Congratulations Dennis for a concise and accurate guide for visitors to two remarkable ancient sites. I can remember climbing on the stones in the late 50's. Did you know a lot of the stones were moved and then re-erected in 1958 ?

Did they have to fix the stones because we were climbing on them as kids? :)

Perhaps some of the stones were deemed unstable and reset to prevent their tipping over?

Has the British government ever officially recognized Alexander Keiller for his archaeological endeavors and generosity? I would like to visit the museum and manor house in Avebury, not to mention the sunset tour of Stonehenge!

I didn't know you could get up close to it just by paying an extra fee? I'll have to go back there again! That's one of the things that dissapointed me when I was there a couple years ago, I thought I was going to be able to walk up close to the stones, but alas when I got there, I realized there are barriers.

It's open for 12 hrs every year on Summer Solstice. No fees. Just pay for parking. You can touch the stones, dance around them, anything :) Not this year tho.. Covid.

Avebury use to have a snake through it, to me signifying the comet around the sun that caused the Younger Dryas Impacts Theory. The same symbolism can be found in Egypt. Also Stonehenge is directly south and there is Silbury Hill, which I would like to know if both henges are inline of sight from the top.

Maybe it's use for hunting purposes in stone age humans or used for flood season to escape from water.

This is a place where people came from around the area for Protection from GIANTS.. LOOK AT STONEHENGE FROM ABOUT 60 FOOT UP.... BUT ALSO USED AS A VOTING ON LIFE?

Why the stone at 4:43 has two different colours? It might mean all the stones were fakes. Again at 5:43, red material shows up in two stones under their crust.
@hwren9845
@hwren9845 4 года назад
Why would a variation in colour indicate that they were fake? Also, what do you mean? Do you think someone swapped them out with... fake stone?
@whkwole6842
@whkwole6842 4 года назад
@@hwren9845 : Maybe fake was the wrong choice of word. By fake, I meant the stones at Stonehenge might be man-made. Therefore the crust and the crumb are not the same material.
