I don’t mind cause it’s closure for taker. I mean his last actual match was the boneyard which was cinematic so it wasn’t in front of a live crowd. So this is a way to kinda give him his closure 😊
It doesn't matter how much he wanted. Steve made WWE lots of money over the years. The man and Vince had one heck of a rivalry too. WWE could afford whatever Steve wanted. They should have given it to him plus more as a bonus and thank you.
I was just thinking the same thing. They could’ve gave him a few million because it would’ve been a moment everyone will talk about forever. And now it’s gonna be a forever what if moment. WWE wouldn’t even be where it is today without stone cold in the 90s/00s
@@theone5404 Austin is the main reason that company survived in the 90s. Austin was everywhere. They could’ve hooked him up on a multiple appearance deal
@@xaviersantini8176 no he wasn't. No one man saved the wwe. Get that out of your head. He was real popular for 3.5 years. Within 2 years the wwe made a come back. It was thanks to Tony Shivani screwing up talking about the other promotion and people began to turn to it. It just so happens that the Vince McMahon and Steve Austin Saga was picking up and that's what people back on the WWE with Austin being the foundation. People came to see the other stars as well. The Rock and DX were a big part of it. It wasn't Austin by himself. Lettuce balls dry off a little bit let his balls dry off.
People acting like this is completely on brand for Austin 😂. Any documentary, interview, other attitude era superstars or executives who shoot on him, there is one constant among all of those, and that is money. He’s a brand, the single biggest box office draw in the entirety of the industry past, present and in all likelihood the future as well. Rock made a little north of $9 million for his involvement. Granted he was making semi regular TV appearances and worked a 45 minute night one main event, but I’m not sure I could blame Stunning Steve for expecting even $1 million just for a cameo run in. He understands that his presence and how it would drive social media numbers the following week and that creates money. And to be honest, Taker was awesome. His connection to WM specifically was logical in hindsight and he also got his final moment with the people. So yeah, wrestlers, amirite?
I’m not the biggest sc fan, but that statement is whack. I guess you’re quick to forget the man literally gave his effing neck to the fans and buisness.. He don’t owe sht..
Should of been Sting at that last spot cause he was Cody's favorite wrestler besides his dad and having someone from Cody's past who Inspired him growing up would of made sense. The Icon the Goat of pro wrestling facing of against one of the biggest names in WWE would of been historic!
@@RJ-fe9pu no his sons not training either one of them unfortunately but that could change! The one thing that's for sure in wrestling is nothing is for sure! And as far as the Goat goes never say never!
As times goes on , people will look back and wish it was SCSA and not taker . I love taker and yes he had matches with Yokozuna and the rock and Roman , but when you think of the the undertakers or the rocks great rivals , you do NOT think of the opposite. Taker you think mankind, Kane , HHH , HBK and Brock , the rock you think 4 names : HHH, Cena , angle , and STONE COLD . I don’t know WHAT SCSA could have asked for but anything under 5 million they 100% should have paid . My god the moment would have been the greatest mania moment of all time
@@BamaShinesDistillery on one hand I get it because WWE provided the platform and the “machine “ to really get it out there . At the same time , that character doesn’t work with anyone else (just like taker ) . I would have given it to him but I hope they at least split it 50/50 .
It wasn't a money dispute, it was a rights dispute. Austin wanted rights to use his character in things other than WWE associated stuff and they refused to budge, so Austin refused to budge back.
@@phillybyrd34I think it makes sense for Austin to desire more money, not to mention I'm surprised they were even considering him when you remember the man has bad knees and a bad neck. Man's career was shortened thanks to a botched pile driver.
@@DB8ed All that was necessary was 2-5 minutes of Austin being involved and that would've been it_ Are you SERIOUSLY gonna sit up here and try to convince me that 2-5 minutes of action would've actually "killed" him?? Now if this had been just mainly a physical issue such as impact of a lingering injury or something, then that's different_ the problem with this was primarily FINANCIAL and that is ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS!!! WrestleMania 40 was about more than just a Main-Event match, it was about a celebration as well as a cleansing from the "poison" that has infected it for so many years.. This was a question about PASSION/LACK OF PASSION and the bottom line of this is he DOES NOT POSSESS THE SAME LEVEL OF PASSION FOR WWE THE WAY ROCK/CENA DO.. cuz if he really did have it, HE WOULD'VE BEEN THERE.. IN THE END HE WAS NOT; AND AS A RESULT, HE LET HIS FANS/TEAMMATES DOWN.. PERIOD.
@@phillybyrd34 well, you're not wrong. 2 or 3 minutes of a state down would've been great. That's all they would have done though. I too would've loved to have seen Austin, it's a shame they couldn't work something out.
@@DB8ed Personally, I was unsure about Austin being there; yet conversely it would've been really cool to see him show up; Nonetheless, it simply did not work out for them_ Quite honestly, Undertaker was the better choice anyway because this gave him his own personal fulfillment of Redemption cuz of the way his historic streak was broken..
It was a money thing. They cldnt agree on figure(money), so Stone Cold optd out and Taker was used. I, personally, think Stone Cold shld have done it cause he knows the fans wld appreciate it and enjoyed it. Cld u imagine the pop if the glass shattered and he snuck in through the crowd?
The pop Austin would of got would of been ridiculous like next level. Then there's the face off with the Rock where the crowd would of lost it. Just not meant to be.
The WWE would literally not exist if it weren’t for Austin. They would’ve literally went out of business in 97 if not for him. Pay the mf the money he requests bc the Undertaker coming out was stupid.
That's a lie. Big lie. Tony Shivani and his stupid move caused the fans to look over at wwf. Austin began to make it more interesting, but it was the genius of Vince McMahon. Austin because very popular because of the McMahon foolishness. At the same time, the Rock, DX and the attitude nonsense got very popular in the WWF. All of that saves the wwf. I don't care what someone has done or did, you never get to be full of pride and greedy. It'll always be your down fall. Period.
So SCSA choose no money over a good fast payday and unlimited exposure to all of his current projects? Make it make sense. He didn’t even have to take a single bump!
Undertaker was great. But having Austin come out and give shades of Mankind vs Rock for the title back in ‘99 when bodies of DX and Corporation were everywhere…God almighty that would’ve been tiers above what we actually got.
I disagree. Stone Cold being there didn’t make sense. The match was about Roman, not the Rock. Undertaker was a shade from Romans past. He never really interacted with Stone Cold. I completely understand where you’re coming from, but Undertaker made so much more sense
Taker already said it was a freebie, so no speculation necessary. But apparently, it was also very last minute and he was also already in the area for his own show. Not that Taker would've not gone to a Wrestlemania as a fan anyways. I'm guessing they also tried to spring this on Austin at the last minute and he wanted a payout worth a spur of the moment deal. So based off what Taker said about being ghosted for a couple of days before getting called a day prior to the event, they were probably waiting on an OK from Austin in the meantime.
@johnnybravado7141 Clearly, Stone Cold Steve Austin cares more about himself than his fans. Shame on Stone Cold Steve Austin. He obviously doesn't have any morals or class .
THIS IS THE EXACT REASON WHY THE ROCK/JOHN CENA ARE BELOVED/GOATED THE WAY THAT THEY ARE_ cuz unlike Austin, The Rock & Cena are both connected with WWE by 2 main things: ENDLESS LOVE & PASSION FOR THE BUSINESS & THEIR FANS!!💯💯♥️✊✊ THAT'S WHY THE ROCK IS AND WILL FOREVER BE THE PEOPLE'S CHAMPION!!😁😁🤨
Lets not pretend like that's selfless. they both use there wrestling platform as a means to extend there Hollywood portfolio. Rock ditched y'all for a literal decade bc being associated was bad for his Hollywood career and only returned to boost it.
@@rpt-vl3nq He already explained why he went to Hollywood for that 7 year period he was away and after hearing it, I came to respect it.. At the same time tho, HE NEVER LOST HIS LOVE FOR WRESTLING/HIS FANS AND THAT HAS NEVER BEEN MORE VALIDATED THAN THROUGH THIS 2 MONTH STRETCH LEADING UP TO WRESTLEMANIA!! That's another part of the reason he put himself in the higher-ups position of TKO cuz he wants to see WWE return back to Providence once again- In the wrestling world, he has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING ELSE LEFT TO PROVE, so what's the need for him to keep coming back to WWE??🧐🧐He does it because HE LOVES IT!!! It's his most favorite part of his business life he enjoys the most cuz NOTHING gives him the "rush" of the "MILLIONS" (AND MILLIONS) chanting his name the way wrestling does and he can't get enough of it!!!💯💯 Criticize his business tactics all you want, but there's one thing that can NEVER BE FAKED WHEN DOING A JOB YOU ENJOY AND THAT'S PASSION!!!💯 You either have it or you don't.. and when it comes to The Rock, HE HAS IT!! ALWAYS HAS & HE ALWAYS WILL.. PERIOD.✊
The Rock made north of $9 million for his participation in the WM40 buildup. That’s not counting the rest he’s going to be getting from TKO moving forward. He was no charity case lol😂
@@jessekurtti37 You're missing the core of my point dude🙄🙄What he makes is what he makes (and he DESERVES IT!💯💯)At the same time tho, he still has an UNDYING LOVE for wrestling business; That's why he has a seat in TKO; he wants to see WWE flourish again and not just flourish, but extend itself to even greater heights unlike ever before!! When you truly LOVE the work you do, NOTHING CAN REPLACE THE JOY/FUN YOU FEEL IN YOUR HEART WHEN IT'S TIME TO GET UP AND REPORT TO YOUR BASE_ THE "JOB" IS NOT A "JOB"_ IT'S JUST A PART OF YOUR TYPICAL ROUTINE.. THAT IS THE DIFFERENCE...!!💯💯✊✊
