pleasing when the day settles like that and gives you a great view on the descent. Thanks again. Best wishes Murdo
Hi Murdo, A nice group of hills in this area that are always a joy to get around. We were starting to have doubts about the weather but it eventually got there as forecast 👍 Cheers
Hi jeg569, A wee bit extra legwork was the plan with this route which worked in our favour as the weather finally got its act together 👍 Many thanks for taking the time to view. Cheers
It is interesting to see these hills climbed from the south. Years ago, with pals, I did them from the Crianlarich road. As you know Ben More is a steep straight up from the road. As I remember it we retraced our steps back to the col and then headed west to Cruach Ardrain, and thence north back to Benmore farm.
Hello, Going up to the col from the farm was the conventional route for many years but it now appears the majority prefer to head straight up Ben More instead. Either way they are a super pair that offer some stunning views. Cheers
Well done Charlie & Mike, some lovely shots there Charlie, liked the one of Mike on the trig at Ben More, glad the conditions improved as the day went on. I’ve done them from both directions Charlie and defo prefer the way you done them.👍 ATB Frank
Great video, and thank you. Been looking at this route. Intending on doing a wild camp on the way up there, viewing along the lochs. Do the peaks and back to the tent👌 back down the morning after👌
Another fine video. Given that your route is not the usual ascent, I was surprised to see a fair to good path all the way to Stob Binnnein. Good to see that the weather improved for you.
Thanks, Charlie, for reminding me of a place I have not been to for several decades though it is a common sight from many angles. Standing on the trig point made a bonny silhouette.
Hi Geoffrey, It's always a pair you recognise from distance and they both are stunning viewpoints. Really glad things cleared for a good look around. Cheers
I was over on An Caisteal & Beinn a'Chroin yesterday, it wasnt looking promising for views early on but like you got the break in the end. Was nice to feel the sun on my back for a change. Hills were minging from the recent rainfall. I did Stob Binnein last year from the Inverlochlarig side and glad I did over a steep pull up from Ben More glen - that would have been a real grunt.
@@Sean_1919 hope you get a good day for it, the views are incredible. Make sure your footwear is waterproof and wear gaiters if you have them, the climb up to the first hill is really boggy and the walk out from Beinn a Chroin along the bottom of the Glen is more of the same for about 2-3 miles. There’s a bit of exposure and scrambling up to Beinn a Chroin but nothing too bad. Enjoy!
Superb Charlie, ive done Stob Binnein via that route and its definitely a great day to do it as its a lovely ridge walk once youve done the hard bit at the start - its a fair pull up from the car park although i dont remember going through that gate at the start but remember going over a stile a few hundred metres up so not sure if u's took a more direct route to the ridge.
Delighted to see the clag cleared and you got some views. Busy hills and perhaps the reason why you didn't leave the packs behind in the beallach, that and the 'short' walk in/out. Thanks for uploading, Charlie. 🏴🏔👍
Hi nickname, We've never experienced any issues with leaving the packs but on this occasion we were after a bit more legwork as the walk is relatively short. I suppose it's something that should be considered nowadays? Cheers
Hey Charlie. Brilliant video as always. Our boys are aged 6 and 8. They are on 47 munros (many more hills) and want to do these two. What route would you recommend for them? Ps they are your biggest fans. Watch the last video and you can see they were talking about Liathach video
Hello, Many thanks, really glad you all enjoy our outings. A good route for these two are from the A85 and head up Benmore Glen. A good track from the farm heads south alongside Benmore Burn where a path eventually leads up to the col between the tops. You can pick off both tops from there and return by the same route. Take care. Cheers
Hi Charlie, is that the Changabang jacket you are wearing? Been looking at that or similar but can't decide whether to commit or not, obviously a big investment.
@@charliemccartney7055it looks very smart and will no doubt be able to handle anything the Scottish weather can throw at it from what I've heard. I think a trip to an outdoors shop might be in order this weekend. Thanks for the advice.
@@charliemccartney7055 the first 20 mins on Ben More summit was miserable but cleared before before we left. The views were worth the wait on both tops
