Stone the Crows live at the 1973 Golden Rose of Montreux Festival. This is the last live performance from the band as they broke up just a week or so later.

" The Crows were on form. It's a bit of a needle considering they have not yet received their true recognition. Maggie sang like a demon. Take a bow, Miss Bell and boys, you slammed home just how good you are." - NME review mention of STC at Montreux.

That guitarist...is absolutely phenomenal. Easily sliding in and out of rythym and lead guitar. Hitting the right chords and notes, at every strum and pick. Phenomenal. It's as if he is waiting on wings to sweep him away.

Always loved Janis but this lady Maggie was a natural and straight up with her own style and natural raspy voice. Plenty of other vox she was probably influenced by. Janis was often out of key and a bit messy on stage

Jimmy is OK, but he's no Leslie Harvey. The world lost a great player when he died. Maggie has said in interviews that she lost a lot of enthusiasm for performing after he died.

Jimmy wasn’t trying to be Les and was absolutely brilliant. He brought some much needed energy at a time when the morale was low. He worked to help bring some spark back. Bless him for stepping in and giving it his whole soul.
@tracylynnedgar6591
@tracylynnedgar6591 4 года назад
Oh... and he was far more than “ ok.” When you’ve grabbed the attention of Pete Townshend and Sir Paul had his eyes on him before Wings happened, I’d say that speaks volumes.

@@tracylynnedgar6591 Here is an interview with Maggie Bell. Iru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-9j0dCPqCDmo.html I ran across it after leaving a post here. It's pretty interesting. At about 12:15 she says exactly what I said about Jimmy. " he's no Les Harvey" As good as he was, he wasn't enough to keep it together after Les died, and they broke up.

She does not sound like some great singer to me . I was 16 or 17 when this happening and I always thought she wasn't so great, or Janis for that matter . They catterwalled.
