We docked in Nynashamn, Sweden and took the hour long train ride to Stockholm for the day!!! Always exciting to venture out on our own, but the pouring rain put a slight damper on our plans.

That extendable dock must have been designed by the IKEA engineers. 😂

Corrections needed about the Wasa ship. It was designed originally, properly, to float well. The new king then insisted that ANOTHER row of cannons be built, against the engineers’ advice. The 2nd deck of cannons was built and that made it top heavy. Also, it did NOT sink a few kilometers out to sea. IT SUNK RIGHT IN THE HARBOR WHERE IT WAS LAUNCHED! It was SUCH an embarrassment, that it took 300 years before anyone was allowed to raise it. They knew exactly where it was.

Yup - in fact, it sank just off one of our busiest cruise quays in the middle of town.

I work in the port of Stockholm, and yeah - we’ve had really weird weather this year. Normally we end the cruise season with what we call a “harbour tan”, but this year has just been soggy. Fun to see that you enjoyed the Seawalk at Nynäshamn - it was built just a few years back and meant we were able to accept much bigger boats. On a side note, you had exactly the right mindset for a rainy day; yesterday morning in even heavier rain we saw two distinct reactions among passengers. Some looked glum and had a terrible day; others said “yeah, it’s raining, but we had fun”. Both were just as wet.

The moveable/expanding port dock was very interesting! Love the pink tshirt Sharon got . Thanks for sharing these helpful videos when you go out in port and when you go on your own. It's good to see what the port looks like, the transportation to get where you need to go and other helpful information on the way as well as seeing the sights.

Love stockholm, we have only flown there, but want to sail there one day. Travelled by train to Nynäshamn from Stockholm to have alook around, the little harbor by the train station is cool, with pentry of restaurants. Loved the place, great culture and language.

Oh, come on guys, you are in Stockholm. You can eat pizza any day (they did look yummy). How about trying different sorts of herring and rye bread? The cinnamon buns are gorgeous, I grant you. I thought the Vassa museum was one of the most interesting maritime museums I have visited. It's almost as good as the Mary Rose in Portsmouth. Next time you take a cruise from Southampton, do make time to visit that. Portsmouth is next door to Southampton.

That was cool with the dock. I remember having to pay to use the bathrooms in shopping malls and other "public" restrooms. Weird seeing that now in other countries.

I think it's to keep them clean of drug users and so on. Also in some European countries or cities the fee is to keep public toilets tidy. Usually toilets in Europe are very clean and well maintained, so it works.
