Incredible, Maggie Bell , one of the most Beautiful voices of all the time!!!!!!! Maggie, my dear Maggie, I love love love love love you!!!!! I love so much Stone the Crows, Midnight Flyer too!
I’m so glad I grew up with bands like this, I always thought they were tops !!! It’s funny that people my age were the only ones who really ever talk about our generation & glad we were to be apart of it. People from the 50s use to talk about theirs but we’re still talkin bout our generation.
It's times like this that I really miss Steve Thompson. It was because of him that I live in the U.S. he married my Mother, Margaret when I was 7 and we came to L.A. in 1977. From there he did some sessions with Jeremy Spencer and a few more tours with John Mayall. I vaguely remember London in the 70's - Maggie, Joan, Ronnie, Colin and Zoot - extremely fond, childhood memories. I miss you Steve. R.I.P.
Colin Alen, you are one of my favourite drummer! If I had to speak the name of three grestests drummers in the rock history. If I had to name three of the most brilliant, your name will came from my heart!!!! Love for you, brother!
Thanks for presenting this. I thank God for giving me the opportunity to see her in her heyday . Probably when you were still a future DNA sample. What a beautiful and wonderful person. She never let the shit life threw at her get her down. I hope she is still alive and well.
In the 70's, without knowing who they were, I picked up a Stone the Crows album in a cutout bin. Big fan ever since. Got to see her back up Bad Company in Cleveland. I wasn't a Bad Company fan. We saw Maggie Bell's band completely show up the "super group" that had the misfortune of playing after her.
Ain’t seen Colin Allen in years, see him with Zoot Money, John Mayall, and Stone The Crows,The Crows was the last time I see him at the Red Lion Leytonstone possibly 1971,Anybody else there that Night,Good to see them both again
There's a newspaper account that can be found online of a Maggie Bell/Bad Company concert in Chicago, and the reviewer said Maggie and her band (there was a photo of her and one of the band's guitarists, Joe Jammer) nearly stole the show from the headliners.
I love interviews with the old time British artists - so intelligent and interesting. It must have been an incredible time of life. But, I wonder why no mention of Jimmy Dewar. His duos with Maggie were priceless.
+TheLeatherChannel Apart from musical aspects I also love that most of the British/Scottish musicians seem to be extremely down to earth when you have the chance to talk to them. Cheers, Jerry
Really hard for Jimi Hendrix to crack America, he had to go to England first to become a big star, then he went back to America and performed at the Monterey Pop Festival where he finally was able to crack America.
I wish you could get the original 'No mean City' in it's entirety. Only the intro/outro is online. The other full studio version is a bit heavy on the 80's cheese.
I remember the play set around the Polaris thing - she played Sweet Home Alabama - as it would be an authentic representation of a band in that situation. Definitely the U.K.'s best female blues singer. Also the real thing - no compromise.
I did not know Colin worked in Aerospace. He was right to say that it was a good gig at the time. I wonder if he did National Service or the factory was regarded as a reserved occupation a hangover from the war if you will.
Two lovely people...and STC were a tremendous band, saw them once with Les Harvey I think...One Five Eight is a brilliant track from Teenage Licks: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-E_4hlu-sAOY.html
@@thescarletandgrey2505 Yeah, but Maggie Bell's style was duplicated (in my opinion) by Joplin. There is a comparison if BOTH singers are identical in sound and style. And I prefer Ms. Bell. RU-vid IS a platform for opinions, debates, dis/misinformation AND whistle blowers whose channels get deleted, right? 😳
@@michellePBrainBubblybutt Listen!! They are not identical in sound and style. This woman, right here, was RAW POLISHED! There's not even such a thing. Her singing was impossible! There's not anybody to follow this blues/rock singer.
@@michellePBrainBubblybutt Janis Joplin, was around before Maggie Bell, so she could hardly have duplicated Maggie Bell especially as Janis passed in 1970 ? Nevertheless both huge talents in their own right.
Jimmy was my classmate at Cumbernauld High 66-69. I was envious as he was like one of the Small Faces to my strict abusive mother. The Beatles were my guiding light. Jimmy went down to Decca to record a single with his group One In A Million. It was pretty awful but he did meet the Stones. Envious again! Thunderclap Newman & Stone Crows & then Wings & Macca. Envious & chuffed for him. Great guitarist. The only person to have stand alone compositions on any Beatle Solo albums & allowed to play them on tour & Paul who was quite the control person. Very sad end & waste of a great talent. Jimmy Jimmy.
