June 27, 2022 - Lonoke County, Arkansas Trevor Strickland stole a dump truck and rammed an Arkansas State Police vehicle. The dump truck was reported stolen to the Lonoke County Sheriff's Office around 5:25 p.m. Wednesday evening near the Furlow community. The truck was being driven by 29-year-old Trevor Strickland when it crashed into an Arkansas State Police car that was blocking Lingo Road. Strickland continued through the wreckage as deputies pursued him. The trooper was not injured during the crash and escaped the vehicle before impact. When Strickland turned the dump truck onto Charlie Loop Road, troopers "aimed gunfire" at the truck "in an attempt to stop the pursuit." At least one round hit the engine compartment, which caused the truck to slow down and stop on Carson Bridge Road. Strickland was not injured and was taken into custody. Originally charged with: Attempted murder (Class A Felony) Theft by receiving (Class B Felony) Fleeing w/ serious injury (Class C Felony) He, through his attorney, was able to negotiate a guilty plea: Sentenced to Arkansas Department of Corrections for 180 months (received 609 days of jail time credit) Suspended sentence of 60 months Fined $485

Everyone seems to be confused as to what Trevor Strickland got sentenced to so I just simply looked him up. He's in Lonoke County. They gave him 25 years but he took a plea of 10 years in prison and 5 years on probation. So that's why it says 180 months suspended sentence of 60 months. So he got 10 years which is 120 months in prison then 5 years which is 60 months on probation after he gets out. The 609 days just means he's been in jail for almost 2 years while waiting to be sentenced.
Roughly 14 years in prison for causing that much chaos and state property damage. The dude is lucky, to say the least. Now, the taxpayers in Arkansas get to support this low-life.

Country dogs are pretty smart. Usually... But I was worried about them too. I don't let my dogs run loose without supervision. That is asking for trouble.

Trevor all you had to do was stop & maybe gotten a couple months in jail. But NO! you just had to flee on the worst getaway vehicle ever & now you must serve 180 MONTHS. Great decision making Trevor!
@@dallasarnold8615That is another sentence to be started after the 15 years is over, but suspended. Likely do 12 on the 15, 3 years parole, start the 5 years on the suspended sentence. Going to have to walk 8 years of supervised paper, going to have to work real hard not to go back inside.

Very nice things you said about these Police Officers. They risk their lives every day for us and yet people always find a way to tear them down, to criticize, to be judgmental. When we should be thankful and appreciative for what they do for us every day, which is risking their life for our safety. To those who are so negative about Police Officers and what they do and the decisions they make - you go and sign up to join the Police Academy and you become a Police Officers since you think you can make better decisions, think better than them, do better than them, etc. They are calling the “shots”. They have reasons why they decide to do what they do. Why are those who sit and watch on their couches at home are smart and can do it so much better? For those who are being so critical you need to sign up for the Police Academy, go through it and become a police officer since you think you have better thoughts, can make better choices, and think you are smarter than all of them, etc. To those who are so critical of the police officers, are you the same people who are going to want to call 911 when someone is breaking into your home, etc. Words are powerful please use them to say thank you, to be appreciative, to build up people up instead of tearing people down. Just a thought.
My grandson in jail with 5000 secured bond in another state and he is the one that called police,went all ptsd on them because he is scared of dogs after being attacked by one a year ago. Some trumped up charge impeding traffic and of course the redisting charge. Still in jail till his court appointed lawyer can show up for court. Been in jail a month already
ASP troopers as usual- all looking smart and trim...Some of the other Police agencies need to instigate a weight loss/fitness program for their plump officers!!
They weren’t that smart. They let a chase go on for however long when it was a vehicle with exposed air brakes. Take the air brakes out, Chase is over quickly you can’t over power 6 locked up brakes 😂

@@ET_Donthat 4'9" 250 lb female officer who threw her weight around in the end was a heavy equipment operator, she just couldn't bully her way to the front so she could shoot something, anything! She handled her weapon with all the skill and professionalism of a Secret Service agent.

plea deals are not made by a corrupt court. Or any court. They are made by the prosecutor based on his lawyers willingness to argue the case before trial. Before the case even makes into the courtroom.

My grandmother used to have a house, just off of highway 67 in Texas, until some guy reeking of the booze took the corner too fast one morning and completely destroyed the place. It was just an old shack, "built" back during WWII I think, sure was sad to see it go... lots of memories there. Hope all the LEOs were okay

Yep, it's a fail-to-safe mechanism which I think is a legal requirement on trucks over a certain weight. The brakes are slowly applied when the air tanks lose pressure.
Was wondering what damage shooting the engine did? Isn’t shotgun slugs made of lead and the engine, cast iron? Or did he hit the radiator from the back
@@woolybully02 Shooting out the radiator would cause the dump truck to overheat, so yeah that's likely what they were aiming at. That, plus shooting out the front tires seemed to do the trick.
Again it shows how the justice system rather have the criminals on the loose, than putting them away. The judge should be in jail him/herself for allowing such idiotic sentence. Why are cops even trying? All they do is putting their lives on the line and for WHAT?? So the judge can let them go??? Maybe he is related to the judge, or worse paid the judge a sum of money.
@@YouGottaGoDown That was the order before he killed someone or a family. It's a weapon regardless. This kind of joy ride should be discouraged, but they seem to let it go. I think mandatory jail time plus enhancements for the length of time, the number of people that were put in danger, damage caused etc. 🤷🏻♀️
Our judicial system is so weak and pathetic! That's all the time he had to serve?? Only $485 dollar fine? He should have to pay for every squad car damaged in that chase to get him to stop. No wonder crime in this country has got out of hand.

He stole a truck, totaled 1 car, damaged a couple others, plus some minor lawn damage. No one hurt. He's sitting in jail for at least 10 years! WTF kind of punishment you want? Countless people have done way worse for less time in jail.

And that’s the issue are the plea deals. It’s just not the Judges it’s the DAs that want to get cases quickly off the docket and it’s a 50 state problem.
He was mad at his ex-employer. I'm sure we've all had bad bosses or places of employment where we'd love to get revenge, but I don't think 15 years in jail was worth it 🤷♂
@@PolicePursuits Saw a video long age, it showed a construction site where the equipment had been destroyed by a fired employee (they think). No one was ever arrested and charged. A track hoe can do a lot of damage.....

What amazes me is the restraint these guys showed after he tried to kill one of the officers with the truck. I could never be an officer. I could not control myself after a stop like that Praise our officers for a job well done. Show them respect. They run toward danger while we run away. God keep them safe !!.
Karen was not happy with the chase going up and down her road so obviously she felt entitled to "do something about it". Wish we could see a video of her meltdown when the insurance claim gets rejected.

Clearly, the light colored dog (can I say colored on here?) knew what was going on, but hit beside the tree and yelled to the colored, I mean black dog, "Hey, Marquan (what, i didn't name the dog). The mailman's here," knowing he'd come running to the road without thinking twice. And just before Marquan was about to lunge at the cop's throat thinking he was mailman, the dump truck hit the car...saving the dog's life.
Some times wish it was like when you got into a very rural area, you had 2 troopers in a car. You could pull in front and shot the radiator out to stop the vehicle and not just rely on stop sticks. I know your prime concern is public safety. I understand. But I also understand if you are chasing someone, they broke the law. Also understand if you are chasing someone, if the perp or law enforcement gets involved in a wreck. In my view, all the blame is on the person fleeing the crime. Even if law enforcement gets in a wreck. Would not have happened if they were not chasing a criminal. ALL BLAME GOES TO THE PERP !!!!!!!!

People in Arkansas are "different". Imagine thinking you could run in a dump truck. They must have been dropped on their head multiple times as a child.
This is a modern up to date version of the wild Keystone Cops chases of the silent comedy movies of the early 20's. You gotta love it. It took a whole army of troopers and sheriff's deputies to bring down a clown wearing shorts and army boots to get him out of the truck's cab. And for them it wasn't easy. Also included in the Arkansas state troopers comedy "truck" chase, like in the Keystone Cops, state vehicles had to be destroyed for effect and excitement. Gotta admit though, the truck driver sure knew all the country roads and back roads. But like the Canadian Mounties, they were determined to get their man.
I don't think they did. But the suspect might have stopped rather than destroy the car. He chose to ram the car, which proved more drastic measures would have to be taken to get him stopped.
I think they were hoping he'd give it up, or at least drive into the ditch which would have effectively stopped him. Suspect decided nope, I'm gonna rack up a few more charges instead.
