Stone Soul (1989) 

We bring to your attention the Ukrainian feature film directed by Stanislav Klimenko “Stone Soul”, filmed in 1988 at the Kyiv Feature Film Studio. A. Dovzhenko. The premiere took place in 1989.
A film adaptation of the story of the same name by Gnat Khotkevich, the plot of which was based on the folk song “Pavel Marusyak and the Priest” about the unhappy love of a young beauty - the wife of a rural priest and the leader of the oprishki, Marusyak, “the eagle of Poloninsky”. Hutsul region, 19th century. Dmitry was taken into the army for many years. However, he got out of the imposed yoke and joined the oprichniki movement. He doesn’t like his new life, and the image of his beloved Catherine, who has already linked her fate with another man who deceived her into taking this step, cannot leave his heart. Dmitry decides to definitely see her again.
