Re: John Booth's post below; that info is now outdated. The dates of Stonehenge are far earlier than Mycenae-between 3000-2500 B.C.. There was trade around 1500 BC but Stonehenge was long complete.

humans leave traces through history, stonehenge was one of these, we do not know yet the original purpose for which this monument was created but what we do know is that the human being at that time was doing art and looked for a way to develop its imagination for creative ideas that gave birth to projects such as stonehenge

surface level teachings .. The earliest human occupation occurs in Africa, and it is there that we assume art to have originated. African rock art from Apollo 11 and Wonderwerk Caves contain examples of geometric and animal representations engraved and painted on stone.

1988 encyclopedia BRITANNICA "Stone Hendge " some archaeologu suggests that bronze gae greeks where at stone hendge, resurfacing the stones of stone hedge . some other mycenean artifacts found. so who exactly built stone hedge. and why would the encyclopedia reveal this when few do.
