Stok, a quaint village some 15 kilometers from Leh, provides the needed antidote to the wild pace of the Leh city. Perched on top of a hill and overlooking the village, Stok Palace holds some of the most precious truths of the Ladakh history and heritage. It’s still a living palace and serves as the current residence of the former royal family of Ladakh. A part of the palace has been converted into a heritage hotel, and the rest has been turned into a museum that showcases the artefacts of the dynasty After the Ladakh kingdom was annexed by the Dogra rulers of Kashmir, the Namgyals moved to Stok, and Stok palace became their main palace.
The Stok village can be best enjoyed through a nice stroll across the village, without following any standard itinerary. The gompas on the roads guide one’s way as one reaches the other end where the giant statue of Lord Padmasambhava stands. From there one can see the foot of the Stok Kangri mountain peak, which is also the base of the famed Stok Kangri trek, and the start of the Karakoram mountain range. The village itself, an intriguing network of grey stone walls, is situated at the snow-clad foothills of the mighty mountains in Ladakh.
Right in the center of the Stok Village lies KaYa Cafe & Guesthouse. Run by Hashim and Pooja, this place can be a great alternative to Leh to get acclimatized in Ladakh. The guesthouse is teamed with a vegan friendly cafe and an expansive organic vegetable garden. With a view of the majestic Stok Kangri peak, this minimalist yet comfortable homestay is inspired by the traditional Ladakhi elements and can be an ideal base to slow down, take it easy and soak in the stunning landscape

Morning walk + tea, exploring a palace during the day, learning to make a vegan dish and ending day with a small picnic by the river - Abhishek you do know how to squeeze contentment from the simplest moments of life. And this is what I love about untravel. I couldn't see the last few episodes, which means binge watching today 😍

It is amazing how you are able to find such undiscovered locations with individuals who have untold stories that just make us glued to the TV screen, waiting for the next episode. Undiscovered, Untold, Untravel - is that serendipity??

@@travel_genie79 It's not an undiscovered location for sure. However, it's less touristy in comparison to other destinations in Ladakh like Nubra, Turtuk , etc etc

Beautifully captured landscapes with amazing stories of Hashim and Pooja. Cherry on the icing being the two rainbows, that added so much to the ending and what lines to end an episode- " don't make a list at all."-dilkhush ho gaya.

An adventurist would embark on to explore a place like Stok Village, definitely no less than a surreal destination. Nestled midst barren mountains and sorrounded by lush green sprawling meadows, Kaya cafe is stunningly a wonderful place..The authentic dish, no doubt,is a culmination of pan India flavours. The place is so serene and beautiful that one would like to find solitude and eternal happiness while spending a couple of days.Too good Abhishek...

Loved the episode. The gorgeous panoramic view of the village, the slow walks, the quiet picnic spot, the really yummy looking toasties, and those beautiful people with their untold stories…a perfect setup to unwind your mind and soul. And that breathtaking double rainbow (which showed up as a surprise), simply made it surreal. Everything captured so beautifully. Feeling nostalgic 🥹❤🌈

One thing that I find extremely classy about this channel is that you never ever ask anyone to comment, subscribe, or share your videos. Very few content creators on RU-vid do that. Even people like Ben Shapiro and Dave Rubin do it, despite having millions of subscribers. That is apart from the quality of your videos, which are far superior to almost every single Indian travel vlogger. This is the epitome of Male nature. Lage raho Munnabhai. Someone, someone, will realize your efforts. I can't ever have any respect for Indians, who speak English with a pseudo American accent. You don't do that.

Hi Abhishek, superb content as always, just that this time the wait since the last episode was a tad too long! Really enjoyed watching the episode, at the end I was hoping there was more. A suggestion please, it would be great if you, in the comments, can add a bit of detail as to the best time to visit the place you are covering and how one can get there. It would go a long way for people like me to help get their with the family. BTW, any plans to cover areas closer home?

Abhishek, the storyteller. How come... whenever you travel, you find the right places, like minded people, hearty hearty meals, heart melting n warm conversations on oh soo heart melting chai (variety of them🥰) and of course the real time life stories of those places and people ❤️ It's certainly that someone up there😊, who is happy to see us slow down🥰 and loose ourselves in your dreamy and mesmerising stories and locales😇. No wonder, that's why we are, who we are #TheUntravelTribe 🥰🤗❤️
