Thank you very much for the video, it's great! Feedback: 1) I love the second sheet in the template that you have, which lets the user input each transaction/action into a simple sequence. This feature is very helpful and is one part of what I was looking for. 2) I am an investor myself for the past four years, and one feature I see missing in the template is "how did my portfolio perform from Jan 1 2020 until Dec 31 2020(or any date range)". So, if there is a way you can incorporate the functionality that can answer the question I mentioned, that would be an excellent addition to the excel spreadsheet. If your spreadsheet can answer the question that I mentioned, then I will be able to understand my portfolio's performance better. 3) Right now, the Excel template is designed to answer this question : "What is my portfolio's value right now, vs the book cost of my portfolio". This is good, but if I want to ask the question "What was my portfolio's value in Jan 1 2020, as compared to my portfolio's value in Dec 31 2020", I cannot use the Excel template. Thank you. If there are any questions, feel free to ask. Eagerly awaiting for the next revision of this template!

That is really nice. I like it. Just a few comments to improve: Add USD/CAD Stocks, so you can buy in two markets and calculate the values. DRIP would be great to have a Dividends value per stock and how many stocks do you need to get a DRIP, so, for example, maybe you need to get 100 stocks of Coca Cola to qualify for a free Stock using DRIP.

Hi Dinesh, thanks for the great video. I see that there are already a few comments about tracking multiple currencies. How would you recommend tracking these? I have stocks in NZD, AUD, and USD. This makes tracking these all in one portfolio challenging as the 'Price' is displayed in the home currency. Cheers

Thank you for showing interest in our template. Currently, the 30 days moving average can only be retrieved from the data with more than 30 days stock history retrieved using STOCKHISTORY function. Hence the same cannot be added to each line item and we have the same as different template. Great template for stock portfolio however there's one thing I feel should not be on the dashboard sheet; closed positions. Once a stock is sold there should be a separate sheet for closed transactions. In other words, I would prefer to only see my current "open" positions on the dashboard and the "Total Gain/Loss" should represent only my current "open" positions. May I also suggest that a third sheet for closed transactions have "Total Gain/Loss" for all the closed transaction with breakdowns for month, quarter, and YTD in addition to the total gain/loss for all closed transactions. Then you could have the total gain/loss for all closed transactions combined with the total gain/loss of open positions for a "Total Portfolio Value" EDIT: I read in the comments you are working on a premium version of the Stock Portfolio Tracker and just wanted to mention I would gladly pay for it if it has additional sheet(s) to hold the closed positions, as I suggested above. I'm pretty sure the reason it doesn't have this feature is due to the complexity of the "Running Cash Balance" column on the Portfolio Dashboard. But with your extensive knowledge of Excel I hope you can find a way to make it work because closed transactions should really not be on the "PORTFOLIO" dashboard if the stock is no longer in the portfolio.

Hi sir it's good but we need to improve this is my suggestion. Like 1) portfolio it can be seen trader flat foam also , I am expecting their charges also should be add then only will be tally our fund and shares. 2) If which sector is going well we can manage to improve my trades.

For us Canadians who trade in CAD$ and US$.....how can we track these transactions in different currencies bur report back in CAD$? When we buy a US stock , we have a CAD value based on the day's exchange rate but the market value will chaneg as the exchange rate changes and even more when we sell as the rate may be differrent to our purchase rate. For me this is improtant. As a future enhancement, it woudl be nice to calculate the years P&L total for tax purposes. This is a great file to use.

You can change the currency format by pressing CTRL+1 in transaction tab and you will also have to do the currencies present in hidden calculation tab. To choose the correct ticker, requesting to right-click -> Data Type -> Change to search for the correct ticker symbol. Thanks for your question. Currently there is no systematic transaction type in the template to implement stock splits. We would have to manually enter a sale transaction for 1 share at pre-split price and a Buy transaction to buy 20 shares at new price. We will consider this feature for next version of template. Currently, no, since the Excel stock data type which takes the live data from Microsoft server is not supported in Excel version less than Microsoft Excel 365. But you can modify the template to enter data manually, which is taken from a different source instead of the data taken from Microsoft server will produce the same output. Big guy I downloaded this template and when I opened it there was no data as seen in the video. Additionally if I want to change any value in a cell like the time-offset it is password protected then how can I use it ?

I like the appearance of your template but it is unfortunate that it requires significant reprocessing for detailed end of financial year reports. Ie Opening stocks in the portfolio, transactions during the period, closing stocks in the portfolio, capital gains/loss report for each stock, dividends received during the period and any tax credit (AKA franking). For these reasons this detracts significantly from its usefulness.

Thank you for showing interest in our template. Yes, you can use our template for Indian stock market ticker symbols. The currency type is auto picked from the selected ticker symbol. The currency format holding the calculated fields need to be changed by selecting the cell and pressing CTRL+1. Best wishes.

You just need to type the NSE ticker symbol. For example for TCS, you need to enter as XNSE:TATACOMM. Or you can right click the ticker symbol and select datatype, change to search the required ticker symbol. Best wishes.

You need to enter VNGA80 in a cell and select Stock from Data ribbon under Data Types to get the requested ticker symbol. You can also right-click existing ticker symbol on the template and select Data Type -> Change and search for VNGA80 to get the requested ticker symbol. Best wishes.

If you are referring to Vanguard LifeStrategy 80% Equity Fund A Acc, I am unable find the same using Excel Stock Datatype. Following are the list of Stock Exchange that are currently supported on Excel stock data type: support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/about-the-stocks-financial-data-sources-98a03e23-37f6-4776-beea-c5a6c8e787e6 As per Chat GPT, Jupiter India I Acc and Vanguard LifeStrategy 80% Equity Fund A Acc there is no stock ticker symbol and it does not belong to any stock exchange. Hence it will not be supported in Excel stock datatype. Best wishes.
