Thanks Steve. And you are correct. Despite having made films for many years, this style is new to me so I enrolled on Noraly's online course. Superb investment because I avoided sooo many mistakes, benefitted massively from her experience and saved myself months of pain. ... MIKE 🙏👍🙂 Itchy Boots Channel: ru-vid.com
Loving this series, Mike. I’m too chicken to ride a bike on the road, so this allows me to do it vicariously. Cheers. South Wiltshire and North Dorset are beautiful.
Thank you. I enjoy these out-of -the-box photography videos and have been going on rides with you while on my bike trainer at home during these cold days in NYC. Thank you for sharing the "realness" of photography.
Thanks Ronni B. Was talking to a photographer friend in NYC today. -7 🥶!! BTW, my friend is also a photography legend and photo-biker herself. Watch out for an inspiring video with her which is hitting the Tube tomorrow. Stay warm...... MIKE 🙏😊
Another brilliant video, I am really enjoying you riding your motorbike through the English countryside . As always very entertaining and instructive, thanks for taking us along for the ride.
Thanks another great video , I would have stopped at just about every old building you passed and never got to the stones . Love the in touch feeling the bike brings to your videos .
@@MikeBrowne I am doing a video with some photos I took from my kayak for my channel , it is so peaceful you get another perspective from the water looking back to shore , maybe something for the future for you .
Enjoyed the ride today Mike - thank you! Lots of hidden gems out there and 'working the shot' as you demonstrate brings out the best. Awesome, thank you!!
Another good video Mike and we certainly do have some lovely countryside to admire and photograph. Bike, burger and belting shots - what more can you ask for :-)
Thanks Glyn. Means a lot coming from you. Between us - I think motorbikes are boring too - as in "Have you seen the latest XYZ with additional throttle valves etc". But riding them, in great scenery. Well that's a just one of life's greatest pleasures for me... MIKE 🙏👍😊
I've watched and learnt from your videos and inspired instruction for years. What you began with the PLD helped me a lot. These set of 'roadtrip' videos is you at your true best. Outstanding.
Hi Mike, really am loving this series of videos with you on your motorbike. Great and easy to understand instructions regarding composition and settings. Thank you.
Love these motorbike and photography videos! You may have found a neat niche not commonly seen on RU-vid! Bravo! Being an American motorcycle rider myself, it looks a lot safer riding in the UK than here where it’s congested and nobody obeys the rules of the road.
Thanks. Delighted you like them.. Believe me - there's plenty of congestion here too - and driver looking at sat-navs instead of where they're going. I avoid those roads like the plague wherever possible.. Keep riding buddy ...MIKE 🙏🙂
Another lovely ride out with you. I first visited Stonehenge as a teenager with a friend who lived in Salisbury, and back then we simply parked his car by the side of the road and climbed all over the stones 😀 This series is reminding me of what a lovely part of the world we have here. It's easy to become jealous of the RU-vidrs who live oop north and have mountains but it's just as wonderful here, albeit somewhat flatter. Thanks.
Ha ha I remember those days Neil.. Thing is there's tons of beauty in the world wherever you go. Some of my photojournalist colleagues from Xposure even capture it in war zones - akids playing, a couple in love... ...MIKE 🙏🙂
💯% smashing video Mike.. can't get enough of them. Beautiful shots again.. What a beauuutiful country side! And it was really fun to see you talking to your helmet:)) Gem.
Thank you for the nostalgic ride, on a great bike, through some lovely country roads. It's been 3 decades since my last bike and 5 decades since I left County Antrim, NI. I have got into photography, but still lots to learn. love the way you teach and will be checking out more of your video's. Cheers from Ron, Adelaide, Australia.
enjoying these videos very much the countryside your riding looks a great deal like the back roads my son has taken me down in pennsylvania when we visit. some of the roads there are scary but i love it anyway, lol
Ah England ❤Another inspirational ride that makes up for not being able to fly over and see it all in person. I appreciate you showing how to work with the darkening light in the sunset shots, its a struggle that I need lots more practice to get right. Looking forward to the next journey!
Mike - I really am enjoying this series of videos on your motorcycle-- Great choice of music and as always entertaining and instructive-- Keep it up and have a great holiday season
Thank you Mike for taking us along on your adventures. I love getting in the car with my 4 legged copilot and roaming back roads. As my friends say I'm prone to wondering. My Mom use to say I had one foot in the road because I was always out and about exploring. Because of you I am now creating and not taking pictures . Your videos and online courses have helped me be more creative and understand how to fight with my settings 😄 to capture the image I want. Stay safe on your adventures and hope you have a wonderful holiday season.
Being out exploring is just one of the best things ever. Great stuff Kimberly... And thank you for your kind words. I'm delighted to have played a part in your photography journey ...MIKE 🙏🙂
Hi Mike! Love this video and pleased you shared it with all of us. I can highly recommend your Masterclass in Photography! Even though I am only in week 2, it has been extremely detailed and informative. You have definitely assisted me in putting all my bits and pieces (of minimal knowledge in photography) together to bring me to a more confident point in taking photographs.
Hey thank you Bridgette. It was good to meet you properly on last night's 'Ultimate' meeting. Delighted Masterclass is helping you grow your confidence. Praise indeed coming from someone as experienced as you are already. Look forward to seeing you again next week... MIKE 🙏👍😊
Thanks for the lovely video, Mike. I really miss driving on the wrong side of the street ;-). But all joking aside :). I love driving along the back roads through the small villages and towns. Especially in England there are so many beautiful little towns where you can find great photo motifs and also in the countryside you always have fantastic places, like the little bridge you found. I hope I can be in England again sometime, when this pandemic is over and we mainland Europeans are still allowed to travel to England. Have a great time and take care!
Another nice ride out Mike, you live in a very beautiful place there. I did visit Lymington about four years ago and got some rubbish shots, but keep promising to go back. The shot of the bridge reminded me of one I took a couple of years ago in Crayford Kent. Nice to know we have some similar taste in our shots! 😊
Verily, I say unto ye, a biker who doth not check the defilement of his lens, is like unto the man who, knowingly finding a green well, drinketh thereof. Rubbish in, rubbish out! ;-) Another great video. Don't forget to have the odd free ride!
yet another brilliant video, loved it, superb journey, wonderful scenery, great photographic tips, thank you so much for taking the time in creating such wonderful work
Another great video Mike, I do love this series. Also good to see you do your own maintenance on the bike fork seals can be a pain. I wholeheartedly recommend your channel to anyone who is learning photography particularly your earlier stuff you're a natural teacher. 👍
Another great video, loving the way you're showing off the English countryside in all it's glory. It's a bit further afield, but Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door would be an amazing addition to this series
Hi Mike, I’ve lived in this area most of my life, so great to see you exploring. There’s a nice walk that takes you near Stonehenge from Larkhill and there’s also Woodhenge that’s a lot less spectacular, but still worth a visit if you want to tick off the “henges”. Also the wall you drove past at 17:29 happens to be the boundary of Sting’s house. It’s also the wall where I wrote off my first car! Keep well, maybe see you around here again sometime.
Hey that's some interesting stuff Michael. Thanks. I knew Sting has a place somewhere round there. .. I did that walk from larkhill when we made the Solstice video. It'd be lovely on a summer morning. Say hi if you see me wandering around... ...MIKE 🙏🙂
When I heard Salisbury, as a Cathedral fan, I was looking out for that majestic 404ft spire of such a beautiful cathedral. Would love to see you visit there sometime too.
Thanks Lee. Agreed, I didn't want to get into the whole PP thing as this video waslong enough already... (Between you and me, the thumbnail pic background is exactly that) ... 🙏👍😊
Brill series Mike ,keep it going ,ive noticed of late on youtube a lot of bullshit photography videos doing the rounds were the norm is to kill the photos with lightroom pre sets ,i love your approach and the way you more or less nail the beauty of the photo without the use of over excessive editing Merry Christmas Mike
Love seeing the English countryside and to live within driving distance of Stonehenge, wow. The closest thing I live to here in southwest Wisconsin in the USA is the mighty Mississippi River which is one of my favorite things to ride along. It is a 30 minute ride from me. I am 5 hours south of the Great Lakes also.
Thanks. I am lucky. The UK's great for this stuff because even the most distant parts are only a couple days ride away. Stonehenge is only an hour - and away from the main roads it's packed with quiet, scenic backroads. I want to travel in the US someday.. ... MIKE 🙏👍🙂
So I'm sat watching this and not far in I think that looks familiar, it's New Milton isn't it? I had discerened that you lived in the New Forest area from other videos. My late parents retired to New Milton, Bowland Rise off Caird Avenue and I visited numerous times. Small world innit? 😊😉
(Alan) I like these videos Mike, it's something different. They've changed the roads around since we last went to Stonehenge. I think you now have to park and get a bus (?) I suppose with the picture, you could have exposed for the stones and then used the graduated filter in LR to bring the sky down ?. Although I don't expect you wanted to complicate things ?
Thanks for the ride Mike. I’d forgotten how much more view you get on a motor bike than in a car. It’s a pity that the wide angle lens of the GoPro makes you look like you’re going faster than tootling through the lovely countryside.
Terrific video Mike combining my favourite hobbies of photography and motorcycling! Just a point, if you didn’t have a tripod handy why didn’t you place the camera on the fencepost and take 2 exposures, one for the sky and another for the foreground/stones and combine them in post?
Thanks Paul. Delighted you like them. I didn't want to get into post production in this video because it'd make things a bit complicated for a lot of folks. The shot in the vid is jleg made by the camera, but there's one I made from the RAW file in a clickasnap album, link below... ...MIKE 🙏👍😊 www.clickasnap.com/album/283103
Another super video and no shoops to worry about! Thanks Mike. BTW, why didn't you bracket the exposure for the Stonehenge shots and merge in post, or is that sort of thing not in the scope of this series?
Thanks Phil. I didn't want to open the post production can of worms here - it'd make the video long and most people don't do re-touching. The shot in the vid is the camera's Jpeg. I did do one of my own and it's in an album of Photo Biker images I'm building over on Clickasnap. (Link Below)... MIKE 🙏👍 www.clickasnap.com/album/283103
@@MikeBrowne Thanks Mike, I quite understand re the post-process stuff. I've had a look at your album on Clickasnap; great stuff, but not many - hoping for more! I see that it can't find your camera, which is better than what I get: a Samsung phone when I shoot Fuji.
Forgot spare battery, bug on camera lens for some of the ride, waxing philosophical with mic off . . . love the little finds when we go off somewhere we haven't been before.
Thanks Doug. I didn't want to go down the rabbit hole of RAWs and post in the video. But I will be posting an album on Clickasnap soon with photos from these rides and some additional stuff such as camera jpegs vs those I make myself... MIKE 🙏👍😊
what triumph are you riding? i used to ride a bonnie america but didnt really like it over 60mph im now back on a suzuki gsxr too powerful for me but nice bike. how old/young are you also Mike (asking for a friend)
Hey Robbie. In this one it's a Triumph Thunderbird 900, 6 speed. My fav bike is a Triumph Legend 900 which will be appearing soon. Done over 120,000 miles on that bike and it's still my no1 fav... I am 60 in February - how the hell did THAT happen 😳... ...MIKE 🙏🙂
Hi motorcycling and photography really do go well together don't they? I pack my camera and go into North Yorkshire on my Firefly electric motorcycle (youtube my review) and its so much easier to park up to get a shot than being in a car. nice photos by the way!
I thoroughly enjoy all your videos. One question, how long does it take to edit your videos? I’m imagining it taking hours for say one of your biker ones.
Thanks Peter. Really apprieciate that question because it looks like maybe a couple hours work, when in reality it's about 5 hours shooting - and 20 hours to edit video and stills - and finding suitable music alone can burn best part of an afternoon. As I learn what I do and don't need to shoot the whole process is getting faster. I'm very lucky to have learned from some of the best in the business. Two of whom are very senior camera and editors of BBC Top Gear.. ... MIKE🙏😊
@@MikeBrowne thanks for your reply I thought it might be a lot of hard work. You must be worn out. I appreciate your efforts and enjoy every second. 👍🏼
Another approach to tackling difficult lighting conditions like at the bridge is to switch from a 14-bit image to a 32-bit image. Bracketing two or three stops under and two stops over and creating a proper photorealistic HDR image in Photoshop will produce an absolute superior capture compared to a single raw image. Shooting 32-bit images is so superior in color palette and dynamic range it's a no-brainer. The trick is to remember when you enter Photoshop it defaults 8-bit you have to change it to 32-bit mode and then blend your bracketed images with auto HDR by selecting the option Tone in Adobe camera raw. Then when you export you can export it as a TIF a JPEG or whatever you need. Avoid editing in Lightroom because Lightroom is only 16 bit. That's only two bits more than a single raw photo has.
Motor cycling , beautiful countryside, photography and a burger. Doesn’t get much better than this. Another motivational video. My gears packed and off up to the Peak District , thanks again . 👍
Possibly Aaron. Though I wanted to keep it simple, down to the minimal kind of kit you can carry on a bike, plus the grad would either cover the stones and make them even darker, or leave a gap in the brightest part of the sky... . MIKE 🙏😊
Hey Mike, So completely unrelated to photography, but if you could have anybody's music on your channel without worrying about copyright who would you choose?
I'm a biker but have yet to really get to grips with doing photography from the bike - my enjoyment of riding takes over from the need to take shots. Ho hum... Something you never mention is the benefits of shooting in RAW, then using supposedly hidden data to draw out more detail in the shadows. Early shots of stonehenge where you wanted to have some detail in the stones but the sky was too bright, could've been helped with careful post-editing. You may have already covered all this, but I am relatively new to your channel (attracted by the bike inclusion).
Totally get it. I have to make myself stop... Yes RAW would make a big difference, especially an HDR merge. I don't want to go into that in these videos for now. Will introduce it at a later date... Thanks for stopping by. Hope to see you here regularly... MIKE 👍😊
Talking while driving (or riding) is not against the law, but it doesn't mean its a good thing. While talking you are distracted from driving, there's no question about it. Just like crossing roads with phone in hands. Today 90% of deadly car accidents happen because at least one of the two parties were distracted one way or another. Its not because we're allowed to do it that we should.
I like these kinds of videos. I have a comment, though...currently the ratio of riding:photography is about 80%:20%... is it possible to make it more like 50%:50% ...? thanks , anyway.
you can walk round the other side of the stones too in all fairness. I didn't have time to get t ticket from visitor centre which is on a different road.. MIKE 🙏🙂
It's the first time I've seen the donation system. I didn't know prostitution was back in force! There's something very uncomfortable about it, like tipping a prostitute in a club or a go-go dancer. People are so gullible. "I like your video so I'm tipping you". Gosh money is ruling some people. Awful! I imagine it's only Americans or older generations though as its not a modern mentality!
Sorry you think so @pellier08. Just out of interest, why shouldn't someone support and help expand something they like or benefit from? For example I support Air Ambulance and Wikipedia. As for "tipping a prostitute in a club or a go-go dancer" - why not if you got great service and enjoyed the experience? ... MIKE
Grrrr I couldn’t figure out how to leave a comment with my tip! I can be such a Luddite sometimes... Anyway, very much enjoying the bike rides, they bring back happy memories of tooling around on my yellow Honda motor scooter back in the day. It’s also fun getting a guided tour of the lovely countryside. Looking forward to seeing where the journey takes you next. Cheers!
Thank you so much for your support Paul. Very much apprieciated. Good to know you're enjoying them. Having a conversation with a Nat Geographic photographer whoc wants to do a ride and interview with me. If it comes off the road could lead to Wales or possibly Cornwall. Fingers crossed... Thanks again buddy... ... MIKE 🙏👍😊 🏍️🌟
