Thanks for writing! I'm carving stone since 1985. Stone carving can be quite challenging and a good challenge is always worth a good effort. Perseverance is the most important attribute to successfully finish a sculpture. For me carving is a passion and working on this particular project was fun and easy. Cheers, Martin
Hey Martin...Just found this time lapsed video of yours after reading #theblankcanvasblog post you did and was mesmerized watching it. Fantastic! Look forward to more like this showing you at work.
I can't find any info on google so I'm just gonna ask the pros instead, what kind of stones are best to use? I'm looking for a grayish stone, that I want to cut it in a hexagon-ish shape, about 2 inches in diameter, design the top, and have a nice surface when finished. I don't want any cracks, or bumps, or indentations. What kind of stones should I be looking for?
I have a lot of respect for you this looks like it would have taken a lot of time and effort. How long have you been carving ? did you find this a challenging project ?
Beautiful job! I don't suppose you do this often, eh? :-D I am also really interested in your stand there; did you make it yourself? It looks perfect for flat work like that, not even a wobble that I could see (in time lapse). Very lovely job there.
