One thing to note, even if you're not shipping Robotnik and Stone, it is still worth noting that Stone views everyone as inferior humans EXCEPT Robotnik, someone who is he willing to do anything from. The fact that, when Robotnik is missing, he didn't took his place, but misses him greatly despite the comic revealing that he basically inherited his will, says a lot about his respect.

something I’m surprised I haven’t seen anyone else mention yet is that in their very first scene in the first movie when they’re meeting major bennington, stone reacts to him interrupting robotnik. right after the ‘look, pal’ part of bennington’s line, stone looks to me like he winces like ‘oh you’ve just fucked up, this is gonna be fun to watch’, I noticed it on my second or third watch, and it’s taken me out every single time and it needs more appreciation. to be honest, I just think stone’s reactions need more love in general, watching his responses to stuff going on around him has become one of my favourite things to do during these films, from the ‘wiggle your digits’ reaction to the display bagel, he has some absolutely killer reactions and they are guaranteed to get a laugh every damn time I see them

Many would think Stone and Robotnik's relationship as toxic but I do not see it that way given the Movie Robotnik's life has been a harsh one and the fact that even when he was banished the only person on his mind was Stone (He literally made him a rock which is low-key admitting that Agent Stone is his "Rock" in his life). And when he did come back outside trying to get Sonic the other thing he does is literally go to find stone because he is Robotnik's stable pillar needed to keep himself focused. Plus he may act like he sees Stone below him but if he saw him as such a burden there would been no way in hell he would come back. Even though I dont care for shipping but Stone is Robotnik's only friend and Stone makes him know that as a fact.
