STOL Competition in 4K, AirVenture 2018, Draco the PT-6 Tubine Wilga 

To all comenteers: watch the videos when Mike Patey built a totally new fantastic aircraft, just the basic shape of a Wilga was kept, like, the small back of the fuselage, and the special landing gears. He spent thousands of hours to build this wonderful machine, and on the videos he is really having fun but also a real expert in building anything. He really deserves a big respect for this Wilga which has a P&W 6 turboprop engine and can land or take off in just a few meters. p:s. most of the fuel is stored in the front landing gears :-D Thanks Mike, I watched your work for hours now and it's very impressive :-))

Come on guys. We all know the Draco will destroy the competition. He put over a $1,000,000 into that plane. Give me that kind of money or more and ill produce a plane that is comparable or better.

Mike's WILGA(DRACO) is the most beautiful bush plane ever made, no one comes even close to the looks of DRACO. Mike's WILGA was originally produced in Poland, but with all the mods he put on it, there is maybe only 25% or less of the original WILGA left in that aircraft. The crazy thing is that he even put fuel tanks in the main landing gear struts, which I personally think it's dangerous to have fuel tanks in the landing gear struts, because if he ever lands to hard or hits something and one of the landing gear strut breaks off the whole plane will go up in flames. Mike has a YT channel and he filmed himself building the WILGA(DRACO). You can go watch his videos on his channel named "Mike Patey" it's really worth watching. I binge watched almost all his videos, it was worth every second of it. I really learned a lot about aircraft building from Mike's video's.

The opening shot had my eyes watering. With the great choice of music score all I could think of was a great prehistoric bird of prey stalking us as it stealthily [& slowly] came around from behind the trees to line up, with its talons [ok, tyres] extended & coming in for the kill. Even the touchdown was like a dragon bird grasping its prey. OK, so I have a vivid imagination, but watch it again & see if you agree.

Boy howdy...that Draco...sigh. All it takes is an unlimited budget and a lot of time. Gorgeous machine.

Awesome footage. We were there that night at Airventure but couldn't see a thing because of the crowds. Sight lines aren't the best at that runway. It's great to see what I missed. Thank you.

Now I've seen many a bike doing a stoppie(riding along on front wheel with backend riding high in the air) but definitely the first time I've ever seen an aircraft doing a stoppie thats for sure.👌👍👍

Draco is a modern masterpiece, like a rembrant or piece of classic music, but with wings. The incredible expression of one man's dream in physical form which exceeds all expectations.

the way they have the final approach set up for the comp is dangerous. I am surprised they would set it up this way. It is too easy for them to stall when turning to final. They would fall out of the sky and on to the people if that happened.

Def sick of seeing draco. Yeah, its very very cool, but it is an exercise in excess, well out of reach of the normal man. What steve henry is doing with the Highlander is MUCH more impressive and within the spirit of what the EAA really is.

Mass production of DRACO could save a lot of lives around the world.

I'll bet these STOL pilots NEVER have a meltdown with the line judge like Serena Williams, and they darn sure wouldn't smash their airplanes like Serena did her racket.

You can NOT call this a "STOL Competition," because only a select few individuals were asked to participate in this takeoff and landing exhibition. It was an exhibition and nothing more. It was NOT open to competitors. Had this been a competition open to the competitors that were present at EAA AirVenture 2018, NONE of these people who took part in this exhibition would have had a chance at winning a real STOL competition. They can take off and land pretty short, but none of them would have had a chance in an actual STOL competition with actual STOL competitors. Draco's nice, but a K650T Sherpa will beat it every single time.
