When I was in high-school during summer break four us loaded two canoes. We put in on the little Wabash river at Carmi Illinois. We went down to the big Wabash then down to the Ohio. Past Old Shawneetown and on to Cairo Illinois. At Cairo we went down the Mississippi to Memphis. Stopping at towns to buy what we needed. My parents came to Memphis to bring us and our gear back. To my dying day I will never forget what a great adventure we had. Once in a lifetime. God bless all of you.

Electric motors are some of the biggest. New aircraft carriers are all electric, run by nuclear power. Y’all fellas don’t understand that?

Love listening to those turbos absolutely scream as you throttle up the engines. Did I read somewhere correctly that you're from Oklahoma? I'm from Stillwater, but my wife is from just North of Alton, IL, so whenever we go to see the in-laws, I try to get some photos of the towboats as they come downstream. They are impressive vessels. I worked around frac equipment for a long time, so I loved listening to the rumble of large diesel engines for hours on end. To me, locomotives, tugboats, and towboats are all so impressive because you can hear and feel the horsepower at work. Great video!

Good afternoon, Mark) I am the captain of the river pusher “Aikhal”. My name is Nikolay, I am your subscriber. I wanted to know how many dollars you earn per month on your boat???
@louispaparella5766

Nikolay...here in the U S, we don't ask that question...it is considered rude by most people. It is a private matter between employer/employee

In my country, navigation costs $22,000
@louispaparella5766
@louispaparella5766 2 месяца назад
@@user-iw5bm7us7w I understood that. But we usually don't discuss it outside of very close friends or family. Btw...an AB or deckhand would expect to make much more than $22,000 USD. A Captain or First Officer/Engineer, much much more. But it is more expensive to live here also. It also depends on which Certificate/License a person holds

NO STICKS ON THE PORT SIDE ?
@marktwained
@marktwained 2 месяца назад
Rudders don’t work independently (port and starboard). They are “jockey” barred solid in rudder room. *the Mable C Etheridge is an exception to this, and only I’ve ridden.

Yes. It’s all that’s needed. Steer by wire over hydraulic. Jockey bar in rudder room. No independent steering, so cuts down on dash clutter. I guess

@@marktwainedsteering rudders on right, what are the other sticks? Flanking rudders? Can’t be bow thrusters…..

Not talking about throttles. There’s a vertical brass stack handle on either side of the throttles, assuming some kind of secondary rudder, a la flanking rudder. Either way, curious, lifelong Ohio River resident, grew up upriver of the big yellow bridge in Cincy. Keep it pretty, hit them green lights…
