Rex Smith The electric guitar is not just a little part of a rock song. More like everything else combined is little part, and the guitar is the major part :D

Timbre is one of the biggest things that seprates music. Melody on overdriven guitar is metal, on a violin it's classical, on a double bass it's jazz, on a synth it's dance music, on a flute it's folk. A lot of people like the same music but don't realize it because the instruments are different.

+_Bennion_ everyone has their own interpretations but i personally think its about someone who's in their mid-teens (being young and dumb) feeling "in chains" but after going on their own, they realize maybe "living in chains" isn't so bad since that way of life isn't as stressful.

Colin's right. Both of the House of Gold & Bones albums coincide with the plot of a graphic novel of the same title by Corey Taylor. It's about a character simply called The Human who awakes in a surreal landscape with no recollection of how he got there. He is led to a small house, where he meets his doppelganger, Allen. Allen's advice is cryptic; he seems to know why The Human is here but doesn't say it outright. Rather, he tells The Human that to go home, he needs to find the House of Gold & Bones before an event called The Conflagration happens, and all the while he's being pursued by Black John and his gang of Numbers. Now that The Human has his marching orders, he sets out to fulfill them. He sees a city glowing red in the distance, beyond a tremendous cliff that he's on top of. He figures the House of Gold & Bones is in this city, so he sets his course towards it. But first, he needs to find a way to reach the bottom of the cliff safely. Eventually he comes across a set of stairs carved impractically into the side of the chasm, and proceeds to climb down, with some difficulty. In terms of the album, this song takes place about at the point where The Human is trying to descend the staircase. The song itself communicates The Human's thoughts and feelings as he's trying to safely traverse the cliff. He still doesn't know what he's doing here, he just knows that this is what it's gonna take to find out. Still, he wants there to be a simpler solution than what he's been offered, and if fulfilling this mission that he's been assigned is what's going to get him home, he wishes someone would help him along the way by giving him some more direct answers, instead of having to endanger himself like he currently is to find them.
