I really appreciate the amazing efforts Mr Collister has expended composing these slide shows. Often the photos are beautifully artistic. At other times Stockport looks a dismal mess, emphasized by the fact that many photographs seem to be taken whilst the buildings are being demolished, taken no doubt as a record for posterity. Sometimes I feel the replacement buildings lack the character of the ones being demolished. Usually, the photos are black and white, this adds to the feel of times past. As has been commented, it is a bit frustrating to not being able to identify places, often because the area has changed so much. Sometimes the resolution of the scanned photographs prevents one from reading street signs. Many places seem very spacious, with empty plots of land everywhere you look. I think the Stockport town planners have had a field day ripping whole streets down and replacing them with characterless modern blocks or car parks. Oh! And I love the esoteric soundtracks too.
pity the photographs, didn't, have location, stating where they were!!!!ok if you recognised them, but it would have been nice, to have a location, note.
